This music is within this realm of Wonderous sound. Thanks to Billy for the nod & to you guys ❤️🐢🏴😁from near Bournemouth in Wessex PS Stick In The Wheel aren’t metal but fine folksy act from London . I had the pleasure of a few short private messages with Aleah (Trees of Eternity singer) on Facebook before she passed, just chatting about her music mostly. She was such a sweet soul, and her partner made a beautiful tribute video to her. To this day I still miss her from only that small basic interaction, so I can't imagine the loss her partner must of felt and probably still does. It's hard for me to listen to her music now, though I still do. I'll always remember her, and whenever she crosses my mind I wish that if there is another lifetime that I may know her. She is indelible, probably to everyone that knew her I imagine . The good ones are always taken far too soon. 😔

I don't. this track is good, but very predictable. Myrkur is fake in the sense that by way of careful image marketing and investment from Kristoffer Rygg, in just couple of years has managed to achieve what most bands work decades to achieve... (take Chelsea Wolfe for example).
I think a lot of listeners who are avid fans of a genre fall too far into a comfort zone when it comes to their chosen genre. Some artists even leave the genre because of this.
yep she is so fake, leaving her mainstream pop and rock career for those big Atmospheric Black Metal dollars must have been too much to resist. What a sellout. And yes that was sarcasm.

Nothing wrong with being an elitist, so long as your principles are sound. Some of Myrkur's work is actually cohesive with what the Helvete scene - in particular, Varg - saw black metal as: an expression or inversion of European spirituality turned inward as a destructive/entropic process. Myrkur is more "black metal" on a spiritual level than shitty war metal.
This is haunting, dark and beautiful. I've been a fan of Black Metal since the early 90's and this is really good. Maybe not Black Metal but it's absolutely brilliant

But you know Black Metal isn't Black Metal if it's not turning against your own ;)
That was Gylve "Fenriz" Nagell from Darkthrone in the documentary "Until the Light Takes Us." Great documentary. I just saw Myrkur open for Wolves in the Throne Room and Enslaved this week. I had never heard of them before. I am a huge fan of True Norwegian Black Metal, but I was really impressed by Myrkur's mix of Nordic folk music and Black Metal. Black Metal was never ever about blast beats and harsh vocals, they were just the tools that those at the time had available to them. It was about the feeling of grimness, darkness the empty emotionless feelings they had toward the world they lived in at the time. It was about creating an atmosphere of almost sadness at what the once great nation had become. Those who say its not true "Black Metal" probably were not even around Norway at the time of its inception and can never truly understand what it was about. The essence of what it was about has been lost in some backwards fucking pageantry of expensive music videos and overproduced horseshit. This song has some of that essence to it and I salute Myrkur for doing the right thing and not being sheep.
Since when is black metal confined to norway and it's history or even a specific timeframe? So if we weren't "around norway at the time" we can't even understand what "true black metal" is? nevermind bm not being created in norway anyway, why the fuck would this actual danish model with an actually expensive music video deny the "pageantry" of whatever music you are refering to, despite not being from norway? and what in gods name are "empty emotionless feelings", "almost sadness!? over what the once great nation had become" supposed to mean? So u are arguing that all of proper norwegian black metal is some retarded nationalist reaction to whatever the fuck right wing arseholes think went wrong? holy shit check for a disability man.
Adanedhel I would if been happy to debate all of this with you, hell guven the right information I might have even changed my mind. Im not so narrowminded and closed into my opinion to change it. However, all your articulated argument was absolutly ruined by your need to throw in an insult at the end. Childish dude.
I normally don't enjoy female metal singers. I was uncertain about Myrkur as well, but she was just so damn honest in everything she did, which I can only admire. Then I saw her show at Copenhell a few years back, and I was completely sold on her music. The way she carries herself on stage, with that plain salmon dress.... it is something to behold! Pure vision and nothing fake about it. Great talent
What a beautiful and powerful idea. The strength and splendid art that grasps the soul's reins. With true admiration, I realize that Myrkur understands what it’s all about and is excellent at it. Keep it up, and the number of devoted followers will grow. Thank you
Avec ce morceau, c'est le début pour elle d'une longue et prometteuse carrière! Quand on l'écoute une fois, on ne peut plus s'en passer. On l'écoute encore et encore!
dean mastrantoni she’s personally stated she doesn’t associate herself with the black metal genre, and is just partially inspired by it, so I don’t know why you’re still here complaining. Honestly, go listen to something you like and shut up.
She's an artist and a good one. Haters saying she's fake. If she wants to make money out of black metal. She definitely have chosen the wrong kind of music. What do people think bm artist are making millions or something. I heard her pop stuff. They won't really pop more indie I should say. Haters are just jealous
Really enjoyed seeing Myrkur playing live. Think Mareridt is an eclectic, inspired album full of quality. Stay true to your black metal influences and continue to fuse them effectively with your own musical innovation. Brilliant
Personally I love Myrkur. She's like an Enya that isn't excruciatingly embarrassing or a Bjork that doesn't pursue the ideal of eccentricity to the point of being self-indulgent. And, bonus of bonuses, she has great melodies.
Successful model wants to parlay that success into the realm of music. Fine, stuff like that happens all the time. But instead of going into pop, she chooses one of the intentionally least accessible music forms in existence. Even most metalheads dislike black metal. Whether she’s good at it or not (I haven’t dived deep but she’s better than A LOT of black metal IMO), it’s telling of her musical taste and willingness to delve into the dark and weird, likely fully expecting backlash. AND she’s adding a different spin, rather than being the world’s 10,000th Burzum/Darkthrone clone. I respect it.
what a nice thing to see in the morning... this is gorgeous. takes me back to when i was in Norway, the south tho not the illustrious north. this is an art video. this should win an award. mainly for photography and the music is ace too. reminds me of Medieval Babes from the 90s. what happened to them? the singer here has good simple tats, love the runes and cat. id love to see Myrkur live...
I found you from your 90 second video of like a violin looking instrument and it was very soft and calming Norse music, so yeah...you damn near gave me a heart attack when the guitars came in.
I think one of the best songs of Myrkur. No mater that is so much hate her. She have a good ideas, fantastic melody and a lot of misticism in those sounds. Good work! Jeg tror det er best sang fra Myrkur. Spiller ingen rolle om det er så mye hat i nette. Hun har bra ideer, fantastiske melodier og masse mystikk i disse lyder. Bra jobba!
I find the general butt-hurt surrounding Myrkur to be completely and adorably hilarious. I mean, the main argument of these people seems to be that Amalie is somehow carrying out her own musical visions terribly wrong... how is that even possible? I understand it must be overwhelmingly consuming to constantly be this worried about the survival and purity of an entire genre, but what the actual fuck? So it is not "pure" black metal. Who the fuck cares? Black metal isn't magically going to die and vanish off the earth if someone does things a little different. No need to worry, my dear elitists. Keep in mind also that the more you guys run around crying about Myrkur the more publicity it gets, surely that is the last thing you want. If it's not for you, don't listen to it. You're only hurting yourselves.
Be gone, you! TH-cam has no place for intelligent, rational comments! We just wanna make snide, sarcastic remarks & try to be funny to make us feel better about our miserable, narrow minded lives!
I actually got into Myrkur through a hater's comment lol! If it wasn't for this passionate elitist person, I don't think I would be listening to this awesome sound. Thank you!
Eh, I think most of the criticism comes from her ripping of Ulver and if it is true then that is a rather valid criticism. I do not know about the details so don't ask. But if is she was a pop singer originally, I do not give two shits about that. Everyone can like and make wide variety of music and not dedicate their lives to one genre. IMHO Myrkurs albums are average in general but she has few truly awesome songs, this being one of them. And her live gig was good too yesterday in Helsinki when she was warming up Amorphis.

EightAndAHalf1 Fucking hell, did she kill your dog or something? You sound like an angry 12 year old. Calm down and don't listen if you don't like it.
sidarist
Yes !! Thank you
I've used this one for a final boss in my d&d campaign.
Epic
Ooh im stealing this! Ty
this is an undeniable fact: Music knows no barrier
It's awesome to see a woman doing this kind of masterpiece
@@V-I--pr9xp You woudn´t talk that way of your mother or your daughter , i bet.
Jose Manuel Caballero is hope you’d be proud if a ember of your family became successful. What exactly is wrong with this?
@@Amateur_Pianist_472 Hi, someone deleted the original message to which reply was devoted.
Have you checked up Runhild Gammelsæter from Thorr's Hammer? Girl was 17 at the time.
Great talent
obscure sphinx, jarboe, diamanda galas, brutus, lingua ignota
well i thought there were more but my brain stopped working
I love it! Amalie you are amazing, I can't wait for new album.
Amazing girls, voices and atmosphere!!!!
What a beautiful and powerful idea. The strength and splendid art that grasps the soul's reins. With true admiration, I realize that Myrkur understands what it’s all about and is excellent at it. Keep it up, and the number of devoted followers will grow. Thank you
I love Myrkur from her first videos on fb years ago, and the release of this piece made me cry
So massive and awesome. Thanks for these miracles, your music is brilliant.
Divuar LaCroix you’re handsome 😩
dean mastrantoni I think you’re mistaking Myrkur for In This Moment and Butcher Babies...
dean mastrantoni I never said was, but neither did the original comment.
dean mastrantoni she’s personally stated she doesn’t associate herself with the black metal genre, and is just partially inspired by it, so I don’t know why you’re still here complaining. Honestly, go listen to something you like and shut up.
hahaha thank you :D
I *LOVE* her scream at 2:22!!!! It takes a lot of balls to be secure enough to express yourself like that on a recording! Fuck yes!!!
this is so mesmerising??? and the visuals are soooooo beautiful!!!
She's an artist and a good one. Haters saying she's fake. If she wants to make money out of black metal. She definitely have chosen the wrong kind of music. What do people think bm artist are making millions or something. I heard her pop stuff. They won't really pop more indie I should say. Haters are just jealous
Some metal fans call everything which isn't extreme metal "pop" no matter what the music is.
Most of Metalhead are conservative
Yeah, Metal def won't bring in much food to the table, so it's a rare genre to be wanting to get rich off.
@Lovaniensia There's a difference between subjectively not liking something and a "hater".
Metallica is ''pop''.
Darkened folk metal I love it
"Darkened folk metal"
I like that label.
One of the best things I've seen/heard in my life.
I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS BAND!!!
Seeing them this weekend!
Our planet is such a jewel and yet we are the worst keepers.
damn right
We're the disease.
we cannot live with out the planet. the planet will go on after were dead.
Well that's because it was never our planet.
@Hickock 88 not Christianity, greed. Greed corrupts even the purest things
Saw them opening for Solstafir today and I was blown away. Such an amazing performance.
3:30 When the drums kicks in in the background
Successful model wants to parlay that success into the realm of music. Fine, stuff like that happens all the time. But instead of going into pop, she chooses one of the intentionally least accessible music forms in existence. Even most metalheads dislike black metal. Whether she’s good at it or not (I haven’t dived deep but she’s better than A LOT of black metal IMO), it’s telling of her musical taste and willingness to delve into the dark and weird, likely fully expecting backlash. AND she’s adding a different spin, rather than being the world’s 10,000th Burzum/Darkthrone clone. I respect it.
Lmao, wouldn't that be splittetcore or danger music?
Beautifully said
Agreed.
what a nice thing to see in the morning... this is gorgeous. takes me back to when i was in Norway, the south tho not the illustrious north. this is an art video. this should win an award. mainly for photography and the music is ace too. reminds me of Medieval Babes from the 90s. what happened to them? the singer here has good simple tats, love the runes and cat. id love to see Myrkur live...
Refreshing to hear a dark, black metal theme with the enchanting music. Well done!
I don't usually get hooked on a song immediately, but I was sold on the first spin. Excellent.
Wow! Intense, deep, haunting. I love it!
Song like Enya mixed with black metal
Urban Plague completly right
outstanding observation :)
I LOL'D
Gajoss X I love enya too
Eve une Silmariën yes sweetie
This is beyond epic. I absolutely love this. So powerful and massiv, yet so fragile and melodic. A perfect combination in my ears.

😭😭😭😭😭😭.
I found you from your 90 second video of like a violin looking instrument and it was very soft and calming Norse music, so yeah...you damn near gave me a heart attack when the guitars came in.
Haaa, big same. Glad for the adventure though. Also, its a nyckelharpa.
Very beautiful song. When it came finally online I went straight to TH-cam and started listening. Very nice song. Love it.
that scream still gives me chills 😨🖤
I think one of the best songs of Myrkur. No mater that is so much hate her. She have a good ideas, fantastic melody and a lot of misticism in those sounds. Good work!
Jeg tror det er best sang fra Myrkur. Spiller ingen rolle om det er så mye hat i nette. Hun har bra ideer, fantastiske melodier og masse mystikk i disse lyder. Bra jobba!
This stirs the heart. Then terrifies it.
So good. Now I can't stop plying it.
I've never heard of MYRKUR before. It's beautiful and haunting at the same time.
Utterly beautiful music and i can`t get over how enchanting this woman`s voice is.
> clicks video expecting chill folk music
> gets fucking epic blackened folk metal
> mfw I came looking for copper and found gold
So much fucking personality . Simply put, she's a great artist. Can't wait for the new album to come out
I can't wait for this shit. She's so fuckin awesome
Ahhh yes, I TOTALLY AGREE. She's selling out by making high-quality black metal. . . adds up doesn't it?
Typical poser :D
Yep, it's like I always said: "Wanna get rich and famous? You gatta release Black Metal!"
LOL...the fact that you hate her so much yet waste your energy shit talking her......hilarious.
@@Sean-fv4wi ...lol🤘
@@Sean-fv4wi LMAO!
Her and Emma Hewitt are currently my favorite artist to listen to on repeat.
It's one of the most beautiful and artistic music I've ever heard.
1% of the comments - people complaining it's not a "true black metal"
99% of the comments - "heroes" complaining about people complaining that it's not a "true black metal"
Everyone eating his own tail.
And then there's us:
complaining about comments that are complaining about people who are complaining about the music.
What the fuck is black metal? Is that the music version of 72 genders?
@@PatRick-hu1nq And there's complaining about complaining about comments that are complaining about people who are complaining about the music. Hmm...no I don't wanna start that thread, it can get messy.
@@sae2705 wanna complain? :D
What percentage of people who like the music but hope it's not true black metal because black metal neckbeards are pathetic children?
Wait, people say this sucks?
This is actually kinda awesome. Doom Death meets First Utterance era Comus.
Love it.
Kinda makes me think of Agalloch, only with more vocal harmonizing
This song is a master piece 🖤
This is insane how have I not heard this before. Stunning, moving.
Elemental and powerful!. Back to the roots of our people.
I don’t understand why so many dislikes 😔 she’s very good and talented
Amélia, your voice is magic, greeting from Madagascar
I have no idea what she’s singing and this isn’t my style of music but this video is GORGEOUS
The atmospheric aspect is amazing, just WOW!
This magic tunes from Myrkur, makes me soo stoned! I love this!!
