Interesting Jeff.
Two things I've found in putting FO in 6 bikes and a scooter.
1. Always have the stem above 3 or 9 o'clock. FO can “spurt” out when lower and clog the valve. When I check air pressure before a ride after installing FO, I also do the same. Reason is, I noticed when checking air, FO will spurt a little. Doesn't take much to mess up the valve stem.
2. I just lift the wheel I'm putting off the ground, have never had an issue with the bead. I happen to have a bike repair stand, so easy for me. Likewise, I can see your method working as well.
Just thought I'd pass my experience along too, as I've heard on the different forums people gripping about valves getting clogged.
Ribs, healing up pretty good from scooter spill, cough/squeeze pain is down from an 8-9 to about a 2-3 now.
