The T1 Tomahawk Digital Tape Measure is a revolution in job site measuring making fast, accurate, and forget-free measurements. A live view, OLED display, shows measurements of the tape measure blade digitally, in both english and metric units. With a click of a button, measurements are saved to a side mounted, high visibility, e-paper display. Precision front and rear reference surfaces, paired with a green laser line projection, work together to accurately capture measurements. Taking both incremental measurements and, the traditionally difficult, internal measurements as simple as clicking a button. Bluetooth connectivity allows measurements to be synced with your phone and the REEKON ROCK app for making distinct job sites and cut lists.
Completely redesigned ergonomics, conducive for maximal grip strength, and tactically located displays and interaction points lend the T1 to being one of the most comfortable tape measures ever made. A stainless steel belt clip makes the T1 easy to fasten to your belt or tool bag with ease. A robust thermoplastic blade coating and high contrast markings makes the T1 blade unparalleled. The blade is fully replaceable and can be swapped out and changed to use one of many designs and patterns. The T1 body is housed in a glass reinforced nylon housing surrounded by impact absorbing rubber and is made to survive job site conditions.
With absolute measurement correction, and secondary encoding features, the proprietary TOMAHAWK Measurement Engine is extremely robust against errors, tape measure wear, and holds accuracies beyond 500 microns (0.02").

I'm not the type of person to put a lot of trust in high tech but I do admit that this tool looks very impressive.

a real craftsman uses Meter or Roulette, not that crap, as if the person doesn't see how much the roulette indicates and it shows digital crap

Don’t feel bad that you had to actually learn the concept of fractions. Just watch. Today’s helpers don’t understand what ,”them little black lines are on a tape measure.” Tomorrow’s helpers won’t understand why you can’t just call out whole numbers, and make it work.

My husband's an IT technician and constantly needs to measure things like conduit.... I think he would love this!
I'm a sparky, I don't think it'd be of much use for the weight, I think this is much more suitable for carpenters etc.
Also IT techs rarely conduit here in Australia, unless he's what we call a Telecommunications Technician/Data Cablers etc.
I used to do that for work and it would be cool but I don't think it's necessary at all.

As a carpenter I would like to chuck this off a third story roof onto concrete and stress test it. Also looks like complete overkill and most likely have issues I'll stick to a normal tape for now way cheaper to replace by the time winter consumes yet another tape

I’m skeptical! I need to see some stress testing. Any construction field involving cutting has fine particulate dust. I imagine there are many intricate parts that can gum up. Will it survive a 4ft drop? Moisture? Heat/cold vs led screen? This might work for a climates controlled dust free wood shop/metal shop. I destroy 4 or 5 heavy duty(simple) tape measures a year like most trades people. I’m sorry but I don’t see the appeal, just the problems

When taking a measurement, I'm always doing addional addition and subtraction of fractions for the actual cut I will be performing. Would be nice to have a preset button to add or subtract for each measurement I make. Also, it would be nice to implement the lengths of the lumber you are using come in. Example 12' 16' 20' then make all the measurements around the house divide it into the lengths provided and "boom" a perfect order list of lumber to your phone. I could go all day.

What's the difference between reading a digital screen and just reading the tape measure? It's not that hard to measure something with a tape measure.

I swear I was thinking this is how I’d make a tape measure and it would be perfect but I thought it about 6 months ago. For this product to be out they had to think of it a couple years ago. Cudos I can’t wait to purchase if not too expensive.
The problem with this tool is "Pre-order in March" and then somewhere in the comments is "delivery later this year". This means they lack the capital to get it going, and I think this pre-order "go fund me" nonsense is a model that doesn't work in a pandemic world, you may never get it. While I've pissed away $ 200 before, I'm getting tired of pre-paying for things and then never getting them

judging by the video, this is a tool for carpenters and builders. What is a metalworker to do? Can we use this for accurate measurements of workpieces?
I measure glass all day at work, sometimes up too 300 measurements or more per shift. I really wonder if this device could take on that much consistent use or if it's more for the everyday carpenter.
It looks tough, I don't think they going to spend so much money and planning to create something for amateurs

Looking at the video it’s probably projecting from that overhanging lip on the front but I don’t know for sure

This looks like it solves many of my normal pain-points when using a tape measure and it looks like you've incorporated some improvements learnt from your M1 Caliber.
Does the tape measure read incrementally and need periodically zeroing between measurements, or does it read an absolute distance like absolute calipers do?
How does it perform with moisture or dust and dirt? Is it possible to clean it out?
Will it be able to calculate the expected hypotenuse of a frame and guide the user to squaring it?
Edit: Just noticed that you've already provided an answer to the absolute / incremental question in the video description. The dirt / moisture question still stands though.
hey Andrew, the tape has absolute correction and is a closed loop system (unlike the M1 which relies on the contact between the wheel and wood). There are wipers at the mouth but the case can be taken off it too much accumulates inside (the spring and tape are attached to one side so it can be opened)

It is overkill. A simple tool makes so 'high tech'.
This is perfect for my dad and for miter saws. He has a hard time mostly trying to measure everything right right when he is ready to use the miter saw
So I understand the laser measure devices. But why over complicate a tape measure? It's a cool idea, but thinking about all the things that can fail on this during the day, and then thinking about the price it would cost to replace it after it breaks.
What kind of warrantees does this have? How long is the battery life? How rugged is it? Is it water proof?
Also want to mention size, if this is a replacement for the standard measure is there going to be a normal sized version of this?
Working in the trades most my life. I just cant see a benefit. Its solving a problem that never existed. It's really bulky. And a normal tape measure is fast and effective already. Takes like 2 seconds to measure and mark. Dont need a 200 dollar tape measure that wont really benefit me over a standard one.

My main concern is if I drop it... How will it survive? On the job site things get In the dirt, thrown, dropped, stepped on. I want to see a durability test before I make a purchase.

Is the metal tape portion replaceable? Won't take long for it to get bent or damaged, then the whole unit is worthless.....

Hows this thing going to measure corners that you need to press or bend the tape into .Doesn't the old fashioned measuring tape indicate what the results are.Why do I need a second digital display to throw me off.Storing measurments is handy but Couldnt it just wifi to a phone or pad instead of a one of a kind unit that needs to replaced if the tape cracks or breaks.

Tapes are one of the most abused tools in the trade. I can't see this lasting in a real world construction environment.

The steel tape usually breaks after a while. I don't see in the video where the tape is changeable. I would hate to throw away such an expensive tool because I cannot change a broken tape.

Can’t wait to get my hands on this bad boy. Definitely will help on the job. The real question is how Accurate is the device I had a device similar to this 1 in the past it was always off by 1/16 or 1/8 +/-. How often should this device be calibrated.
We developed the encoding technology from scratch and is accurate beyond 1/32" and is self calibrating every time you move the tape measure!

I have doubts it would last long at all. Enough going on that any impact could start to mess with any feature. Don't see it lasting long in a metal shop especially.
This thing looks amazing and I want one now. However, does this use the same mechanism as the M1? I'm a bit concerned because I have not managed to have my M1 work consistently. It keeps failing, despite the fixes Reekon has suggested.
