"What are my chums at the Deathshore Retirement Community gonna say when I tell them my unmarried son has knocked up a Protestant!?" My favorite Colleen quote.
I like the juxtaposition that Colleen never like any of the women Jack dated or married, but she was always okay with Liz, the only female friend of Jack :)
"Two women, Jack! At the same time! What are you? Italian?" That line is funny enough on its own, but Elaine Stritch's delivery elevated it to transcendental. God she was amazing XD
“You give me ten minutes with the Lemon family and I’ll have them tearing at each other like drag queens at a wig sale” One of my all time favourite lines ❤️
Dude Malory Archer is more accurate. She hated Sterlings girlfriends and straight up wanted to kill Katya. Only person she ‘liked’ was Lana. Whose basically Archers second best friend.
My grandma was just like Colleen. She even faked a seizure when we were being bad when our parents were out of town. We thought we killed her. But she promised not to tell our parents if we behaved the rest of the time. I miss her so much.
'I suppose you think that they are more ... nurturing ... than I am.' 'Mother, there are terrorist cells that are more nurturing than you are.' One of their best exchanges.
"No no, I can hear you. I just wanted to see if you hear you." My favorite line in the series with the exception of Tracy's wife "getting my hair did."
@@tipdub there's an episode earlier in the season where Jack says to Liz "you know what I like about you? Those eyes. You have those black shark's eyes. Very intense." So I think the joke is just how similar Jack and his mom really are, that they both pinpointed that same aspect of Liz that they both appreciate.

The best casting EVER. No one could have played this role but Elaine Stritch. I’m convinced that half the time the producers didn’t give her a script-they just told her a vague outline and let her loose on the other actors. :p
Missed one of my favorites, even though it's in one of the scenes featured, specifically in the hospital room. Colleen said something like "Can you believe this is the best room they have? This is supposed to be a *hospital*, not a Japanese internment camp I volunteered at. During the war."
They left out some of her most horrifying and hilarious lines. My favorite is when she yells to Jack on his way into the ER “I love you… but not in a queer way!”
I loved Elaine Stritch's broadway-style influenced voice quality, so smooth like she just finished the last sip of her gin and tonic before putting her cigarette out in an ornate ashtray. Truly a one of a kind that is sorely missed,,,,
This is so much like my mother.😂 “He’s useless in a hospital. I recall this one time where he cried and cried…it was like welling..it was awful.” “She’s referring to my birth.”😂
30 Rock was one of the best shows, ever, on television. Still so funny. The NBE combo of The Office, Parks & Recreation, and 30 Rock might be all anyone needs. One thing that amuses me, is that I know there are people who never found any of those funny.
"...before I meet the Grim Reaper. Who is Black I assume because of all the hoodies he wears." I laughed way too hard at that. And yes I'm Black. ES= comedy legend.
Elaine auditioned for "Dorothy" in The Golden Girls". She tells a funny story how she blew the audition. I'm so happy she got a role just as good on an extremely popular show. 😊
I didn't know this! Now you say it, she would have made a fantastic Dorothy. I wonder what The Golden Girls would have been like as a show, how much better it could have been if she'd have been cast instead of Bea Arthur?

A master class from a master cast. Her and Alec Baldwin look like they are having the MOST fun. I can’t think of any other actor who could have brought Colleen Donanghy to life. Amazing work. Their time at the piano singing the Christmas Song, you could tell Baldwin was having a hard time keeping it together.

Our Lady of Reluctant Integration has a grapevine on hot tea that would make the CIA jealous, no doubt.

A nymphomaniac virgin widow with a latex allergy. I love the way this show just slips the jokes in quietly...

The joke was pretty obvious there
I like the juxtaposition that Colleen never like any of the women Jack dated or married, but she was always okay with Liz, the only female friend of Jack :)
i liked that also, the fact that she approved of Liz the moment they met, says a lot.
She sees Liz as a peer.
She is not acceptance of kindness or weak. And Liz is neither of those.
She also says"oh brother"lil detail
She did give her thanks to the peanut gallery … and that says a lot for Colleen lol

"And I'm handling it."
And right before when she just immediately looks directly at Jack after the seemingly innocuous conversation between him and Avery.

The restaurant scene between Colleen and Phoebe is brilliant. 'I can hear you, I just wanted to make sure you could hear you.'
