This is my musical reaction, breakdown, and commentary analysis of the song. I intend no copyright infringement and this is not a replacement for listening to the song or watching the video.

I am no one to tell anyone what they should hear or not.
I only know that I am 40 years old and all my life I have been a hardcore fan of Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Dragon Force, Helloween, Dream Theather, Blind Guardian, System of a Dawn, Muse, Queen, Slipknot... and many more. And since I discovered BabyMetal, I have the feeling that I have lost 10 years of my life musically speaking by not having listened to them when they appeared on the scene.
Now I only listen to BabyMetal and my mood is infinitely better than before, it's therapeutic music.
I dont listen to BABYMETAL exclusively but they are my favorite Band. I dont know what its specific that drags me into them but its strong :)
And yes its therapeutic^^.

Good reaction and thank you for listening to the recommendations. 'Megitsune' is a big fan favourite and it is the song they have played live more times than any other. It is also arguably the song that showcases better than most what BABYMETAL are about and one that truly reflects their Japanese culture the best starting with traditional instruments in the intro and the lyrics about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - which also explains fox mask Su had in the break) which, in Japanese mythology, are able to shape shift and take human form (usually of a beautiful woman) in order to deceive.
It is also a bit of a push back against the traditional subservient female role in Japanese society, saying that is changing I think - or maybe it is - whilst also praising and celebrating the women who have played that role over the years for their strength.
They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings ("crying at heart, smiling at face") are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody - so they are not deceptive kitsune (foxes), they are pure hearted megitsune (female foxes or vixens) - and they are strong.
The melody used in the intro and in the breakdown in the middle of the song is from the very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms).
When Su spoke a few words she did a high kick and she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). The last part of this is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss.
This was one of their early songs (it pre-dates 'Gimme Chocolate' by a few months). How about another even earlier song and what is often considered their break through performance in the west.
'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' live at Sonisphere 2014 in the UK. Aged 16 and only just 15, their first time in the UK, their first major event outside of Japan and first metal festival - they were originally meant to play a small side stage or tent but there was some noise on line about them and they were moved to the main stage with just a couple of months notice.
They spoke no English at the time, they were virtually unknown and they found themselves faced with over 50k potentially hostile UK metalheads to try to impress. They had about 25 minutes, just 5 songs to do it.
IDZ (it is an anti-bullying anthem) was the last song of the set - you will hear what the crowd thought of them at the end as they walk off the stage.

"Megitsune" is one of their most loved songs and their most played live one: 382 times... and counting!
It was released in June 2013 being one of their biggest hits. And yes, it's one of my very TOP favorite songs.
The style sub-genre is electronicore, a mix between electronica and metalcore with a hardcore style breakdown.
It was composed by Norikazu Nakayama (aka Norimetal). He's involved in some form in almost all my favorite BABYMETAL songs. And that can't be a coincidence.
It took 36 demos to Takehiro Mamiya best known as Yuyoyuppe (or Yuppemetal), the song's arranger, until Kobametal (their producer) was 100% happy with the final result. It may sound crazy but this is why "Megitsune" is a masterpiece.

This was a wonderful reaction with insightful, interesting comments. And I pretty much agree with everything you had to say. And all these young women were raised working on their skills and in a very supportive, respectful environment. It's a shame that in America our legacy for young artists seems sadly much more about milking them for all they're worth.
15 years after they began you can see the joy and happiness Babymetal still take in performing. This concert was from the first night of a two night concert. I'd like to suggest an amazing number from the 2nd night "Clear Night". Babymetal and they're fans are known collectively as "The One". They have an absolutely spectacular performance of this song from the Clear Night concert. It is an explosion of sound and visuals. I will include the link. It's been 10 years since this song was released, and I also think it should be more popular today.
Unfortunately, metal isn't very popular in Japan either. We especially lack young fans. As you can see, while they have a strong fandom in Japan, they're not what you'd call mainstream. Generally, Japanese people only know them as "the band (or idol) that's supposedly popular overseas."
They continue to fight against both metalheads who say "this isn't metal" and people who think "metal is uncool."😢

PS That said... it's important to remember: anime doesn't represent Japan or it's people. Just like Hollywood doesn't represent what western cultures are like.

Well we have to be careful some of these locations are not so much bigger. Frankfurt is in Fact smaller thant the Sporthalle Hamburg that they used two year before (7.000 against 5.00) while in Hamburg this is an Upgrade 7.000 to 16.000.)
Well this song was essentially their first protest song. It complained against a japanese Fairy Tale, where female Foxes had the advantage to change into Human woman. And the lalecwasvthat if the times got rougher, they would leaveve thir fanilies( husband and children alone. And it was the complete oposite to their real lives. While they realized that their mothers had in fact difficult times they were not used that their moms left them. And this song goes in and ask important questions. How do women fight? While they can be afraid they normally use different tactics.If necessary they change their looks, with the help of Make ups but no one really realizes what they are doing.. suzuka was one of these candidates, she had to start working at a very young age. When she was three she was a photo model for diapers. So for her being an idol was a way to earn money. But her voice opened her different doors. To be precise when they bacame members of Sakura Gakuin, they were already lucky. But at the same time they were Sakura Gakuins biggest success, something that Sakura Gakuin saw in a different light. They wanted them to become a Super Lady. Success in foreign countries were not important for them while for Babymetal this was the reason why they viewed them as important in Japan.And to put a Fundament for a metal scene which after them many groups used to esrablish their own careers.
Love getting to watch when music lovers discover Babymetal, thank you for the great reaction and look forward to more! Definitely go with suggestions from fans as much as you would like, but it is also true that finding their live performances at random - it will still be phenomenal, don't feel constrained they are near perfect almost every time, and their less requested work is fantastic as well.

Haha nice one. Yeah, I agree, I’ve never been a fan of pop, K-pop, or J-pop. But Babymetal’s fusion of J-pop with metal is absolutely incredible.
Megitsune, in my opinion best encompasses Babymetal as a whole. Although, their styles vary greatly from song to song. This is also a fan favorite, and the song Babymetal had performed the most live, ~380 times to-date.

MEROIKKU ᴊᴀ ɴᴀɪ ᴋɪᴛsᴜɴᴇᴅᴀ 😉 This was the last performance where Momoko Okazaki was an "Avenger", a "nameless" (and the last) backup dancer filling in the spot after Yuimetal left in 2018. At the end of that night she was announced as "Momometal", becoming a full member of BABYMETAL.
"Megitsune" is THE BABYMETAL song, showing best what they are all about. It´s a staple at nearly all concerts they perform, and it´s the song they performed the most: almost 400 times (382 times is the exact number, IIRC. road-runner or rickwagner will correct me, if I´m wrong!), and counting. All crowds worldwide go wild when it is performed, I had the pleasure to be amongst such a crowd, the entire venue was bouncing (about 4k people in there). The Japanese crowds tho are the most impressive ones. No mobile phones, the entire venue jumps on time with the ladies, Wall Of Death seamlessly transforming into giant circle pits... awesome!

Nice reaction. Have fun in Japan. Yes, it's true. When Su says jump you have to jump. those are the rules. LOL audience participation is a big thing for Babymetal. They feel their songs aren't complete until the audience joins in. The melody at the start of the performance is an old Japanese folk song. I think it's called Sakura Sakura. Means cherry blossoms. Connects Babymetal to the Japanese culture. And all the member of Babymetal were in a group called Sakura Gakuin. Babymetal at this point have a deep and rich history. They really have become a legendary group from Japan and are now a world treasure. A country couldn't find a better group to represent their country and culture to the world than Babymetal. They have done a great job and continue to do so. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.
Since around 2 years ago I'm getting into japanese metal music because I needed a change. Of course I still like music from everywhere else, but japanese metal has a different spirit and different.. objective? if that make sense.
Always fun to se people enjoying to BABYMETAL and if you really drop into the foxhole, you have plenty of great experiences yet to discover. This is a journey.

It always impresses me what control Su has over their fans. She reliably uses the audience as an additional instrument, when needed. But not only that, one word or even gesture, and the crowd obeys. That's why she's the queen.

The intention of kobametal when he created this group 15 years ago, was to bring more women to the metal world, but it seems that metals heads liked it more. But it kinda work.
Only Babymetal can do a “feminist” song without being whinny/preachy and make it be the favorite or among the top favorites of the fans worldwide 😊
