    Something I thought of post-render: If I rename everything to MaritimeTrent, and then _do_ decide to change my name down the road, then I'll have to rename everything again. Although I suppose it wouldn't be a big deal that time around.

    I'm partial to both "MaritimeTrent" and "MaritimeGirl".

    Good on you for deciding to keep your name. You shouldn't have to change it if you don't want to, as all that matters is that you like it and are happy with it.
    As for the channel name, I personally like "MaritimeGirl" but again, it should be entirely up to you. I can understand you not wanting to have a female sounding username when you still have a male voice, but it may not be as big of an issue as you think, there are after all plenty of females out there with fairly deep voices, so some people may not even notice. Particularly as your voice is not super deep to begin with.
    Again, as with your own name, all that matters is that you're happy with whatever you choose. So if people are pissed because you change the name of the channel, then that's their problem and they can go jump :P

    If you have anxiety about going out into public as a woman, I strongly recommend you try going out with another woman at first.
    I was really scared at first but my girlfriend and I started going places (usually just places like fast food restaurants or Target), and after 4 or 5 times it got a lot less scary to the point where I don't really even think about it anymore.
    So if you have any female friends, maybe try having a couple of "girls days out" - it helps a lot.
    As for the name - I really like the way that MaritimeGirl sounds - to me it just kinda feels like it's the same name but with the gender toggled. And I agree that it would clear up people asking if you're a boy or a girl.
    That said, MaritimeTrent doesn't sound bad at all either. Basically, brand names are supposed to reflect who you are, so I think ultimately you'll need to ask yourself which part is more "you", being a Trent or being a girl? (I mean specifically in terms of the "title", obviously you can 100% be both a Trent and a girl. :) I personally think it's cool that you're keeping your name.)

      I have gone out with someone else twice, so at least I have that under my belt.
      And thanks for the feedback. :)

    When you mentioned how "TheMaritimeWoman" wouldn't flow, the first thing that popped into my head was "TheMaritimeMistress." Lol, probably not the name you're going for. I do have some actual suggestions though. Keep in mind that I have a very dry, tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, so these will may or may not seem cheesy: MaritimeDenizen, TheMaritimeite, and MissMaritime.
    At any rate, glad to hear you're comfortable with your name. After all, becoming comfortable with who you are is the primary objective right? Good luck with the re-brand!

      A name such similar to TheMaritimeMistress could possibly do. It clearly expresses that Trent is female while retaining the alliteration of the original username. Following this model, I would like to suggest TheMaritimeMaiden and TheMaritimeMatriarch.

    My first name is John. I definitely want to change it to a feminine or gender neutral name. I kind of like Lisbeth or Denise to use as my new feminine first name. But using either of these names would require a legal change. I really prefer to avoid going through a legal process to change my name. During my childhood I was called Johnny. My sister still refers to me as Johnny. Johnny is considered a male name but is on rare occasions used as a female name. However using Johnnie is considered a female and a male name. Because of the spelling, "Johnnie " is more feminine than "Johnny " but both versions are pronounced the same way. Using Johnnie sounds pretty cool. Also I maybe able to Johnnie instead of John on my legal documents if not I can continue using John for legal purposes and use Johnnie as my feminine nickname.

    I like the name Trent myself and am glad that out of your own free will chose to keep it. When you said "Nova" PBS came to mind. I thought of "themaritimeman" referring to "mankind" not your gender but that might be just me. I know this might sound stupid but "themaritimehuman" or "the maritime person" come to mind. I also like "themaritimegirl". I like the "the" in the username. Say for example you chose maritime girl. Well there are many maritime girls (I assume as I've never been there) where as the "the" sets you out from the crowd. She's "themaritimegirl". Maybe it doesn't help I love the subject English in school. It might be like how I still don't 100% understand the "they" pronoun. It's always referred to multiple and the person using it is only one. I still have used it with the few people I've met with that preference it just felt weird.

      @themaritimegirl2  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They is commonly used to refer to one person. At least, it is in my area. When you speak to someone about some third person whose gender is unknown or doesn't matter, you use they. "I asked them", "they told me", etc.

      It has not been all flowers and roses, by any stretch. I shared the good stuff because I didn't want to make people sad with the negative stuff.
      My transition was filled with stress, self-doubt, and fear for my well-being. Even four years on, all this time later, the hormones have finally caught up to me and I'm now dealing with a ton of weight gain. But holy crap, I would never go back, that's for sure.
      Everybody's transition has ups and downs, and that's totally okay. You are beautiful and valid regardless of how you feel or how you think the world perceives you. And whenever it feels bad, you can be sure that it will pass.
      Now go forth and flourish

    Socks and sandals.....I mean you ain't no Linus but I think you can pull it off.
    I like the name Trinity quite a lot actually, I like unique and uncommon names too (I actually just like unusual things in general). Also it keeps the same initials and can be shorted to something similar sounding to Trent, so when morons like me still call you a man from time to time it'll be easy to remember. It's also the name of a female character in the show Trailer Park Boys and especially in the later seasons she's hot af and totally my type.
    Maybe you should just use your real name as your "brand" like what I do with my channel. Luckily I started that when I was small enough that nobody cared so it was never an issue. Also if you change yours my username thewarragulman will no longer seem like a cheap knockoff and something that I stole from you when I was 12 lol.

    The cooling fan on your video card does not sound too healthy, it sounds like a whipper snipper. Anyway, getting to a topic you've raised a few times. You've said that when you're transitioning from male to female, you're voice doesn't change, at least that's what I understand you to be saying. I know 2 people at least who are transgender, I think they both transitioned from male to female, and both of them have rather feminine voices, their voices are somewhat low in pitch, (one of these people is in her early 70s), but their voices do sound feminine. Though your voice is perhaps a little higher in pitch than a lot of other men, it still sounds masculine to me at least. You've heard my voice on TH-cam I'm sure, and for a man, I have an even higher pitched voice than you do. I've had people mistake me for a woman on the phone, and to be honest I don't like that much.

      HRT alone does not change the voice for MtF people, but it is possible to train one's voice to sound more feminine, and that's what I need to start doing.

    • @Lachlant1984
      @Lachlant1984 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would a voice trainer be able to assist you with this? What can help you develop a feminine sounding voice?
