    Nice.
I think it would be helpful if everyone put in the comment the various different volts and resistance they used to arrive at what they want.
I am using 10 of these same power supply units.
I used 14k480 for the crowbar and 10k for the pot and got 15.5 volts .
Load test to 70 amps quite easily.
I have had to order 4 more units for a total of 14 to get the desired 1000 amps.
I do not need that much just yet . This gives me a ton of head room .

      Hello,
Is there any way to slow down the voltage to 10.5V ?
By the way, I'm using HP HSTNS-PD18 750W.
      Thank you.

How many volts of mains input were these experiments made with?
      Was it made with 240v?

@mesutyalcin5965 i have done both my set up is 2 run on 110 for a demand up to 160 amps. Or 220 for around 95 amps.
Then for bigger stuff like my 2 x 10 ,i use 4 of the hp supplies at 220 even at 220 tho running 15.5 volts i still only get about 85 amps per each unit.

      @@randyguay7115If I use the same 18k and 47k, will I get 220v and 14v values?

I tried the 18k and 51k and got 14.04...I want 13.8 so will try the 22k and 47k..thanks for the info much appreciated

That's a tight tolerance. But I suppose its easy enough to find the right combo so why not get exactly what your aiming for. 😊

i have similar powersupply (liteon) that came from china as a car battery charger with a digital display and a pot on the top to adjust output amps.. it suddenly stopped working. it have a power on led on the front and it does not come on enymore when i plug it in to the wall.. any idea what might have blown as it was used from a diesel generator to charge batteries :D i had a look inside but could not see any fuses.. it worked for a year but was kept in a cold space all the time..

    Hello :)
I would like to do the same thing with my power supply but mine is the 1400w model (hp dps1400cb a)
Will the procedure be the same? I'm looking to aim 13,8v output. Thank you 🙏

Where does the 2nd resistor get soldered to and from?

I have the same question, am running 240v I don’t want to blow something up😢

At voltages greater than 14 volts, does the power supply not go into protection?

This is a problem I had with lesser versions of the HP PS series.

@@MESUTYALÇINPAŞA For me, 120V. That shouldn’t affect output voltage, at least when unloaded.

Most of us doing this add a resistor to trick the crowbar into a higher volt and amp protection mode

Why didn't you just leave it at 14.8 if you're powering a ham radio as that's well within the specs; wouldn't a little higher voltage actually make it run cooler since amperage is lower? Anyways, did you buy a resistor assortment pack or buy them individually. The assortment packs don't seem to have some of the ones you used or BBI used but a whole lot of ones to low or too high that I'd never use.

One of my radios is sensitive to high voltage. I'm a retired Electronics engineer, so I have plenty of components lying around.

can you lower the voltage to 10V

    • @N5BSB
      @N5BSB  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@Antonyboss-v6s I don't think it will go that low. You might try some different value resistors to see.
