  • Chiapa de Corzo is one of the pueblo mágicos in Chiapas just about a 30 minuted drive from Tuxtla Gutierrez. I dove over for the afternoon and this is what I found. Thanks for watching everyone!

I started the video and got to the Cielito Lindo on the marimba and was just charmed. And then the chat with the 2 players, 1 who was 80 years old and was more charmed. Such a beautiful sound and one that, as you tangentially commented, you wouldn't think would come from pieces of wood. Very nice. Thanks.

I am not sure I like the buzzing sound of that particular instrument - but I really enjoyed watching those gentlemen play and your chat with them. I love the murals in Mexico! That is not the best likeness, but I am pretty sure Benito Juarez is holding the Leyes de Reforma banner. He was the first indigenous president of Mexico - born Zapotec and raised by a family in Oaxaca (you can visit the house where he was raised in Oaxaca). He is credited with enacting many laws that reduced the power of the Catholic church. Next to the Virgin of Guadalupe and Frida - he must be the most iconic person in Mexico.

When you saw 3 steps but it said 4...do they start counting 1 at the ground instead of stepping up 1 and counting?

Oh, I don't know. And I don't know if the elevator rule applies

Did you cooperate economically with the marimba? Those musicians make a living with the money they receive from the passersby.

I usually like your videos but you spent way to much time on that annoying musical instrument. Sorry just my opinion.
