This is so crazy for me, where i live tattoo artists charge around 27 dollars per hour. I went to get tattoed last month with a dude that had like 10 year experience, he charged me 80 dollars for a 4 hour piece. I now understand why so many of them travel to the USA to tattoo during summer 🥺
my shop chargest130-180 depending on what artists you have, im sure a large portion of that goes to the shop itself not the artist. but 20 bucks an hour for a tattoo is crazy lol!
I’m not a tattoo artist but I grew up around heavily tattooed people in my dad’s unit so I learn to respect the profession, especially being a personal trainer I get similar questions and comments about my rates. I always tip especially because my artist takes the time to change the design so that it will last or look right on my skin and explains it to me. At the end of the day it’s a profession like any other you need to be willing to pay for quality work.
as long as you dont judge people who are willing to work out by themselves and dont feel like the ONLY acceptable way to work out is to pay for a trainer, no questions asked, no exceptions. i respect both professions and the reasoning behind it but thats basically the model of thinking compared.
About $3000 not including tips for 11 tats and counting. The most being a thigh piece that was $900 over 3 sessions without tip. I do tip and appropriately because they are providing a service. An intimate one that creates an experience. It’s really all priceless.
Agreed. Being a tattoo artist takes up way more of your time than people realize, and you have to create your own style and have great technical skill if you want to make yourself stand out in the industry.

Mostly depends where you go and quality of artist and notoriety, I've been tattooed at a range of $200-$500 an hour all high quality, you can def find cheaper though

Total spent is around $3,500. Value now is probably close to double that because my artist has jumped in popularity and his rates and time has increased in value. Luckily I got in early and I'm grandfathered in to his original rate of $100 an hour
I have 25 tattoos, my small ones are £50 each at the shop, then my cousin has done a few larger ones, so I get family rates on those. My most expensive tattoos are obviously the bigger ones, one was £500, the other £650, so I'd say £2500-£3000. And I'm not stopping anytime soon!

especially when theyre the ones who want to judge poor people for having tattoos not as good quality as them or the ones that shame people for tattooing themselves at home or getting them from friends. when a bunch of them get a lot of their GREAT quality tattoos for free or an extreme discount, at peoples homes, from themselves or friends, etc. i understand the health safety dangers and reasons to not approve of that, but beyond that its mostly about judging people for not being able to afford good work and not wanting to die naked, and making fun of them for not having the privileges theyve had. especially when the judgemental ones talk about how much being tattooed means to them and how they would go crazy if they couldnt get more. tattoo artists deserve to be compensated well but it has become a luxury for the rich and connected when for thousands of years it was not that way. ik some people will say im generalizing them all even though i didnt but im not talking about all tattoo artists theres a lot i respect, just got more respect for the ones who paid for theirs so if thats how they feel they atleast practice what they preach, but there is definitely a couple people in this video that in other videos have been judgemental of other peoples tattoos/judgemental of not saving all your money and paying for high quality yet they got tons of amazing tattoos without having to worry about it impacting the ability to do things like pay for the gd roof over your head, food, your kids, etc. and respect for those who have got home done tattoos and/or dont judge other people for having them. cant remember her name wish i could but one time saw a lady on here in one video talking about her home done tattoos she got as a teenager and laughing about it but in another video was ripping a new asshole into people who dont go to shops. i have so much respect for so many tattoo artists but there is too big of a chunk of them who are hyprocritical and judgemental af.

I have the bulk of my forearm now covered by 3 pieces that cost me 370 including tip, I'm going back soon to get work done on the underside of my forearm and flesh out the background for my forearm sleeve and probably need to set another appointment for that, I expect at the end of it all, probably have over 1k in ink done.
I think a lot of these artist who got them for free got them when they were young and they were probably traded or from inexperienced tattoo artists. I think they still have to pay for good work eventually.

I get my tattoos by trading with my tattoo guy. I get tattoos, he gets hand made leather goods. I was a regular paying client for many years before we started the trade.
First, cost ≠ worth. Second, tattoos are not, generally speakable, exchangeable commodities. No matter what we pay for them, they only truly have personal worth.
I''m just under 4k for 12 tattoos, plus 1800 for a full laser removal =[ don't do full removal kiddos, just get it faded enough to to cover it with an artist you trust, unless it's an area where full removal is necessary.

Straight edge refers to being drug and alcohol free. So, he was like yeah I was only 15 at the time so of course I was straight edge.
