I love this spin, the color guard from my high school taught us this spin. When we learned the spin she would have us say "Down, Jab, Over, Jab" to help us remember the spin, if we did the toss we would add a "Release and Catch". Kind of like a jingle to the counts.
this on legitimantly got me. i think the first every move that got me was a around the world. then after i got it. i was like REALLY IT WAS THAT SIMPLE
There's lots of companies that will sell individual flags. Check out American Band Accessories and you can order one right from their website! And yes, I actually did a whole video about tossing in the wind and how that should affect your technique.
+king gus some instructors would say that, yes. However, it's far more common for speed spins to be called double time. We do have a video on those as well!
Melody Murder I learned this in high school as well, however I have never actually seen it used outside of DCI and occasionally in WGI. When I marched DCI we would have to do 500-1000 counts of these babies together in our basics block! They make for a pretty toss prep, though, you should check out the Peggy Spin Toss video :-)
+Lauren Thomas I have heard of some instructors teaching these and calling them double time, but it is more common for speed spins to be called double time. Peggy spins are a completely different spin than speed spins, as I explained in the video, and look different mostly because of the speed change and the change of spin size.
Karson Green Actually, if you watch the video you will see they are Peggy Spins. We have another video on how to do Drop Spins as well if you would like to learn! I know a lot of guards call moves by different names, but we have taken the names most commonly used in our educational adventures across the US and try to use the most common names for each move (sometimes it's the most common two or three names since they are so popular!)
+Alexus Longley Some places do call these speed spins, but there is a fundamental difference in the hand placement of the speed spin and the peggy spin. Plus, the speed spin is about spinning fast (like the name suggests) while the peggy spin is all about the speed change and the dynamic size of the spin (there's a small spin and a large spin).

+Tiffany Beck I love doing chants to the counts!! Makes remembering stuff like that much easier!

Marcellus Estacardo Around the world IS a really deceptive one. I'm so glad you got that!! And Peggy Spins too!!
My highschool calls them speed spins and we use them all the time
Aren't these similar to speed spins?
+Hannah Gruner sort of, but there are some key differences... Check out our spin collection to compare! th-cam.com/video/VevAV6I_QiA/w-d-xo.html
Will you make a video on catching it with your leg
Yes!! It's on the list 😄
I always wanted to learn, where can you get those flags to practice at home? Seems hard to wave the flag when the wind is against you.

This helped me so much! I could not get this at practice but now it makes so much sense! THANK YOU
are peggy spins the same thing as double time?

Ohh gotcha
Haha I learned this one within my first few months. I mean, we never used it lol.
