I'm just wondering if it would be better to mount the pedals directly onto the frame and angle them with their own hardware, instead of using the pedal plate?
@@MonsterPartsRc I actually spoke to him a few weeks before... He found time for anyone that reached out. Had no idea he was struggling. Very sad. Possibly the best representation of sim racing that we had out there at the time. He was the best of us.
I mounted the rail for the shifter on the outer side with the two additional angles that come with the package. Gives you a better adjustability to move the rail forward or backward. First added rolls underneath but soon switched to some silent blocks to get rid of noise that shakes through the chassis.
Not sure what the complaint about the instructions is? Shows you how to put two pieces together and there's not exactly 500 lengths of aluminium so it's pretty easy to figure out which bit attaches to which from the picture....
it is funny how some reviews says it is perfectly fine for dd wheels and others says it is not. I am waiting it to arrive and I will mount a small mige 20nm on it, and I am sure it will be totally OK.
I don’t get any flex on my GT1 Evo using an AccuForce Pro v2 and Fanatec ClubSport v3 pedals. I am 6’1” so needed to get taller uprights for the wheel deck.
Extruded aluminum structure isn't designed to flex - it doesn't. The build quality (or manufacture assembly) would be the problem with flexing. A simple brace or proper construction would fix flexing. And most importantly, those very tiny 90 degree anchor points are WEAK. (look at the 2:25 mark) If those were 3"x 3" with two anchor bolts each face, there wouldn't be any flex. The flex isn't coming from the chassis, its the given hardware. And as a private jet mechanic, we kinda know stuff ;) Take care.
hi, so you think it could be possible to fix the amount of flex of the wheel tray by using some other anchor points and bolts than the ones are given with the rig? thanks
@@_xndrzt Absolutely. like I said, if the 90deg anchor supports were larger and allowing for another bolt on each face to be installed, the would get rid a bunch of flex. Bigger anchor = decreasing leverage. One more bolt on each face = decrease leverage thus flexing.
Does it work well with fanatec clubsport v2.5, shifter sq, and csl elite pedals LC? Or would you recommend spending a little more for GT1? or even P1? Not looking to upgrade wheelbase to DD anytime soon (maybe 2, 3 yrs later) Also, how long did it take to receive it?
So, i cant decide what to get. the Rseat Rs1 or the GT1 evo. atm im using the TX servo, T3pa pros & the TH8a, i will want to add a handbrake which will go next to the shifter in the future.
Thanks for your straight talking review. Seeing it with TS-XW wheel looks the combo for me. I’m after a rally setup. Going from a G29 wheel & crappy basic play seat. Fanatec combo with the accessories for a rally makes the price explode. Or am I wrong? So much choice!
Question, you seem to be the same'ish size as me. How do you like the NRG seat? And how do you fit in it? Have not found any decent big boi review on this seat yet.
No thus guybis obviously an idiot. On simlabs it clearly states yiu have to buy a wheel bar for direct drive wheels. Stock wheel deck is for logitech, thrustmaster or lower end ffb. So you buy the gt1 evo and a direct drive wheel mount
William, at 4:25 you say that the wheeldeck is rocksolid, but at the same time you show the footage and it appears to have quite some flex in it. It's not noticable?.
The Pedal Deck wasn't really the bit that was flexing. Under braking, it was actually the front of the cockpit dipping into my old carpet (sometimes plush carpet does have its downsides xD). You can see the front of the cockpit dip down into the carpet.
Thanks for this review. I am looking at purchasing either the GT1 or the P1 when they are back in stock. Still trying to decide if this will be enough when I eventually upgrade to a Fanatec DD1. My gut tells me to get the p1 for futureproofing. I would be curious about your thoughts on the matter based on your experience with the GT1 and your OSW.
202TheRocker you could just add to this cockpit with a couple of extra aluminium lengths and large metal bolt plates to strengthen it up. That’s the joy of this material, as you can buy these parts later and fit to suit. I just bought one for a clubsport v2.5 and will use it when I upgrade to a dd1
Yes, they recently released an upgrade for it that helps it with DD Wheels. I just mounted it on, and there's a video clip of me testing it on Instagram!
Thanks for the review. According to the Simlab support, the gt1 Evo is more versatile than the gt2 which is more compact. Great video! I just got my fanatec DD1 base and thinking between GT1 EVO and the P1 -X which is much more expensive. Which one do you think is better for a direct drive wheel. Is the P1 -X worth the 400 € difference?
I haven't driven a P1X, but I recently got the chance to drive a friend's P1, and I'd say that the difference is pretty significant. I'd say it would likely be worth the difference. I just feel the main struggling point of the Evo right now is the wheel deck. Granted, I haven't tried a DD1 on an Evo, but I just think there would be more movement than I'd be comfortable with. When I tried the DD2 on a friend's P1, it was 100% solid, felt no flex whatsoever.
I still don't understand why simple cockpits like this are so pricey. Really would like to know what the actual price mark up is....you'd probably choke in my opinion.
Yep that's like saying why did I buy a car I work for no named car manufacturer I know the cost of making that car........ and the price markup for a sim lab rig is less then 20% I know I have 3 of them. When u add in cutting of the profile custom hardware mounts for osw or the wheel deck this has. Your not just paying for the alloy you are paying for the customer service you get with it.
