Madan Mohanji, in my opinion, was by far the MOST EXPRESSIVE/EMOTIVE of all the composers. At least I have not been stirred so intensely by any other composer. His music penetrates the heart ...straight! There are quite a few of his compositions that almost drove me to tears ...even as a teenager. The first to do so was the film Haqeeqat in which the passion as well as the pathos of "kar chale hum fida" ; "khelo na mere dil se" and "main yeh soch kar" completely overwhelmed me. Then I became an ardent "devotee" of his music. Songs like "agar mujhse mohabbat hai", "aaj socha toh aansoon bhar aaye", "aap ke pehloo mein aakar", "aapki nazron ne samjha", "ye duniya ye mehfil", "chiraag dil ka jalao", "meri aawaaz suno"; "rasm-e-ulfat"; and many more, never fail to moisten my eyes...EVEN TODAY!
Madan Mohan added subtle touch of madhuvanti in few of his shivranjani compositions.
