I guess no one down here played the game, Artemy never held a gun before the events of the game, and reluctantly gets the pistol only if the player decides to for self defence. The animations make sense, hell I'd say they are even a bit too clean considering he has no combat experience. The only real mistake as cdata said is that the cylinder can't be manually rotated as it's being done in the game, but everything else is alright.
@SheolAbaddonus666 damn, bro is butthurt because a virtual gun doesn't reload in 0.1 nanoseconds call of duty style. It's obvious you didn't bother playing the game, so you don't have a right to give out your trash opinion.
Man is reloading like a true gentleman , he treats his gun like his own maiden , making sure he don't make any any mistake or treating the gun too harshly . The animations are slow but it's simply elegant
Finally, someone has figured out to reflect the image of an ordinary person who partially does not know how to wield a weapon. In fact, it's a good thing, because not all people are pros.
@@ThatRandomGamer_Main yes, but someone with little knowledge of weapons would try to reload them as fast as they can in a combat situation, desperately and faster, making mistakes when inserting the bullets because they are not used to that situation
I only have one problem with the revolver reload, you can’t rotate the cylinder on the Webley Fosbery Automatic Revolver, since the grooves on the cylinder prevents you from doing so.
For a game that isn't focused on combat it sure has very asthetic animations....if you exclude the unnecessary rotation of the revolver, if it is for the shake of individual round animations they could just make the character rotate the cylinder only when you stop reloading?
Revolver, this reload time is exhilarating! Anyways, the Rifle firing animation is a little goofy... when aiming-down-sights no shell ejects, but you can see it feed a new round. and when you hipfire, you see a round eject but doesn't feed a new round. just thought that was a silly thing to point out
This way, if the reload is not full and some empty chambers are left, the character ensures they have a continuous amount of shots. If they didn't index the cylinder onto the last loaded round and pulled through on the trigger a bunch of times, they'd eventually need to skip some holes to get to more live rounds. With indexing, if the gun starts clicking you know it's completely dry. Of course, you could suggest loading the rounds quickly one after another and then just indexing the cylinder as much as needed once, when the input to stop the reload is given. That'd definitely be faster. But this approach with only three animation stages (open, a single self-contained reload cycle, close) is simpler and more traditional in games. The faster reload would require a bunch of slightly different anims for indexing the cylinder a different number of positions, done in an optional extra step before closing the gun.
@@SheolAbaddonus666 "anyone can use a gun" yes they can pick a gun off the floor with no experince and figure out the controls and how to use it, but to become fast and to reload under stress fast? That takes years of training and also the fact handguns are the hardest ones to master, and also he is using a revolver (which is even harder to reload) and the rifle, yes a rifle is easier to use and master, but a bolt action still takes quite a long time to load.
the game is supposed to take place in Russia at the early 20th century and for some reason they put a WW2-era german Kar98 rifle. but why not a well russian Bedan or a Mosin-nagant instead? i don't get it. and the Citori shotgun looks too modern. any generic side-by-side double-barrel shotgun would suffice or a Baikal Over-under rifle then. the only interesting gun choice is the Webley Fosbery, just because it's a refreshing handgun choice and it give me BF1 vibes , plus it would be easier to animate than a Nagant revolver . too bad they don't change the gun skins.
The original did have a Bedan II, didn't it? And honestly the Smith and Wesson No.3 would make more sense as a top-break in an early 20th century rural Russian setting.
There was never ever a mention that the events of the game are happening in Russia. It's just an unnamed country and the town is in the middle of nowhere in the magical Steppe. Spoiler: it's just 2 kids playing in a sandbox who orchestrated the entire play.
Because the game is not in Russia or any real world country. It's intentionally anachronistic, spanning items from 1850es to 1960es, with mixed up cultures and geography not unlike the real world. The game takes place in a town northwest of the country's capital. If it were Russia, that would be Finland or something. How many bull worshiping steppe men there are in Finland?
I love the implication the Kar98 just fires the entire cartridge, since when you work the bolt, a case isn't ejected. When Half Life 2 has better weapon animations than you, maybe put it back in the oven for a bit?
@@AJadedLizard My point isn't that it adds or takes away from their design goal. It's that it's not important to their design goal to make it 100% realistic, it's just gotta convey that it is gun and it shoots
