  • Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area - Enduro Riders Review 9/9/22
    This is our review of Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area, or AOAA. AOAA is 8500 acres of land that is managed for off-road riding.
    Unfortunately, AOAA was a huge let down. We both have very high expectations for AOAA trails, and singletrack, as they have a very impressive facility and website that specifically states they cater to all forms of off road recreation. To quote their dirtbike section on the website....
    "Our single tracks are just as diverse as our double tracks. Right now, our single tracks are limited, but we have plans to expand and develop them over time. In the meantime, there are plenty of trails available to ride." - AOAA website 9/25/22
    While we understood we might not get to ride a whole lot of singletrack, we knew they had jeep trails and some hard enduro looking terrain so we expected an amazing day.
    What we got was just disappointment, there was no singletrack to be found anywhere on the property, and all of the hard enduro style jeep trails were closed to dirtbikes. What you do after you see a "closed" sign is obviously up to you, but for the purpose of this review, they are not accessible.
    That left us with fire roads, and just a very dull and boring experience. Being in coal country, we expected hill climbs, and found none. AOAA does have a spectacular facility, and if you own a rock crawler or jeep, this is the place to be. For those of us on two wheels though, well, enjoy the review. We will not be returning to AOAA until some serious things change.

    I think i was there riding with my 6 year old the day you filmed this. I have a kawi, and my kid was on a Suzuki 50cc. I crossed paths with a male+female duo on the main haul road a few times, and my brain says your bikes and gear are familiar. It was hot as hell the day we were there.

      Very possible it was us! We were all over the place and put a lot of miles on. It was definitely warm too. If ya ever see us again, wave us down and say hello!

    Aoaa is a great place to ride.. ever think you were on the wrong side of the mountain?

      We covered almost the entire property owned by AOAA. I run GPS with property lines. Being a pay to ride place, I treated it as such and followed the marked trails and rules. I’ll gladly share my GPS track with you and you can show me where the “good” riding is!

      @LostEnduro I agree that PA has a terrible selection of riding for dirt bikes, most places require an annual membership also... so I take what I can get I guess

    wow, that sucks. How far is FRO from AOAA, Shamokin area?

    • @LostEnduro
      @LostEnduro  ปีที่แล้ว

      FRO Locust Gap touches AOAA property. They are literally on top of each other. The other lots are within a few minutes drive time.

    Their major sponsor is Quadtratec. That should tell you everything you need to know about the place. It's definitely becoming more and more Jeep oriented. That's where the big money is.

      That's how I felt when I was there, it was a jeep place that just lets dirtbikes in. If they would openly allow dirtbikes onto the jeep trails I believe that would at least make things a bit more fun. It's just not set up for out of town riders to show up and have an enjoyable enduro experience.

    I have been there several times over the last couple years searching for single track but none to be found anywhere. Not going back anymore. Sucks to spend money on false advertising.

      It’s a pretty far trip for me to go, at the very least it would be nice to have something marked for bikes. I’m sure, somewhere, there is some hidden. But that does me no good. I feel you pain on that one.

    It’s not enforced I’ve ridden the no atv/utv/mx trails and they never cared but If you get stuck or brake down they won’t help you

      I see they are making a lot of changes. I saw they are reopening some areas too though! I think the big coal hills are all being reclaimed for $.

    That was rough. I don't know how someone can bash a place so much when obviously you have no idea if you didn't find any single-track.

    • @LostEnduro
      @LostEnduro  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why advertise bike trails if you can’t show it to your patrons? Why do you not advertise that motorcycles are not permitted on jeep trails? The place is great for someone into rock crawling Jeeps, but don’t advertise that you have stuff for bikes when all you have are boring atv trails.

      Plenty of trails for bikes,some trails don't allow sxs or atv,I have ridden at aoaa many times and see alot of bikes ,guess some people like to complain.

    So that place is really just for Jeeps & Side x Sides. That's terrible. That area used to be ALL MX bikes back in the day, before it all became "pay to ride." Bunch of bs.

    • @LostEnduro
      @LostEnduro  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Isn’t that how the story goes? We use to have so much riding, now there is barely any.
