Hey, thanks for finding my TH-cam channel! Always nice to have someone discover it. This was a fun discussion. Thanks for the support, I look forward to seeing you around!
Yes! I really try and stick with it. Sometimes when I play a JRPG, that's when I bust out the handheld to play something else when I take a break. It helps a lot to focus on one game at a time to get through my backlog. Thanks for watching!
It's a good way to tackle a backlog for sure. I typically try to pick one game per system that I'm playing, and try to finish that game on the console before moving to the next...unless the game I'm playing doesn't resonate with me, at which point I'll move it to a pile of games I'd sell since I don't want it in my collection anymore lol.
This was a good topic of discussion! It's a great way to get through your backlog! For me, it's really random how I choose to play my games. It will sound silly but it's based on how I feel and what kind of day or week I had. But once I get hooked on a game, I won't let go of it until it's finished! The worst time for me to choose what to play is when I'm frustrated. Because I'm in a bad mood, I have less patience so I press the eject button very quickly when I'm stuck and try something else lol! It doesn't mean that I will never get back to it though (as just now, I'm playing Days Gone and the 1st time I had tried it as per my last save was 2 years ago)! Also, as you already know, I'm a hype man. I get excited for new releases so that will definitely guide my purchases! I'm a physical collector but I'm not afraid of buying digital if there's a good sale! I hope you will make more of these discussion vids as this was fun! Great video and keep up the good work!
I can see how being in an emotional state of mind helps select which game you want to play. Being in a bad mood is already tough to play a game in. I bet it's tough to stick with some games when you're grumpy haha. That's crazy how you can play a game with such a long break like Days Gone!! I'd have to restart it all again haha if I returned to it. Thanks for watching buddy.
Awesome video TC on that backlog and collecting, it’s always good to set some rules when it comes to amassing our collections. For me I have no desire to collect for Genesis or Saturn anymore myself.
I think there has to be some rules that everyone has for themselves or else it just gets out of control! Saturn is way too expensive my friend, too pricey for me. Thanks for watching!
Really digging and admiring your methodical approach to sequencing the systems and working through the backlog in order. Way more disciplined than my very haphazard approach haha. Really enjoyed this one mate. Had no idea how quickly your collection grew since 2020 😮 Have a fab week.
I think it works for me, as I try and give as much time to all my consoles as possible. I kinda got addicted to collecting once 2020 hit haha. Thanks for watching buddy, great to hear from you.
I get my collection of games by letting my husband buy them for me, he does a pretty good job. Most of my games are switch games since that is my preferred console but I definitely have some work to do to catch up on it!
OMG! We are hilarious - you are going to like my video tomorrow!!! :D I love seeing everyone's backlog videos and how they get through them! Great video! :) haha, we are so alike!
Shocking: Tiger is no stranger to ‘breaking seals’… 😏 Hahah, best thumbnail to date, dude! All I hear is ‘WHAT’S IN THE BOX?!’ 😅 Interesting hearing your game selection process. Sorry to hear that you don’t play some of those girlier games. Guess I’ll have to return that _Hello Kitty: Island Adventure_ that I got you… _That’s partially Cynic’s joke…_
Haha thanks man, it took awhile to make that thumbnail. Mainly because I had to carve a hole in a box and then film myself in there. It was not wasn't easy to say the least. You can return that game but if it was Hello Kitty: Love Island I would have enjoyed it. Thanks for watching,
How do I deal with MY backlog? By averting my eyes and shamefully walking past the shelves, easy-peasy. When I DO play a game, I definitely have to dial in my focus on that one title at a time versus game hopping. It's cool that others can do that, but I want the full effect of one game at a time and want to devote my attention to a singular title.
Focus is a tough thing now for me. I remember I could play a game for hours on end as a kid, but as an adult with a cell phone I have to hide my phone or put it away to make myself play the game without looking at my phone every 10 minutes. Thanks for watching!
My backlog is only like 350+ games... lol the amount of yours gives me anxiety 😅 At least the games you collect are only games that interest you! smart to do and not unreachable either like collecting EVERY game out there lol @4:49 that keeps it fun and fresh switching through each console, good idea! @5:43 so there's not even one you won't leave sealed?! @7:08 good idea.. lol I'd have to do that too because my memory sucks I have to stay focused 🤭 unless it's one of those pick up and put down casual games like fall guys or something My approach is I think about what mood I'm in.. do I want to destroy bad guys/monsters (fighting), something scary and dark (horror), or do I want something light-hearted and silly (funny).. basically just go off my mood haha I'd love to go through a collection like yours because you had a few I noticed that I never heard of! great video Tiger!
Dang girl, you have a big backlog too though! 🍑 I don't think I could collect every game out there, too many barbie and disney games lol. Yuck. No game is safe even when sealed, if I wanna play it, I'll play it! Your memory is bad.... remember it's C-R-A-Y-T-O-N not KRATOS lol Well if you are ever in the area, I'm happy to show you my game room and behind the scenes of TC! Thanks for watching, pal!
Post pandemic, I buy what I'll play. I have so many games to last a lifetime. I'll be offloading some games that I picked up on the cheap at some point. Life is too short and precious to play bad games.
Boooo bad games! I'm glad you're making a little money on the side when offloading some of your collection. Thanks for watching buddy and happy gaming!
Buying game to play it, is good plan 🙂I know that sometimes I might play four different games and giving each certain time. But to concentrate on one game at a time is better way to make sure that you sometimes complete it. Then there are games that I only play at summer times. I actually just completed Resident Evil 4 and I have played it many summers.
For the last couple of years of I have done a 14ish console challenge. I pick one game I own physically for around 14 consoles. I work on those 14 throughout the year. I can swap games in or out at will. I like this method because I am not just playing one console although most of what I have beat this year has been 360. Last year I had defender of Oasis on the game gear on my list. The save file got corrupt around chapter 4 and I swapped it out. I haven't felt like going back to it yet. I'm starting to look at games I have decide if I want to put the time in to play and beat it or if it should go. I sold over half of my N64 collection.
@@TigerChainsawVideoGames I decided N64 was a system I didn't care to have a lot of games for. There are a couple dozen that I wanted and know I'll play and outside that I'm good. I'll have to update my dup lists and drop it on discord.
Not buying Saturn is a wide choice for your wallet! I juggle about 2 games at a time. One handheld, one console as well. Though sometimes if a game drops I REALLY want to play, I'll focus on that, then return to the other one.
Well I have plenty of Backlog of the Xbox games from the 360, until the Xbox One in the year 2016, because Microsoft said about the play-anywhere and when you bought the game digitally the game it's yours forever doesn't matter if Microsoft releases a new generation, which is the case of Xbox Series, all the games and DLC that I bought it's come with me in the new generation
No Sega Saturn 🪐 well that sounds like a challenge. No Wii U well Wii U on you. I am going on a rant how dare you sir waving my index finger at you - I am going to tell you how to spend your hard earned money money 😂- Great video keep on collecting or not, whatever you want👾
Hahaha yeah it's tough for me to get into collecting for the Saturn, that sure is expensive! I don't have anything against the WiiU it's just... not on my radar to play. I'm glad we can both agree that people can spend their money on the ways that they want haha. Thanks for watching!
@@TigerChainsawVideoGames Great video enjoyed it - very hard these days to get into “retro” collecting but many system can be played by other means. I am always discovering “new” games on old systems like sms or nes pal or jp region there are so many games we just did not get in the states.
Backlog. Hmm I don't consider all my games a backlog, even if I haven't completed them. I like to mix up games a lot and play whatever I feel like. I buy good and bad games, but intend on trying them all. I never spend over 200€ on a single game. I never have a problem unsealing games. I have them to be played. With retro games I never worry about a backlog. Sometimes I buy a modern game (which I don't that often) and end up not playing it for months. That is a shame and I do consider that an unwanted backlog. Oh and, I started collecting when SEGA announced that they would discontinue the Dreamcast. Never stopped. Have a lot of full sets now, mostly for SEGA systems.
@@TigerChainsawVideoGames I started with the Dreamcast. Don't know when I completed it, maybe 2005 or so. Later 32X, Master System and Saturn. Have a lot for Mega Drive, Mega cd and SC-3000 too. Everything mostly PAL. I don't think I will complete the others, as some games have become far more expensive than my 200€ a game limit.
I spy Perky Little Things 😮😂 Yup, never buy a game just to sit on a shelf and do nothing 👍 Yup, the so called critics on Metacritic are not reliable imho. But there's spme great awful games! Celebrity Deathmatch, for one! There is no method to my tackling of my backlog 😂 Sealed games are the work of Satan! They need to breathe 😢 I play at least three games at a time, but I'm a lunatic 😂
Haha you sure do see Perky Little Things! It's funny you mention Celebrity Death Match, I bought that a little over a month ago! I'm glad we dont have a problem breaking the seal on games. LOL You are a lunatic for playing three games at once. You are a mad man!!
I blindly pick at random, lol. Sometimes I have a specific hankering for a game, but usually it's more like "I have some time... and pick!" I do have a "on deck" list, but it has like 150 titles on it, and every time I play one, I usually add 1 or 2 afterward. I am sometimes interested in playing a bad game, just out of morbid curiosity. It's like ogling a wreck. Definitely smart to rotate through consoles. Saving a "valuable game" is weird to me, as I don't plan on selling my games ever, so it really doesn't matter what it's technical "value" is. So yeah, Crack that seal! I do have thousands of games, and I used to be a completionist, but I had to learn to pivot. I went pretty hard in the opposite direction. So now I only really play about an hour of a game unless I *love it* and then I'll play more. So there are tons of games I've enjoyed, but I only ever played that beginning section because it didn't scratch some deep itch for me. But then sometimes I'm in a different mood, I'll remember a game I started, and I'll go back, restart it, and complete it.
I like your deck list idea. That's a really fun idea! Playing bad games can be "fun" but I don't want to spend money on them haha. Right, I don't plan on selling my games either so it's silly to me when others horde them and won't play them. Wow, you did quite the pivot!! Thanks for watching buddy.
You cannot die with a backlog in place. So the key to immortality is to always have a backlog.
We are all going to live forever!!!
I follow you on X but didn’t realise you had a YT channel. Nice video, subbed and will be exploring more of your videos. Keep up the good work!

The one game at a time rule is fantastic! Jumping from game to game tends to facilitate never finishing a title.

I do the one game at a time rule as well. Saves time by avoiding having to relearn a game's mechanics, rules, maps etc.
That's an excellent point. Thanks for watching!!
