You nailed it there buddy. I believe it contributed to the decline of the guitar. People think you have to play in 16ths and 32nds to be considered any 'good', so they don't bother.
love the playing. love the sound. Mine should be coming tomorrow along with Fender Champ x 2 combo...(full of glass light bulbs)...feel like a kid all over again.
I purchased one of these not long after they came out. I don't recall exactly when. It's a very versatile guitar. that's why I bought it. So when I went to club I didn't have to take my babies. It can pretty much cover about any sound you are trying to replicate in a cover band.
The Nashville tele has ALWAYS been my guitar of choice!! I got my dream guitar 2 years ago, the butterscotch blonde 52 tele reissue. I had a fat 50's strat pickup installed in the middle for those quacky strat Steve Wariner tones, and it is honestly the best guitar I've ever played!
Nice review - nice soulful playing, which answered one doubt I had about this guitar. It still has that twang but it can be a very nice smooth twang. When I play Tele's in a store I keep going back to this one.
Beautiful playing. I'm thinking of getting a MIM Nashville Deluxe, mainly because I want a rosewood fretboard & it's the only model in my price range, & I like the idea of having that middle pickup to get some Strat sounds out of it. But in my research, the impression I get is that some people are unsatisfied with the Texmex pickups, saying things like they're too weak, too bright, not enough output, etc. But, you make that guitar sound great. Can you comment on the pros & cons of this guitar?
I have a 'Nashville' in this colour, except mine is with the maple fingerboard. I decided to change the pickups for 3 Dimarzios. Area T (Neck) Area 58 (Middle) Area Hot T (Bridge). These pups are much punchier & in overdrive give a tone closer to humbuckers. I also changed the bridge plate to a vintage with 3 brass Callaham compensated saddles. I prefer the look and ease of setup with a vintage bridge and the compensated saddles sort out any intonation issues associated with only having 3 saddles. Finally, I had it wired with a pull-up tone pot which allows you to be able to select that classic Telecaster tone of neck & bridge pickups, sadly something not possible on a standard 'Nashville'. These are good guitars in their own right, but for anyone thinking of buying one, the above upgrades will give you a Telecaster of a much higher standard and flexibility.
+Phill Atkins lol.. why not just buy another guitar that has your preferences ,, instead of the time, effort and cost of modifying something that wasn' t good enough in the first place :)
Ha! I spent months looking at so many different Telecasters. The Nashville came up in the January sales and as I got it for a song cost wasn't really an issue. The guitar is also personalised to me and does everything I want a Tele to do. I love playing it and it has also proved a big hit with other guitarists who've had a go on it. Not always, but in some instances, modifying is the just the best route to go to get what one really wants :)
Thanks again Greg, great playing and yep thats what they sound like, I have one of about the same era and I love it, and if its a little weak I can always use just a bit of overdrive (Mooer Green Mile) Oh, and its got to be a rosewood fretboard for me.Just feels better,
I've had three all brilliant guitars. In fact had some vintage 60's 70's and The MIM teles specifically the Nashville is amazing I suggest running 52 10's though
cool...I just picked up a 1984 Squier Bullet (one of the first ones...made in Japan all stock minus nut, and a all or nothing mod (let you have all 3 pickups and neck and bridge)
Greg and I both know...it's the Teddy Bear holding the mike that makes all the difference lol. Good stuff, keep playing, and I really like your choices for backing tracks...are they home made?
Guitarmage 007 these are Tex mex tele pickups with a Tex mex strat pickup in the middle. WAY nicer than the ceramic standard tele pickups in MIM standard teles.
Blake Wright I ended up buying one. The pickups sound sweet. Can get that nice glassy sound. I ended up returning it because it had fret buzz and needed nut work. Guitar Center didn't want to fix it under warranty so back it went.
2016- They have the vintage noiseless pickups now and carry a $799 price tag in the US. Other differences are the standard tele saddles as opposed to the barrel-type that are on this guitar. 12”-radius fingerboard; contoured neck heel; locking tuning machines
It has 3 pickups, with a Strat pickup in the middle, along with a 5 position selector like a Strat, also a flatter radius ( 12 inch instead of 9.5 inch ) so you can get bends above the 12th fret like a Les Paul.
You'll need to change all 3 pickups, the bridge and the tuners. Pickguard will have to be changed to accommodate the middle pickup ( which is from Strat ). Neck and bridge pups are vintage noiseless. The neck is different too, 12 in radius instead of 9.5 in. It may be cheaper to just trade yours in.
These guitars are nice but you can't get the traditional tele sound in the middle position. It has to be wired to a 4 way switch so you can get to just the bridge and neck pickup. The middle position on a tele is one of the most redeeming aspects of a tele, especially for rhythm. Coming out of the factory with a 3 way switch is not going to get you a telecaster.
This guy can make any guitar sound great!!! I have a Nashville Tele and play it through a old national deluxe with tremolo and take a spacey trip
Sounds like a lot of fun !!
This is a nice change of pace from the all the "typewriter" or "machine gun" guitar playing that's out there. Lyricism never hurts.
You nailed it there buddy. I believe it contributed to the decline of the guitar. People think you have to play in 16ths and 32nds to be considered any 'good', so they don't bother.
I was reading this at night and I almost woke the house with laughter when I saw the 'typewriter' part😂😂😂😂😂
I think I’m a machine gun guitarist. I play ultra tight metal riffage
absolutely beautiful playing
I love this music and always watch your play on Tele, beautiful.
love the playing. love the sound. Mine should be coming tomorrow along with Fender Champ x 2 combo...(full of glass light bulbs)...feel like a kid all over again.

Good bite and snarl with some sparkly bits in there. Great versatile Tele sound.
Um show de sonoridade. Timbres perfeitos...maravilha!
Nice review - nice soulful playing, which answered one doubt I had about this guitar. It still has that twang but it can be a very nice smooth twang. When I play Tele's in a store I keep going back to this one.
Just picked up an almost identical twin to this baby the other day. Mine has a maple fretboard. That's the only difference. Loving every bit of it.
My guitar is exactly like that one. I love it, a chunkier tele/strat
Stellar playing.
Thanks for posting this Greg...I have one of these !! and it's is a great guitar to play.....
The man has soul. So different from rock and roll telecaster, but just as valid.
Great review Greg!! thanks to your review i buy a Nashville Tele!! =) Greetings from Mexico!

Sounds beautiful. Is that backing track available anywhere? Thank you.

Nice playing! What are the specs of this guitar's neck? Is it a 9,5" radius, C profile, with medium jumbo frets? If not, what is it then?
i wish greg would tell us the name of the backing track
Do you use Fender Vibroverb's Reverb a little, with Spacetime Delay?? That clean tone dazed me...
awesome
Channelling a little Beck, ay?
Edit: I just got mine yesterday, 1-27-23. A 2013 in absolute MINT condition and is the identical twin to this one here!
Playing humbuckers my whole life I sure do appreciate single coils lately..
Soooooooo nice!
I've had three all brilliant guitars. In fact had some vintage 60's 70's and The MIM teles specifically the Nashville is amazing I suggest running 52 10's though
cool...I just picked up a 1984 Squier Bullet (one of the first ones...made in Japan all stock minus nut, and a all or nothing mod (let you have all 3 pickups and neck and bridge)
i had a few bullets from Japan the first year actually very good playable guitars People laughed until they picked them up
THANKS!
Sounds fantastic! Did you change the neck on the guitar to a rosewood neck?
Alexander they came that way from the factory. Mine has one. Just upgraded the tuners.
Gross talent.
This guitar or fender telecaster player series?
I bought one and replaced the pickups by Kinman AV48 and a tubular belle strat pickup. Believe me, you will get a much nicer sound out of this guitar.
Greg and I both know...it's the Teddy Bear holding the mike that makes all the difference lol. Good stuff, keep playing, and I really like your choices for backing tracks...are they home made?
What is the name of the song? Is beatiful!
Pretty sure he is improvising but it sounds inspired by riviera paradise by srv
Awesome guitar, but where did you get that mic stand!? :)
Greg, in first place you're a great guitarrist, and I'd like know where can'I get this playback?
The cameraman is a bit drunk
What happen whit the camera
Digging the teddy bear chilling by the Fender Vibroverb...
Turns out this is just an elaborate watch commercial.
what is the normal price for a guitar like that?
COn el Nombre del tema que Tocas
Greg how do you like the MIM Nashville Tele? How are the pickups as compared to a regular MIM Telecaster?
Guitarmage 007 these are Tex mex tele pickups with a Tex mex strat pickup in the middle. WAY nicer than the ceramic standard tele pickups in MIM standard teles.
Blake Wright I ended up buying one. The pickups sound sweet. Can get that nice glassy sound. I ended up returning it because it had fret buzz and needed nut work. Guitar Center didn't want to fix it under warranty so back it went.
What year did fender start putting noiseless pickups in this guitar ?
2016- They have the vintage noiseless pickups now and carry a $799 price tag in the US. Other differences are the standard tele saddles as opposed to the barrel-type that are on this guitar. 12”-radius fingerboard; contoured neck heel; locking tuning machines
What are better? These pickups (tex-mex) or the noiseless pickups.
How do you compare the nashville to other teles?
Better. Can produce all of the same sounds as a standard tele, and more.
It has 3 pickups, with a Strat pickup in the middle, along with a 5 position selector like a Strat, also a flatter radius ( 12 inch instead of 9.5 inch ) so you can get bends above the 12th fret like a Les Paul.
Someone show me how I can convert my tele into a classic 72
You'll need to change all 3 pickups, the bridge and the tuners. Pickguard will have to be changed to accommodate the middle pickup ( which is from Strat ). Neck and bridge pups are vintage noiseless. The neck is different too, 12 in radius instead of 9.5 in. It may be cheaper to just trade yours in.
Dude! Teddy bear mic stand for the win!
Ok ok I’m buying one
These guitars are nice but you can't get the traditional tele sound in the middle position. It has to be wired to a 4 way switch so you can get to just the bridge and neck pickup. The middle position on a tele is one of the most redeeming aspects of a tele, especially for rhythm. Coming out of the factory with a 3 way switch is not going to get you a telecaster.
+Tim Mcdonald Theses guitars have a five way switch :)
Does that give you the same 5 options that a Strat 5 way switch does? If so you won't get that lovely bridge+neck Telecaster tone. @@LPNNZEN
This guitar is SEXY !
Subtle
lol, never seen Eric Johnson playin telecaster
SHOULD HAVE LEFT IT LIKE IT WAS WITH TEX MEX PUPS NOT NOISELESS , GONE IS THE TWANG !!
beautiful playing. weak sounding bridge though and guitar has weak sustain.
there are no telecasters with weak sustain and weak sounding bridges. this one isn't an exception.
muchas guitarras y poco talento
aun asi tiene mas talento que tu y yo juntos
