- Exploring the best of Fukuoka, Japan (福岡)! #fukuokajapan
We spend a few days vintage shopping, thrifting, and discovering the amazing Yatai culture 屋台 that is unique to Fukuoka.
#yatai is, of course, a Japanese street food stall, open only at night with long queues, intimate seating, and lots of lemon sours. This signature dining experience has become a classic Fukuokan pasttime.
Join us as we visit our top 3 yatai for this very local #fukuokafood experience:
Hakata Yatai Barakamon 博多屋台ばらかもん
Kagoshima Yocky 博多でかごっま屋台酔っき
Mentai Chudoko 明太中毒.
In every yatai we visited, we noticed the insanely delicious use of mentaiko (明太子) a slightly spicy cured pollack roe. From an omelette dripping with mentaiko and cheese to a plate of fried ramen topped with mentaiko, you can see why this must-try dish is a Fukuokan specialty.
We also visit a local favorite restuarant, Hakata Gomasabaya 博多 ごまさば屋, where a regional dish of raw mackerel with sesame ponzu takes center stage.
If you’re wondering what cafe we loved the most, Coffeesha Noda 珈琲舎のだ 大名本店 definitely takes the cake (or pudding). A historical, 1960s kissaten experience, Noda will win you over with its freshly roasted coffee, homemade whipped cream, and finely dressed staff. A hidden gem in the Daimyo area.
Finally, we discover that vintage shopping is serious business in Fukuoka! We explore the Daimyo neighborhood, Fukuoka's answer to Tokyo's Shimokitazawa or Koenji. With just the right touch of trendy Omotesando and Ginza, this bustling district has everything a shopper could dream of. From Bic Camera to more niche specialty stores. We even snuck in a 35mm film photo shoot here and there.
Fukuoka, it’s so good to be back!

This vlog just bumped Fukuoka up higher on my list! The vibe at the Yatai seems lovely, not to mention the food 🤤
Fukuoka is such a fun and underrated city! Definitely recommend visiting if you end up in Japan 🇯🇵🤍
Another awesome vlog by my fave power couple! ❤ The black cat in the cat cafe reminds me of the black sprites in My Neighbor Totoro with just the big eyes 🖤
The black cats at the cafe were the sweetest. Definite Ghibli cat vibes 🥲
omg the pure happiness that i got from seeing this video on my homepage!! you guys thrifting in Japan is my favorite content, much love
thank you so much for continuing to watch! 🤍🇯🇵
I was there at the end of March for the first time! I was guitar shopping on this trip and probably walked right by the Daimyo area without knowing it! I'll stop there next time! There were some cool vintage clothes and resale shops inside the big department stores. From South Korea it's only a one hour flight and super cheap airfare!!
Niiice! That explains why so many of the tourists were Korean. Such a convenient trip for you guys. 😊 Hope you scored a good guitar on your trip
Really enjoy the content you put out, thank you for sharing this with us!
Appreciate it 🌸✨️🌸✨️
I see a new upload by Ralph and Sam, I click! Thanks for making the weekends a lil more awesome!

Thank you! Hello from Manila 😊
Chillest Channel to tune in on a weekend
Cheers to that! 🍻🙌🏻
ive always really liked these simple vlogs, keep up the good work
Thanks for watching ✌🏽🥸😌✌🏽
You should come to Seoul and check out the Dongmyo Flea Market along the Cheonggyecheon Stream. The vendors spill over into the local neighborhood side streets and on weekends these roads are closed to traffic. Also tons of vintage clothes shops in the hip university area of Hongdae.
Korea is on our wishlist! We've never been before. Thank you so much for the tips! What time of the year do you suggest to visit? 😊
The typical japanese crossing sounds matched so well with the tune in the beginning. If on purpose, props to you!
props to ralph who scores the music for each video 🎧 - sam
Hey guys, we have loved watching all of your Japan videos. Not only is it making us want to go back for a fourth time, but we want to hit up all the cool cafes and thrift shops. Thank you for posting these videos. Can I ask, what is the cool font you have used for the city titles? Obsessed

love how you interact with the people you meet! :) always looking out for the next upload!
It's nice to socialize in our own low-key way 😊 thanks for watching 🌸
I admit you two a member of Japan enthusiastic.
🙌🏻🙌🏻
Dickies seem to be very popular in Japan thrift/vintage clothes shops right now. Yet in America they are sold cheaply in supermarkets such as Walmart. Love the music on the video. Very calming.
Yes Japanese vintage stores like to stock a lot of American workwear. Dickies, Ben Davis, Columbia, etc. Well cleaned and in many colors. But yes, Walmart and Amazon, the original sources. Thanks for watching ✨️🥸✨️
been bingeing all of your videos!! i enjoy them so much. they make me feel so calm and inspired to travel. never stop posting
so happy to hear that! thank you 😊💖

Fukuoka is pretty underrated compared to other Japanese cities. Definitely worth a visit! Thank you 🤍
Omg the recognition! :)))) Have you guys been recognized before? :)
Another great one! And also 30+ minutes -- almost 2x the usual which is a bigger treat hehe
Usually in Manila, but we were surprised to be recognized twice on this trip!
We spent 2 weeks in Japan so we have a little too many videos haha 😂 Thank you for watching this one 🤍🇯🇵

Cool! Whats it like living in Fukuoka? Such a beautiful city 🌸
@@RalphSam Yeah! It's a really easy place to live in. Safe, good food and the people are friendly 😄
That was our experience as well! Still think about the Fukuokan meals we had 😋
Fukuoka seems more laid back than Tokyo or Osaka.
Yes, it was a nice change of pace. Relaxing parks. Cool little shops. Fun spring events. Thanks for watching 🌸
I’ve been enjoying your videos a lot! So peaceful. How do you find such cool art markets like Thought Kyushu?
Arigato! Thought Kyushu was so cool! We met several Kyushu-based artisans and small businesses. Would do it again.

Also I love the aesthetic ! Just found your channel and I'm already obsessed !!!😍😍

What camera do you use to record video? The picture is clear, sharp, and the colors are beautiful. Looks very pleasurable. I'd like to have one to take photos with my mom when I take her on a trip. Looking for a good camera❤
Thank you! We shoot all our footage with our Samsung S phones and we're very happy with them! 🤍
@@RalphSam Awesome! I always watch your vlogs. It's great. Love your style.❤
Give me alllllllllllll the totes!!!
We need to stop but same! 🤣
🤩
✨️❤️
How many weeks were you in Japan and how long do you need to go to the places that you had gone to?
We were there for 2 weeks! We recommend at least 1 week if you're visiting Fukuoka 😊
Correct name is Kagomma Yatai Yockey
Thanks for the tip!
portra price seemed about right...how does it fair compared to mnl?
Manila cheaper than BIC by about 100 php. But the handling and freshness of Japan film might be the real difference. I also prefer to buy from smaller camera shops, not BIC. We went to one in Hiroshima, which had a 500 php difference for a Kodak Portra 400 roll.
I’m curious! Are you navigating these places with no Japanese or do either of you speak Japanese? I speak some Japanese but definitely not fluent and I wonder how hard it would be to visit these types of places given that. Thank you!! 🙏
We know basic Japanese words which are helpful especially in travel scenarios like ordering, asking for directions, etc. 😊 You can easily get by with that. But even if you don't know any Japanese, I think using Google Translate helps!
@@RalphSam Ahh got it! Great advice, thank you!!
Filipina pala kayo mam 😊
Yes, Filipino po kami! 😊
Hey, where did you stay in this trip?
