Hi there, thanks for the comment 🙂. It's great that you're still riding your Mille; such a rewarding bike! Sadly TH-cam doesn't have a direct messaging facility, but I bet it's a stunner! Ride safe ☺
She is a beautiful looking machine. They’re getting better looking with age and look so much nicer now than most of the bikes of that era. I need to add one to my aprilia collection before the prices start to climb
Yeah I couldn’t agree more. I love just staring at it. The matte black and all the carbon fibre 🤤. And such a great bike to ride too! I was really surprised. Well worth it mate 😊
Glad you're enjoying the gen 1 ,as I constantly do I have never got bored of mine and I've had it for twenty years so far . The island looks fabulous also. And yes you can adjust or sync the throttle bodies but they don't normally go out but the trims will help your fueling Do a plug check to point you in the right direction.
Hey Chris, got an 2003 RP, not an R. It's a beauty to ride but she made my life hard. So many issues and again at the workshop. Hoping to ride it again in a few days. Greetings from Bavaria Felix
@@felixfeuerpfeil3394 Haha from what I’ve read about these bikes you’re certainly not alone there 😂. I think they are such an iconic modern classic and I stop and stare at her every time I see her. But yeah, they are prone to issues. Fortunately, I think mine has had a lot of care and love over her time, especially by the last owner for sure. I’ve only owned her about a year so maybe it’s just a matter of time, but so far I’ve had fairly plain sailing other than headstock bearings needing tightening up due to too much grease when being repacked potentially, a side stand switch, and only last week a blocked petrol tank drain due to corrosion at the bottom. Not massive jobs really, but when I look at the Fireblade parked next to her and recognise that I’ve had that bike for nearly 10 years with not a single issue, it does make you realise that they can be a bit temperamental 😂. Hope you get it sorted soon mate and ride safe 👍🏼
Great vid buddy. Thinking of a little trip to the island. Beautiful bike, always wanted one as love the 90's bike still. Can you still get parts for the rsv ? 👍🏼
Thanks mate 😊. Well worth a trip there, it’s fantastic for riding! As for parts, I’m surprised at how reliable these are compared to what I was expecting. And I buy most of mine from AP Workshops who seem to stock a lot of parts for them. And there are always sales and spares being advertised on forums and Facebook groups too 👍🏼
if your in douglas practice/race week after 6 am and its raining the caff is usually open its opposite the bus station in douglas left at the roundabout as you come off the boat and straight over the next roundabout on your right hand side had breakfast in there when we arrived at 5.45 am and didnt think it was fair to check in quite that early at the hotel
Thanks for the heads up there. Will definitely put it in the diary for next time. Can be a long day in the rain if you arrive at 6 and can’t check in until mid afternoon, and still 3 hours before you can get a brew!
Lovely bit of riding. If you can handle a 150/160bhp blade, i would humbley suggest you're not an intermediate rider riding like that, getting some nice lines and angles . I have the bog standard rsv1000 first generation millie, * well not as flash as yours but suit's me ok, its been modded by various people, its had 3 owners before me, and its now over 20 years old on a 04 plate, its had lowered gearing on because from standard it is over geared, i got a 16 , 42 sprockets on it,, so still good acceleration, the previous owner or owners had put a nice period can on that sound's lovely, i think they put a different chip in it, and i put denso irriduim plugs in it*(and yes they cost a lot but money well spent) helps it start on the button first time, someone has put a uprated started solenoid on it,, thats a great idea,, helps the sprag clutch, its had a heavily duty Yuasa ttz14s battery on it..its had its suspension rebuilt ( front &rear) its had its panel work painted) twice sadly, once because of the garage dropping it,,once because i dropped it,, new rear caliper, thats another point( rear caliper had seized because it had collected water in a recces or hold on caliper, poor design, had to shell out over £100 ,for new one..grr, ooh front caliper has been rebuilt, various services as you would expect. They aren't cheap to run...oh and get either a oberon clutch slave cylinder or jet from ap workshops, i intend to , ohh and another thing the seal on the slave cylinder can perish turning the fluid black, Google it. Ohh and put heavy duty leads from the battery on it,, better quality then original again from ap workshops, and you can get a airbox mod called a evo airbox mod from ap with better quality airfilter .
Ha well thank you for the compliment. I really enjoyed that trip! Sounds like you’ve got yourself a nice bit of kit there. They are such lovely bikes but do need a bit of TLC as you say. Thanks for sharing your experiences and words of wisdom there. I have purchased the Oberon Clutch Cylinder and will add it to the winter job list; but wasn’t aware of the issues with the seal so thanks for the heads up! And yes I seem to be helping keep AP Workshops in business having spent a fair amount on parts recently ha 😅. I have done the 150 amp starter solenoid and uprated battery cables. Exhaust collector mod, FR200 Eprom, Akra exhaust, new sprockets to modify the gearing, new screen which is the size of a small family car windscreen... air box mod and Fireblade side stand. I think I’m coming to the end of my journey with modifications and can now sit back and just enjoy riding her (he says… until something inevitably breaks!). Cheers again for commenting and ride safe on your Aprilia 😃
@CharltonsClassics I was very lucky the previous owners/owner had done alot of the mods, eg the chip, the exhaust, the solenoid, the sidestand, it had carbon fibre rear hugger,, carbon wings on the front, double bubble screen, they had really looked after it,, the gearing had been done with d.i.d chain and sprockets with renthal on front, rear was talon. It had 3 new ignition barrels with keys,, spare rear light lenses, u name it it had it,, had the rear seat cover that normally goes missing to...plus it only had around 22 thousand miles on when I brought it only got around 26,to 28 on now. Got a akprok,, not spelt right thar sounds lovely on it,, came with the original dustbin lid exhaust can that's the size of a lorry and weight as much 😀.
@CharltonsClassics there is actually a airbox mod you could do to stop oil going into the airfilter because aprilia put the drain in the wrong place. I didn't know but I found it on utube the person gives a neat fix .. search it out.
@@paul8161 Sounds like the previous owner really took care of her, and sounds like a keeper to me! I'd like to think that these bikes will be appreciating classics as they are so iconic and just look incredible. Also nice to hear that you're using it and putting some miles on her. Beats laying them up as ornament pieces! And yes the original exhaust is pretty unsightly at the best of times. Took me ages to source the Akra, but what a difference it made to the bike 😃
@@paul8161 Yeah I was reading about that and looks quite interesting. I also spoke with Griff and he basically said it's a but unnecessary - just make sure not o overfill the oil tank and you should be OK, so I think i'll stick with that approach for now lol...
Love it! I have a 2002 mille and will be heading to the isle of man this summer for a play. What screen is that you have? I'm looking for a bigger screen than standard and that looks ideal
You will definitely enjoy it mate. So the screen I have is the Zero Gravity Double Bubble. I bought mine from moto vision (based in France I think 🤔). Can’t fault it. It’s huge but looks proportionate considering the size of the Mille. Based on my lead time if you order it today you might have it by 2025 😅: www.moto-vision.com/en/article/37641-double-bubble-screen-zero-gravity-aprilia-rsv-mille-r-2001-2003
Great video aww fog is pain in ass on bike or in car 😂 savage bike got ride my friends im like a duck to water on bikes🤣 i found cbr1000rr best or me tryna explain to non riders when i ride naked is bikes name 😂😂. beautiful scenery, port saint mary beautiful, tt some spot keep her lit🏍️💨💥🍀
been over the mountain course in a few TTs, last a TTS and i can tell you that about 120 , it gets very floaty and the brakes dont instill confidence one bit "sports cars" they are not
So the Tuono would win on that front, with its electronics and sat up position and all; but the Mille was surprisingly comfortable for me with back to back long days 😊
@@CharltonsClassics Cheers Chris, thanks for that 👍 I did have an RSV 1000 in 2002, it was a surprisingly good and reliable bike, but lately I’ve had a real fancy for a V4 Tuono, ( in the speed white colourway 😍 ) the only thing that puts me off slightly is their reputation for drinking fuel, realistically what range do you get from a full tank until the reserve light comes on ?? I also have an 899 Panigale ( which I’m keeping) and that’ll do 110 - 120 miles before reserve light, anything around 110 ish I could live with 🤷🏻♂️ Cheers 👍
@@1956colinb I mean, the tuono in those colours with an Akra would be an amazing bike to ride. The torque is incredible. I think out of the two I'd be leaning towards the Tuono. I haven't done a proper MPG test on mine yet, but I've never really worried about fuel consumption. If I was buying it to tour on then maybe it would be a consideration. And after around 100 miles I'm ready for a stop anyway...
So apparently I need to adjust the ‘trim pots’ on the ECU. There are discussions about this on the forums, but I think il leave it until I can find time to take it to AP Workshops and let them do it properly 😂
Love the video, where can I send you photos of my 2000 RSVR MIlle, Im in N. Ireland and My next birthday I will be 79, still love ride the bike.

Thinking about it I probably had more of these than anything else, I have had a lot of bikes, must look out for another.
