This was a show built on a shoestring budget and actors that were willing to take 600 dollars or so for the shooting period. They couldn't afford tom hanks. Note that that price couldn't afford a lot of major actors that they got like Kirsten Dunst, but they were in it because it was a side gig that they enjoyed doing.
One item to note, my Great Uncle Norman Nartker was one of those 101st Airborne Division Soldiers dispatched to protect the Little Rock 9. God Bless his soul.

mr rogers was my favorite show as a little kid. at montessouri school age 2-4, i had a hard time sleeping during naptime, so the teachers would let me go in the tv room and watch mr rogers. i definitely think i learned a lot of my early emotional skills from him 😭 also love that Amber pointed out over and over that the Little Rock Nine were just KIDS. i know it really happened, but it's still crazy to me that full grown adults were trying so hard to intimidate and hurt some 14-16 year olds. racism is so beyond whack and it's sad we're still fighting for Black liberation.
All three of these stories were great. I learned about integration when I was in school in the '70s and 80s. I played Clarence Darrow once in the play "Inherit the Wind". And I remember Mr. Rogers. He was the absolute greatest, especially for latchkey kids of my youth.
