The footage with the word's "Keltie Byrne incident" is not the incident in question. It was a different incident that occurred decades earlier. I know that TH-camrs use stock footage when footage of the feal incident doesnt exist (at least not the killing itself) but i think its misleading to act as though the footage being shown is the event in question.

Great video. More in depth on the horrors of these cases were how the trainers were always made to look like the fault was theirs and their families were treated terribly... Especially the Martinez family... First being told just he was injured and is at the hospital, then having to wait hours before hearing he had passed etc.
Thank you for this. And anyone interested in the whole story watch the documentary Black Fish, incredible film.

So there are transient and resident orcas, but there are multiple populations of orcas of each type. This is important to consider because when orcas from different populations (even one group of residents vs another) have different ways of communicating. When places like sea world chuck orcas from different populations in the same enclosure they can't communicate with each other well or not at all. Some populations are do different from the rest there's talk of what defines a sub species vs a population.

There are also Oceanic Killer Whales and I think they are investing another group as well. They are also beginning to think that there is not just once species. So these parks were probably mixing different species with different food requirements and different communication styles. Also they were treating them like domestic animals when even when they were breed in captivity they were wild animals that could be unpredictable. Sea World and other parks were extremely stupid and put people's loves at risk because they refused to understand that they were dealing with highly intelligent killers who had evolved to be the top predator in the ocean.

It was Dawn Brancheau's death in that changed everything. Yes, SW is still in business and the whales perform but they're not bred like they were before. We have a long way to go but we've taken the first steps

This is animal cruelty keeping them in an enclosed space is pure evil & isn't looking after the animals well being. That is why I hate zoo's & hate all these aquariums cos these poor animals are suffering just to entertain us. Marine mammal captivity yes but for zoo animals it’s very different, zoos often have breeding programs and in some cases the new animals resulting from that are realeased in to sanctuaries and wildlife parks. It’s just that sometimes they can’t do that for various reasons and even in sanctuaries animals are still threatened by poachers (poachers in Congo once ended an entire newly imported heard of okapi out of anger over conservation efforts and new laws making poaching more difficult)

Leave these creatures alone! Besides protecting them in a reserve or ensuring their well-being in a zoo with a breeding program, do not promote circuses or dolphin or orca shows!
