A dog a hour. I'm sorry but that will be a crappy grooming job. Unless you have someone to bath and dry for you.

Don't feel bad. I also do 6 dogs average.. some days more, but I think she's talking about a groomer who sees dog on a very regular base...like 4-6 weeks intervals, small to medium and well behaved. In these cases you don't need to pre-cut, just brush a little, do sanitary, then water , and finish the dog. Really... If you work 8hrs, you can do 6 dogs allotting 90mins each...without thinking you do anything else!..no giving back or receiving dogs, no texting with clients to let them know their dog is ready, no lunch or bathrooms' visits ...nothing. She might be taking also of someone like those working at her salon... with lots of people doing receptionist, salon cleaning and of course scheduling and admin things 😉

We have a mobile sharpening service, 200 customer base for years. Average If groomer had a bather 12, no bather 8 max. Just run-of-the-mill, no show dogs.

A good profsessional groomer you shoudl be thinking about 3 years having a good number oof dogs each day ( 5 days of work) There's no really short cuts...Theory is easy the practice takes time...Just start working and do not think much about time...maybe You can get there way earlier. Best of luck!

You're probably giving the dogs a quality kind experience, I worked as a bather before I went to college, two women there could do 15 to 18 dogs between them in 7 - 8 hours, and they were generally drying and prepping, one of my tutors told us she did 18 on a Saturday at her second job, but the dogs were coming to her fully prepped, it also depends what type of dogs you have as well, if you only have dogs that don't mind being groomed it's obviously going to be quicker and clients who bring there dogs in regularly. Enjoy your grooming❤

Do not feel bad!!!! My apprentice is doing the same on her 2nd year. Dog grooing is a job that can only be perfected and speed up wit experience and with 2 years you atere a baby just starting to walk...you are at the most difficult part of the process..still ascending the mountain about middway to the top. I've been grooming for about 10 years and I do max 8 dogs...and somethime I feel my shop is a sussage machine because I have no time to really enjoy my grooming. There's no way in this world you can do more than that in 8hrs if it really real grooming and not just a bath/brush and lil trim...or all dogs run with a #7,or #4 all over...real grooming takes time even if you are really skilled at this. DO NOT COMPARE your self with other more experienced groomeres...It wont help you. at your level you should compare with others at about the same level and also what quality of job they are expected to produce ..There are some shops that only do one lenght all over and others that do mostly scissoring- Totally different!
