@Nova-Academy But what's your definition of a remix here though? A remix is literally a re-mix of an original recording. So the proposal here is "create your own cover" right? Your own "new" version of a song. The use of the term remix confuses the issue, I think, unless I missed something. If you stick to the term "cover" and not "remix" there will be less confusion.
Dude. I am teaching Media and music rights at university and being a professional composer for 30 years. I think I have a better understanding of this regarding to the european copyrights as you guys ;-)
Songwriter here. I own the copyright to all the songs I've written, and no-one can perform or record them without my permission (and without paying me a Royalty). This includes tracks generated by AI. So, no, you CANNOT legally monetize AI-powered remixes if you are using the melody and/or the lyrics of a song that was composed by someone else. Whoever told you that this was okay had no idea what they were talking about. The person who writes a song ALWAYS owns the publishing rights to their song (unless they choose to sell that right), and you CANNOT monetize a song you didn't write unless you want to get sued and banned by TH-cam (or wherever else you upload them). You are giving people wrong and bad advice here - advice that is going to land them in trouble. People like you make me sick. You want to make money from other people's work, and other people's talents. It doesn't bother you at all that you're robbing people who may have spent years trying to write a hit song (it isn't easy). I wonder how you'd feel if you wrote a song that became successful, and some talentless parasite came along and monetized their own version of it.
The company says they pay the original artist a royalty, so it's not all going to the person that covers it. That's the part that's missing in this video. Still don't know all the legalities behind all this, but if the original artist and cover artist have an agreement/license in place, I don't see the problem.
Most importantly if it’s true than why they are not making remixes and making tens of thousands of money themselves instead of trying to make money with videos like this.
"no-one can perform or record them without my permission (and without paying me a Royalty)" this is possibly a misunderstanding. There are two types of copyright 1. The song (owned by songwriter/publisher) 2. The recording (owned by record label/sometimes artist if they're not signed). I think the copyright discussed here - which it doesn't make clear - is the recording. So can anyone perform or record your song without your permission? Well think about it, as in think about all those covers by every cover band ever, all the cover recordings on TH-cam, karaoke etc. Do they all seek/get permission first? Unlikely. As the songwriter though you, as long as your song is registered to you/your publishing you 'should' still get paid 'something' for that, if that is someone is paying 'something' to a collection agency. Happy to stand corrected, but as someone with 25 years in and out of the indi music business thats my understanding. What is very definitely wrong about all this is the video says to put your name as songwriter, you can't do that legally if the song is already registered to a.n. other which if its fanmous it obviously would be. And you definitely shouldn't unless youre a total scumbag. So if you can register just the recording copyright, maybe you can get away with this, you can't register the song though that's just nonsense.

As an example if you draw a picture and have AI color it for you it can be copyrighted but if AI made the entire picture he cannot.

This only works because distributors like say distrokid or tube core and dsps like TH-cam and Spotify have blanket licenses for the music uploaded on their platform only. If ai write the lyrics, you can put your name, because you the one who generates the lyrics, if you don't want to add your name, just use any pen name, it's ok.
This channel lies hard AF. Those songs were created in 2022. Suno was released in dec 2023. How did he created them with suno if suno wasn t even available. THAT S WHY HE DIDN T SHOW THE END PRODUCT WHICH WAS MADE BY SUNO. The songs that he showed you were actually created by stem separation which exists way long before AI. He took the lyrics from the original songs. Then he put them on a new instrumental which was not made by suno.
Because the result will be crap. Suno start to shine when you at least put your own Lyrics in. The lyrica Suno and co comes up with sound like written and rhyme by a 5 year old ;-)
No one is forcing you to focus solely on remixes. If you want to compose original songs, go for it! There's absolutely nothing stopping you from doing so (:
There's more chance that a cover will be heard and gain traction because people are already familiar with the song title, original artist and melody. Original songs are unknown so they're harder to get heard. That's my understanding anyway.
You know, it's against the term of services to do that, right? You would have been greeted with a big yellow I accept button when you first go to input custom lyrics "Suno is designed for creating original music. Please confirm you will only submit Al- generated lyrics, original lyrics or lyrics to which you otherwise hold right to continue."

@@Nova-Academy So, does it mean that AP provides a Mechanical license for streaming platforms as well as a Sync license for use on TH-cam? Are these licenses included in subscription plans? Or does each cover/remix of someone else's song require separately obtaining a mechanical and sync license before uploading it to AP? For example, DistroKid doesn't allow uploading covers and remixes because it doesn't provide these licenses and requires them to be obtained independently from the original authors.
Very interesting, thanks for posting! Question - how much do you receive in a payoutfor each use of a remixed song? I don't see that listed on Audio Protect. And how many times is a good remix usually used where you receive that payout?

I love this. I will do this. I didn't know how to upload stuff that didn't belong to me. This makes it possible. And I LOVE Suno's cover feature. I write songs, record myself singing them, and then upload that to Suno and do a cover. This gives me a band behind my singing, and can give me a completely new voice. It looks like you're going directly against Audio Protects warnings not to try to copyright songs that were not originally created by you. It's right there in pixels in your screen shot.
Yes you can. But best way to do it is getting distributors like Distrokid, TuneCore, LANDR etc. you register with them and submit your song through them, and they’ll distribute it to 150+ platforms on your behalf. Good luck.
Yes, they changed the prices, no lifetime plans anymore, I emailed them and they said that they did that because so many poeple are uploading music that they don't own and try to copyright it, so I think they want small clients base or something
To remix a song legally, you'll need to buy a copy of the song, obtain permission from the copyright holder, and have that permission in writing or in a voice recording. With regards to your Content ID comment, you still need to have permission to use the content from the copyright owner. At least tell the truth that this is a grift for a while until the major labels wake up ....
Instead of copying the somg i train chatgpt with thr song lyrics and ask it to write a song 10.times better than this and write me a similar song better that the sample
From someone in the entertainment industry, I want to caution everyone about the claims made in this video. The idea of remixing copyrighted lyrics into a new genre or style and then claiming it as your own derivative work without proper licensing is illegal and constitutes copyright infringement. What this content creator is suggesting is for someone to create a derivative work. A derivative work is any new creation that is based on or derived from an existing copyrighted work (song lyrics and/or music), to adapt, rearrange, or transform such original work. In this case, the content creator is suggesting using copyrighted lyrics to create a remix commercially and for profit. Here’s why this approach is problematic: Lyrics Are Protected by Copyright: Song lyrics are protected intellectual property. To use them, even in a remix or transformative way, you must obtain permission or a license from the copyright owner(s), typically through a publisher or licensing service. Derivative Works Still Require Licensing: Even if you transform the song into a new style, it’s still based on the original copyrighted work. Claiming the song as your own and registering it with a service without proper authorization is a violation of copyright law. Legal and Financial Consequences: Unauthorized use of copyrighted lyrics could result in lawsuits, fines, or even criminal charges possibly imprisonment, for willful infringement, especially if you profit from the derivative work. Misleading Songwriting Claims: You cannot list yourself as the songwriter without the permission of the original songwriter(s). Doing so is not just unethical but could also open you up to additional legal action for misrepresentation. I strongly advise anyone watching this video to avoid following its advice without proper legal consultation. If you want to remix a song legally, you’ll need to: Obtain a mechanical license to use the original lyrics and/or melody. Credit the original songwriter(s) appropriately. Share royalties as required by licensing agreements. It's always better to create your own original music or work with properly licensed material than to risk legal trouble!"
It tells me this audio matches another work of art, upload a different audio. It says that every time, even though these are my own creations and never have been uploaded to youtube or anywhere. Very strange.
"Detects your music and sends the revenue directly to you as the copyright owner". This is actually illegal, as the original songwriter MUST be given the writer share (at least) of monies made.

When you copyright cover song you only earn form the SOUND RECORDING, not the COMPOSITION, for god sake, there is a difference between soundwaves and melodies, you as a remixer will copyright the SOUND that your generted, NOT the melody and chords!
For all german users: Illegal af here. You can cover whatever you want, but remixing is out of the table. This american copyright plattform thing does not count here because : "Das Urheberrecht ist NICHT übertragbar." (UrheberSchutzgesetz.)

suno sucks! Read their terms of usage. They say nobody can use anything they create for commercial purposes. and if you upload your own lyrics or music, they will claim it as their own with the ability to sell it or do anything with it without compensation to you. If you're a serious songwriter or musician, don't upload your work to suno (or other sites like this). they will claim your original work for themselves.
I have several original songs listed with BMI, and I have created some music with Suno because I'm a paid member. I read Suno's terms, and I'm no lawyer, so I think I'll have my attorney look it over before I submit any lyrics I wrote and then used them on music created by Suno. Ihaven't submitted them to BMI yet. I know Suno has run afoul of some big record labels, and I understand why.
@@Nova-Academy No not true. :Permission from Copyright Holder remixing or sampling someone else's song without explicit permission from the copyright holder violates copyright law. Even with AI tools, if the original composition or recording is recognizable, it could constitute unauthorized use.
Another shovel seller. Guys, do NOT do this. You ARE using copyrighted material to generate stuff that you still have to pay to use outside of personal use. You can and will get sued by the original song holders and Suno will happily let the copyright holder know it was you using their song to make the song you are trying to steal.
I work for a music distribution company, and this is what I know: The platforms don't allow AI music uploads. Yes, they don't detect all uploads because there is no proper software for that yet, but you risk being banned from the DSPs. Suno's legal note claiming that you own the rights is questionable, and they are being sued by record companies. You write only the prompt, and the result is created by all the musicians who lived before you, and you know it. Why are such things working currently? Because the lawmakers don't understand what AI is; they are busy with more important issues (like taking over Greenland)
There will never be proper software. The world needs to accept AI and integrate it into openly, or it needs to make it so illegal that people are too afraid to post AI content. I think the first option is what will happen, because it's an avalanche that can't be stopped. Musicians will only be used for live performances, and that's it. That's the new reality.
Hi, I'm a lyricist and just now I created my songs with the help of ai from same platform, should I create a new channel where i upload my song's? Plz I need help and guidance about it. Thanks
Hmm why can't you just upload the song... Because it's illegal! This is just one way we are ruining music and you don't deserve to get paid for it. Booi😢

Also its important to mention, that suno got a detection for uploaded audio. It knows if its copyright protected or not
Why not just ask Ai to compose original songs with original lyrics? This way you don't need remix with other artists songs.
Even superstars are remixing other music. Why not?
Because this is a cover song video. 😅
There's more chance that a cover will be heard and gain traction because people are already familiar with the song title, original artist and melody. Original songs are unknown so they're harder to get heard. That's my understanding anyway.
You know, it's against the term of services to do that, right? You would have been greeted with a big yellow I accept button when you first go to input custom lyrics
"Suno is designed for creating original music. Please confirm you will only submit Al- generated lyrics, original lyrics or lyrics to which you otherwise hold right to continue."
brother, thanks for showing me that it was possible to do this, I tried to do it here but it gave an error, you can't use V4 as it gives an error, and really if you use the full letter it goes wrong, perfect my friend, thanks, you are a friend
The lyrics belong to the original composer and they can claim the song
yes, but you still can earn 80% if you licensed it. the key is to license the cover song
@Nova-Academy but suno not allow to remix unless you have the right to do so and you don't
🎶AI music here 😍
Very interesting, thanks for posting! Question - how much do you receive in a payoutfor each use of a remixed song? I don't see that listed on Audio Protect. And how many times is a good remix usually used where you receive that payout?
I emailed them and they said 80%. Problem is, I can't get Suno to accept any audio.
@@reedmoon3630 Assuming that is sorted out, 80% of what?
@@reedmoon3630 Assuming that gets resolved, do you have any idea 80% of what per use of your remix?
It's 80% for you, and 20% for the orginal artist
If I remix famous songs, on the submission form to upload the song, should I provide my name or the original songwriters' names as the songwriter?
Orginal songwriter name, not yours, in case of a remix
@@Nova-Academy Hi if it's a remix from a famous song, when i upload to audio protect, i should put the original songwriter name. should i also put the artist and record label using the original as well or i can put my own artist name and record label?
@@otakuorbit72 the artist and record labels is for you, the songwriter for the orginal artists
suno wont allow uploading of copyright audio material.. so your video is not up to date!
you need the Suno subscibe for the commercial terms too . without this you can only use your songs privately and not for comerz, which means you can't take any money for them
Now Suno stopped accepting lyrics from famous songs. So please use your own lyrics to protect your work.
If you change the lyrics it is no longer a cover and would be subject to copyright striking by the original owner of the song.
If you publish your lyrics to suno anyone can "reuse prompt" so basically you have given it away as a public thing for all to use. They really need to sort out copyright and attribution
@@stevensmith1788 no it will not subject to copyright striking because it still considered as remix with extras on the lyrics, the artist will get their compostion rights royalites through the BMI, ASCAP, etc... (companies that specialize in collecting lyrics/melody royalites from songs) , while you "the remixer" will still get your sound recording royalites through content id.
@@alejandrofernandez3478 yes, but if you copyrighted through content id using audio protect or another company, people will not be able to use your music in suno.
interesting, I thought remixes infringed copyright unless permission is sought from the label/owner much in the same way as using samples
if we are only uploading 60 seconds of audio. how do we add the remaining audio and lyrics to extend the first 60 seconds of the ai generated song ?
nice video is the service of Audio Protect Copyright avaible in every country ( asking for germany here )
Thanks for 4 subscribers 😊
I will produce completely independent songs through Suno Pro plan. When I register the songs to the contect id through this site, do I own all the rights to the song like an artist?
yes
This happens when people have zero clue how copyright works. Sad.
I can even use one of my saved personas.
If I can do this with famous songs, I can pepper my own songs in the same playlists.
I'll get performance royalties for the covers, and full writing and publishing royalties for my own songs.
THANK YOU!
In the video you say that when filling the forms at Audio Protect you should put your own name for songwriter, this has to be wrong.
I just wanted to say thank you for your hard work and amazing energy!
I appreciate that!
Has anyone here subscribed to AudioProtect? Have you submitted your song yet?
You can't to, without permission of copyright. You can generate by AI some lyrics from AI generation, but not from writers. It's not legal. Read Suno 📚 policies.
The one time I tried to use a short instrumental clip by Led Zeppelin, the video was immediately banned world-wide... but whatever.
cool video. just discovered sumo yesterday. in the past i tried it with the songs i uploaded but didnt know i had to copyright them and got a decline by youtube, what do i do next? shall i remake a channel and start fresh? since i have some licensed covers which i am not allowed to monetize on this channel
Great video, how to steal someone else's copyright, then copyright it so no one steals from you 🤔
Does this work on instrumental music generate by Suno? or only work for remixes and covers?
Awesome video! I learned so much from this-thank you for sharing your knowledge. Keep up the amazing work; you're inspiring fellow creators like me!
GREAT STUFF THANKS
You're welcome!
It looks like you're going directly against Audio Protects warnings not to try to copyright songs that were not originally created by you. It's right there in pixels in your screen shot.
this is for "add new track", if it's remix, you must use "add new remix" in control panel, and the warnings will be different
On spotify you must first stream 1k before getting any money, right? How do you get 1000 streams so you can get paid by Spotify?
Promotion, I explained how to promote Spotify using multi youtube channels
Can i release my Ai Song on Spotify
Yes you can. But best way to do it is getting distributors like Distrokid, TuneCore, LANDR etc. you register with them and submit your song through them, and they’ll distribute it to 150+ platforms on your behalf. Good luck.
how about the copyright strike from the original composer ?
good point
Supposedly, they sign off on the license so there's an agreement in place.
Am I hallucinating or did the prices go up by like 700% since this video? It says $65/year and now it is $420
did you try and email them?
Yes, they changed the prices, no lifetime plans anymore, I emailed them and they said that they did that because so many poeple are uploading music that they don't own and try to copyright it, so I think they want small clients base or something
@@Nova-Academy is there any alternative website you know off we can use?
Let the Artists be, if you want to be an artist then write and make your own music instead,
To remix a song legally, you'll need to buy a copy of the song, obtain permission from the copyright holder, and have that permission in writing or in a voice recording. With regards to your Content ID comment, you still need to have permission to use the content from the copyright owner. At least tell the truth that this is a grift for a while until the major labels wake up ....
labels sued Suno and Udio months ago, btw
@@lucagarzeli1899 👍 RIAA sued them, true. You are limited to 120s for any upload anyway...
If i create a song on Suno by prompt do I own the sound recording?
Instead of copying the somg i train chatgpt with thr song lyrics and ask it to write a song 10.times better than this and write me a similar song better that the sample
That's good my friend, go for it!
120 seconds can be uploaded, not 60.
it was 60sec last months
Good Information!
Here’s why this approach is problematic:
Lyrics Are Protected by Copyright: Song lyrics are protected intellectual property.
If you want to remix a song legally, you’ll need to:
Obtain a mechanical license to use the original lyrics and/or melody.
Credit the original songwriter(s) appropriately.
Share royalties as required by licensing agreements.
It's always better to create your own original music or work with properly licensed material than to risk legal trouble!"
big fan of ur work man!!
I appreciate that!
Thanks
I have tryed it with royal copyrighted free music of mozart and suno don't wont exept the music.
It tells me this audio matches another work of art, upload a different audio. It says that every time, even though these are my own creations and never have been uploaded to youtube or anywhere. Very strange.
same too, it happens to my own creations! suno is being extra strict nowdays lol 😂
@@Nova-Academy It was a bug, it's fixed now!
"Detects your music and sends the revenue directly to you as the copyright owner". This is actually illegal, as the original songwriter MUST be given the writer share (at least) of monies made.
the songwriter of orginal song will take a share, it's 20%
It may be legal but it sounds highly unethical.
why unethical? the orginal songwriter still earns up to 20% of the cover song.
Fantastic video!
Thanks!
Question if I choose year plan and then upgraded to lifetime its possible to do so?
Yes I did the same before they introduce the lifetime plan, I was yearly user and they gave me discount to save the difference
awesome work nova you've solved a problem for me! subscribed and liked , how can i connect with you i have some things i'd like to discuss. again love the work put on this video

I'm sure I don't know what you are talking about.
how old is this video???? its a reupload right?! copyright a song you not have the licence is 100% fail so who cares!?
When you copyright cover song you only earn form the SOUND RECORDING, not the COMPOSITION, for god sake, there is a difference between soundwaves and melodies, you as a remixer will copyright the SOUND that your generted, NOT the melody and chords!
For all german users: Illegal af here. You can cover whatever you want, but remixing is out of the table. This american copyright plattform thing does not count here because : "Das Urheberrecht ist NICHT übertragbar." (UrheberSchutzgesetz.)
When you copyright a cover song through Content ID, you're only copyrighting the "sound recording", not the "composition"
There’s a big difference between soundwaves and melodies! As a remixer, you’re protecting the SOUND you’ve created, NOT the melody, chords, or songwriting.
Content ID is specifically designed to generate revenue from sound recordings. On the other hand, organizations like Publishing Companies, ASCAP, and BMI handle composition royalties. By the way, songwriters still earn a percentage of royalties from all remixes and covers of their work.
Unfortunately, I am a lifetime user and they send email saying that many of poeple subscribing are uploading music they don't own, that's why they changed the prices so only small number of poeple can join ):
If I'm going to listen to my songs, I'm the owner of my own music.
@@kodbiljane Yeahh! you generate it, you own it XD
I mean if someone cover you song, you still have % of the revenue as publishing royalties and BMI will give you that money.
@@Nova-Academy No not true. :Permission from Copyright Holder
remixing or sampling someone else's song without explicit permission from the copyright holder violates copyright law. Even with AI tools, if the original composition or recording is recognizable, it could constitute unauthorized use.
SAVEME10 is not working?
try DIGITAL10, it worked for me
Another shovel seller.
Bro is Suno not suniu
it's the same
Hi, I'm a lyricist and just now I created my songs with the help of ai from same platform, should I create a new channel where i upload my song's? Plz I need help and guidance about it. Thanks
This is a total lie. Suno AI owns anything you create. It's in the TOS.
If you're a paid plan user, you own what you create
