🇯🇵 Raw HORSE Meat - What Does It Taste Like!? (My First Time in Japan!)

- If you have ever visited the amazing country of Japan, I am sure you understand a lot of what I am experiencing right now :). For those of you to whom this country is NEW though, wow am I excited to share this week with you.
Welcome to Mt. Fuji! Today, we are starting out with the "traditional dish you HAVE to have in the Yamanashi area," something I am stoked about for sure, however... the contents of this menu might seem a little shocking. Horse Sashimi, eaten with Perilla leaves, minced ginger, and homemade soy sauce, it IS delicious and it is absolutely a must-have experience when you visit Mt. Fuji.
On the side, a hearty stew full of hand-made noodles, carrots, potato, and mushrooms, and then a very cool cooking style is shown in the pressure-cooked wild rice with sweet pork that I order, all the food is new and so appetizing!
So thanks a ton for joining me, and before we get to the meal, I want to say a big thank you to my team KOMKOM!! Thank you for supporting this Mt Fuji Hill Climb event (the reason we are here in Japan), it has been such a blast traveling here with teammate Satowa and friend Jesper. Looking forward to next year already ;) so happy for everything we've done here so far!
Have a wonderful day everyone, and see you for some more delicious adventures in Japan very soon!
Much love - Joel

Sabaidee Joel! Food looks SAEP SAEP or should I say OISHII DESU. Never tried horse before but I'd be willing to. I wonder if someone has tried to make a Laap with that protein.
❤
Wow 😲!! You're in Japan?! I bet it's beautiful! Wonderful video 👍. Love to you, Li, mom and dad 🙏❤️🌈
Tiaaaaaaare!!! Amazing messages as always, I see I missed your rainbow in the message, now this video is ready to go :-) you have given your stamp 😂 thank you for taking time to say hi to all of us, yes oh my goodness yes, Japan just after 24 hours it is probably the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Maybe not in terms of nature but for the WHOLE package, yes! Blown away
Informative as usual and I am looking forward to seeing your take on Japanese culture, food and landscape.
Hi Sarah, greetings and a very happy Friday to you :) thanks so much for the support today, I hope you enjoy the next video as well!
It so so amazing to see culture blend in so well with nature. The attention to details of both the outside world and inside the buildings really is wonderful. Just watching your video leaves me in awe. Another great episode in the life of Joel!
Hello Mikey and Rebbi! How are you both doing? 😊
Heya Mikey & Rebbi.. how’s the journey going with the semi residence in Thailand?
@@billydong9640 Hello Billy Dong! So far it is still a dream for us. On a good note though, I found out that since my Mom is Thai, I can apply for my Thai citizenship due to Blood Rights. I just started doing all the paper work to get that done. If my efforts come to fruition, that would really enable us to move there and work on some plans we love like fostering or helping/owning an orphanage.
@@MikeyandRebbi very nice and noble of you Mike & Rebbi 🙏🙏
@@billydong9640 there are so many ways we want to help there. Single moms get no help financially for child care. We would love to have a type of child care to help those who need it. It would give the chance for moms to bring their child’s if they live near us to bring them with them instead of leaving the child with grandparents. One of my other dreams is to use my experience as a type1 diabetic for 45 years to help families better understand exactly what diabetes is and the options to help control it. I would love to work with medical companies to demonstrate how type1 medications work by example.
I guess I'll whip and spur down to the corral to pick up a little dinner. BILLY don't nag me or you could be next. Thank you Joel for being the glue ( read horse hooves) that keeps the brucrew together. You could have had the horse while watching Young Frankenstein and checking out Frau Blucher.
Horse meat is awesome
Hello, I have had my coffee so I can talk and type. I have to admit I do love the Japanese culture. Hi Lee maybe I can learn something new. Just beautiful 🍵
Amy, thank you for always taking time to say hi to both of us, even when we were thousands of kilometers apart. I hope this finds you very well today! Big coffee cheers I am doing that myself as well right now.
Culinary variety the spice of taste buds.

Excellent to see this name today, hope you’re doing great Jair man!!!
Always well Joel , All the best . Happy to see you getting out there
Lots of cultures eat raw meat. France has steak tartare and the Italians have carpaccio.
I hope you had a great race Joel. Very authentic Japanese restaurant loved getting to experience through you. You always take your time to explain everything and I appreciate that. You are such a gracious person, blessings, safe travels❤
When I was a butcher we use to eat steak tartar at break quite often. Some times I crave it like you would not believe. Glad to see you enjoying it the rawild side :]
Crono trigger, whoa! Craving even?! This really is a unique food, a special food, awesome especially if its quality and fresh, what a cool memory you're sharing :). haha, the wild side indeed... I was slightly nervous just being a new area eating something raw but hey, it was awesome. And I felt great the next day!
@@JoelsTastyBite its a good energy boost. that job was very taxing on the body.
Cool
Hi, Joel.. I happen to know, me coming from the Netherlands (bordering Belgium). There's a Huge Worldwide Trade between Belgium and especially Japan! In 'PONY' Meat as a substitude for Whale Meat. Because for the Japanese taste palate, Raw Pony Meat tastes similair to Whale Meat. Greetz, Vinnie..
💞💞💞 I will take your word on the horse meat🙊🤣🤣🤣🤣
❤❤❤❤
Eddie Borysewicz coached the US cycling team & they won nine medals at the 1984 Olympics. He wrote a book called "Bicycle Road Racing" published in 1985 in which he was recommending horse meat due to it being leaner if I recall correctly 😉 Thanks for a great video!
You shouldn't worry about consumin raw meat. I personnally eat raw liver, brain etc. You literally absorb all the micronutrients from it as oppose to cooked protein. That is the reason why Japan or other raw meat eating populations live a very healthy life.
Amizing food great Video joel 20:16 😊
🤔 Horse meat? * thinks of My little Pony when it comes to Horse Meat * 😳😨 even I have to pass * Munches on an Apple* 😉🤣

Joel, if you dont try you will not know. I had horse served in a dish in belgium back in the late 70s / 80s when we where playing football, covered in a mustard sauce, i can remember we all thought, dry smelly socks covered with a gone off fish batter. But if you dont try you will never know. ( Iam a veggi now😁)
I refuse to ever try horse, another of man's best friend that helps to work, has helped win wars an settle the wild west.they are beautiful an majestic
Great video! but, ya, I'm allergic to horse meat. Don't ask how I know.
