@AlvinTran you naive fool ALL i7s are good tf you on about he calling it "weak" when all i7s are very capable when comparing it to intel atoms Pentium and celerons
It is absolutely A M A Z I N G how much better a computer runs with an SSD over a traditional hard drive, but especially so for a laptop. For two reasons. One, SSDs are a lot faster. In a lot of laptops (and portable devices) with a traditional hard drive this is even more pronounced because laptop hard drives usually spin at even slower speeds than a normal computer's hard drive. Two, virtual memory is used more in smaller computers because they usually have less RAM than a full computer. (For those that don't know, virtual memory is when the computer uses your hard drive as pretend RAM because you don't have enough real RAM. Which lets you do things, but is s l o w.) And SSDs have the added benefit of handling being bumped around extremely well because they're completely electronic, not mechanical like a traditional hard drive. So awesome upgrade choice! (For those wondering why laptops and portable devices might actually use a traditional hard drive over an SSD, there's one simple reason: SSDs are faster, but they store less information. A LOT less. BUT with advances in technology making things cheaper, an SSD today with the same storage size as a laptop hard drive of yesteryears can be quite possible and affordable, letting you upgrade that old laptop without losing storage capacity.)
That is what my school does. They no longer purchase new desktop computers. Instead, they either upgrade the internal components of old computers to SSDs and add more RAM, purchase refurbished computers or convert them into ThinClients.
This helps me have more confidence in making my old laptop way better, my first thought was exactly what you did, switching HDD to an SSD but I thought I didn't rlly want to sacrifice some storage just for faster boot so I want to add an NVMe because my laptop supports it, clone HDD to NVMe and then use NVMe as boot drive, the HDD will be used as for storage and NVMe will be used for boot such as app boot time, windows startup etc. And because one of the ram is soldered I can't really upgrade more but I have 1 more slot available so in this case I can buy another ram same details (4 gb 2400mhz) and put it for dual channel and make use of dual channel
Was there a reason why Windows 10 wouldn't install on a USB flash drive plugged into a USB 3.0 port? I never had any issues with that. I've installed Win10 on laptops (Dell, HP and Lenovo) that had USB 3.0 in them and they all worked. Maybe you were referring to Windows 7 since it has no built-in support for USB 3.0. Also I actually burn an ISO of Windows 10 on a 120 GB SSD to install Windows 10 and noticed it's a lot faster to install the OS. You have to use a SATA to USB adapter though.
This also reminds me that somewhere I think I still have my old Viliv S5 that I never did finish mucking about with when I failed to upgrade its hard drive so that I could upgrade it to Windows 7. I wonder if I can get that little bugger up and running again on either Linux or Windows 10. Probably not, because, you know, drivers. But could be a fun thing to try if I can find it. (For those of you wondering, the Viliv S5 was a full PC in a 5 inch screen tablet format. It was absolutely bonkers good for working on the go, especially with a wireless keyboard and mouse for a temporary office, and it made a great in-car GPS on your way to get there.)
Dude those initial specs are too good, just adding the SSD and a cleam Win11 (forced if not officially supported) should give it at least 5 more years of life... get a 15 USD bgeneric battery and maybe upgrade RAM if possible
Ooh, I have an Asus N56VJ. After my mom- i7. An ssd, more RAM, a new battery (Europe has this amazing replacement battery company called Green Cell), repasting and a bit of epoxy glue, and it's quite workable. Total repair costs
I need to do this with a computer someday... (Seriously, it can barely handle Windows itself now) Probably needs a new hard drive, New RAM, basically new everything. Heck, even using the exact same models of hardware just unused will probably speed it up a LOT.
Go to a Micro Center store or log onto their web site. They have 120, 240, 480, and 1Tb drives SSD's for cheap, and they come with a 3 year warranty. I have revived 3 laptops and 5 All In Ones with them and they boot to Win 10 like a new one.
So I have an Asus laptop E1 Vision and since I play modded minecraft on it I had to look at my RAM amount to have certain modpack(s) run smoother and I had noticed that I have 3.5 GB of RAM in total. This laptop is the exact same laptop I got minecraft on about 7-9 years ago. And my dream now is to stream Minecraft and since this laptop you fixed seems similar to mine I was wondering if you can lend me some tips. I dont have any money to spend and my parents are kinda leaving me with this. But I would really appreciate if you can help me out.
old laptop? Hold my 11 years old acer aspire 4736 that run with celeron dual core T3000 With ssd+hdd, 4gb of ram and windows 8.1. And whats more is im still using it for work till now. 😁

I would love a new laptop but I cant afford it and the one I have is in good quality, I just want to reset everything to windows 10, get rid of the stuff that was downloaded or added unknown to me and care for it as a gaming laptop which it is... There's just programs and stuff on it I have no idea what it is or if remove it what it will do in the actual running of it... I'm also a writer so it definitely needs lots of space.
You have definitely inspired me to do this i have 3 old machines and today is Black Friday so ima go to like a Best Buy and but three ssds and put them into each
Hey guys, I really need help with my old laptop Dell latitude 6520 Intel core i7 4g ram 512 Nvidia card 2nd generation How can i make it work better again
Hey guys i found a solution to my problem, First i replaced my hdd to a ssd drive and my laptop become a little faster Then i found that my cpu is sometimes operate a 20% of the actual speed and sometimes it works at 80% so i entered my Bois setting and disable cpuspeedstep or something like that and it work very very very fine than before and my cpu speed is running at 2.78GHz at all time
Sorry, you can't upgrade the internal components of an iPad. If you can, then it will be extremely difficult as you need to know something called soldering.
