I have been blessed to fish for a lot of species of fish in countless ponds, rivers, lakes, and 2 oceans. Massive sharks, Mahi etc.. But I get more excited about and more frequently target bluegill and perch than anything else. I paddle out in the canue or kayak and poke around all day chasing them. And hands down the best eating fish I have had except strawberry grouper.

Bo , you wanna really have fun a low budget wrangle yourself up some 1/4th quarter ounce Texas Rig weights and Texas Rig a eagle claw 2X treble hook with a bite size "Banquet Brand Maple Sausage" and God almighty hold on tight , cause last year i did what im telling you and Dude i caught a bluegill the size of my hand on all 3 treble hooks seem to me that once Bo saw ole maple he decided he had to have that maple sausage bite size , plus best part is Banquet is only $2.00 per pack used to be $1.00 but due to inflation prices its gone up to $2.00 cheapest blue gill bait you can get i personally proved to myself that the home made baits work better then the artificial sporting goods store bait. Personal Exsperience of mine

@K RDP In Missouri and Arkansas I found them to be fairly easy to target. And crickets were king. My dad and I kept over 100 on many occasions in the late 70s and early 80s. In Florida they are actually a real challenge to target in the swamps. And trust me. They will eat night crawlers and crickets. And that's about it. There is so much natural food here nothing but what they eat really works. Catfish are the same way. Ypu need golden shiners or a massive ball of worms. And trebbel hooks are illegal for natural bait fishing. Another twist with Florida is the beds are tiny and the schools are also tiny. Very scattered. You look for a little patch of grass amd work it for 10 minutes and move on. Drifting is best when they are not schooling. The swamps are really tough for brem even though there are billions of them.

@@tireballastserviceofflorid7771 this is why i always adovacate and tell other anglers Research your state laws to find that loop hole in Georgia its 100% Legal to use treble hooks for channel cats or bream

@K RDP Florida is one weird state to hunt and fish. Huge amount of zones. And some zones are islands inside zones. Different antler counts and bag limits in every zone. You can use brem for bait in Florida, but only if you buy it. Has taken me a few years to get up to speed on things. Adds a lot of stress to an otherwise relaxing hobie. Once I was fishing for snapper and had done hours of research. Turns out I had to use a circle hook not a j hook in salt water. I ended up having to order hooks because nobody locally kept #4 and #6 circle hooks. Anyway it's still a decent place if you don't mind the people.

@@tireballastserviceofflorid7771 right thats why i 100% say research and leanr your state laws , because here in gerogia just cause i can use any type of tackle i want dont mean other states allow it , for example in texas they are strict as hell

Bo , i agree with you Bream taste so good that i have personally ate them with the scales on never really bothered or disturbed me , i also learned that about september dont be afraid to fire out a strike king 1/8th ounce / oz spinnerbait you can catch them on that or on a Texas Rigged Maple Sausage either way as long as you give them bream something they want to bite you'll be able to catch them honky dory no problem
