Crashed Car Rebuild | BMW F20 M135i | Front End REBUILD! - Vid 4

- Crashed BMW Rebuild, BMW F20 M135i. In Vid 4 of the crashed car rebuild series, I get the new bumper painted and fitted and finally complete the crashed car restoration! With the new bumper painted, I reassemble the front end and with the damaged car rebuild complete, it’s time for a test drive!
The headlights need to go in first and be adjusted correctly before the new BMW M2 competition bumper could go on. This is something I forgot about because it has been a while since I stripped down the car but I got there in the end. Speaking of the new bumper, now it is painted and fitted, I’m really happy with the result.
I would be interested to hear what you think in THE COMMENTS, so please drop me a message! The bumper cost me about £700 all in but a standard M sport bumper would have cost me at least £500.
Repairing accident damaged cars is always costly but Restoring a crashed BMW can be particularly expensive! So, in the next video, once everything is done on the car repair project I will do a roundup of ALL of the costs
This will include:
👉 Original purchase cost for the BMW M135i
👉 All of the auction fees, vat, delivery etc
👉 Costs for all of the parts used and new
👉 Materials
And believe me, all of the above can add up quickly. There are a lot of hidden costs when actually making the purchase. Then, when buying parts, of course, you are always trying to buy used / good condition but in reality, some parts just aren’t available and unbelievably, sometimes the used part costs more than a new one! So, it is always a challenge when working to a budget.
I really enjoy doing the car restoration videos and although this is a damaged car repair UK market, I think a lot of the costs and hidden extras will be relevant to a car restoration project wherever you are.
Maybe these vids will inspire some of you to go out there and do your own projects, or just watch me! 😋 It’s the low risk option (for you anyway!) 😂

Yep, I think the environment could have been a lot cleaner. Also, as someone above mentioned, I think the air pressure on the spray gun was too high and then will have moved a lot of dust and dirt around environment....

Yeah, I think I should have at last had a try at salvaging the painting that I had done, maybe it would have come out half decent. I'll have another try on the next project!

Thanks for the tips, will give that a try 🙂
I hope you try to spray paint again, you will improve. My guess is there was too much air to paint ratio.
Thanks! Watching the video back, the air pressure did seem to be too high. No, I won't give up on it, it's too much fun and can also save me a lot of money during these projects, so the carrot is there 🙂 From other comments, it seems my paintwork maybe could have been salvageable? and also there are a few things I could have done differently to get a better result!
Phil, good work but I would have done it myself, you've bought the equipment so, on u go.
Even with the pro u had to de nib etc!
Did I tell u I bought a 2014, F20, 120d , with 30,000miles, cat N from salvage yard 2 weeks ago. So I've done the same, I bought a A1 condition front wing in same colour for £180 of ebay and fixed up and painted the bumper. Had issue with a headlight but new tms module appears to have fixed it !!
So up for sale soon !
Hi @arnietwo11 Yep, i'll give painting a try again on another project 👍 As you say, in hindsight, maybe I could have sanded back and denibbed the painting that I had done and salvaged it. No, I didn't know about about your project car, miles are super low on it! Sounds like a nice project 😎 I'll probably have my car for a little while longer yet, I quite like driving it!

That straight six is a pretty good sounding engine. I'm thinking about some exhaust work to release a little bit more of the sound, we'll see.
