I wont say his talent was wasted on Def Leppard, but I feel they should have given him more chances to solo on the albums. His melody and skill are insane. Phil just plays technical and it gets old.
They played it faster so Joe wouldn't have to hold the notes as long as in the studio recording. He doesn't have the power or endurance that he used to have. He's 56 years old, after all.
Not one of their better performances I might add. Phil Collins messed up the beginning and they sound way off in the song. Just me I guess, but I have heard better from them. Sounds like they were going way to long and hard. Joe was definitely not at his best.
Every time I see this guy play with Def Leppard it pisses me off Phil wants to lead the band Phil wasn't even a founding member listen to either Dio album his guitar work is phenomenal now he's just a puppet in a puppet show what a joke
I agree. Solo’s that Steve played in certain songs are now played by Phil. I don’t get it. They are a “2 guitar band” but they play the Phil lead player, Viv rhythm. Steve used to play lead parts on the song Hysteria and now Phil plays those parts. I’m not saying Viv should automatically get those parts but you’d think it would be the right thing to do.
I've always loved Def Leppard-recordings. Cause, that works. It really does. They have alot of great songs. Live...? Let's be honest, it sounds like a pub-band biting over more than they can chew. I think their live performances in general always have been (even at their peak) and still are quite mediocre. Unfair to compare, I KNOW, but listen to one of Queens' live performances (and I mean the real, original Queen in their prime, Freddie as front man)...then listen to Def Leppard live...and compare. Two different leagues, naturally. But still.
Maybe in the later years of def leppard like 2008 or something I might see you mean. But listen to live in Denver 1988, the full concert is on TH-cam and it’s flawless
If you think this is mediocre then you must have only ever seen the best of the best, comparing them to queen who are one of the best live bands ever is a stretch and even Freddie mercury had vocal problems at times
@@Musicandguitars2745 I did point out that comparison was unfair though. It was only to make a point. I have seen Def Leppard-concerts that were pretty OK. But in general, I do stand by my assessment that their sound and performance in studio, works. Live? Not all that. And yes, you are right. Freddie Mercury did have issues at times vocally. It was some health issue affecting, amongst others, his throat, including vocal chords. Some virus. Starts with an "A"...
2:26 best part of the song, sounds like they're recreating Photograph AND Armageddon It at the same time
Gorgeous Joe!😘 This is one of my favorite songs! Love Def Leppard forever!♥️
Campbell’s solo near the end is gorgeous

@@jezuzu2078 Vivian is bad ass but so is DL.
@@sampitts7044 No argument here, Steve Clark is my favorite guitarist, I just feel like the band never recovered after he was gone.
@@jezuzu2078 I feel the same only one Steve RIP and a great loss.

Phils intro was ok then rick was 2 seconds late so he went hyper speed then at the end idk what the hell happened 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Tempos vary from show to show. It's only rock and roll. Hehehe.
Yeah like animal at the same show haha, Rick must’ve been loving it

He was sick on that tour. I saw them a couple nights later.

Awesomeeeee!
But all The songs They played too fast .
This one was played at the original tempo I sounds like
@@Simmo_Cars NO. This version was MUCH faster than the studio recording.

It is Phil Cullen.
i don't hear a mistake. had more of a palm mute to it though
Jenny Gail she is rite I saw that concert tour in 1999 in TX it was a bit fast.
Jenny Gail it’s palm muted riff on the top strings...
