As the co-producer/host of the Jazz Set series, let me add that. The shows were taped at the New Jersey Public Television studios, Trenton, NJ. PBS licensed 13 of them (including the Mingus show from which this clip stems) for its network. The date of taping was May 9, 1972 and the original air date was August 31. There were also numerous rebroadcasts. This was not Bobby Jones' group, but rather The Charles Mingus Sextet with Lonnie Hillyer, trumpet; Bobby on tenor sax; Charles McPherson, alto sax; John Foster, piano; and Roy Brooks, drums. We took extra care with the audio, treating it as we would a record session, because I was bothered by TV’s traditional neglect of audio. Thus, we recorded an audio test before doing the actual show. There were no edits in any of the shows.
Thanks for the background info, Chris, and for the care you took with the audio. Do you know where I might obtain a copy of the entire episode? And yes, it’s Jones playing in Mingus’ band, not the other way around. I wasn’t ignorant of that fact or attempting to deceive when I posted this, I’m just highlighting Jones here (and on all the other uploads of him on this channel) to give him some visibility. Mingus already has plenty of visibility.
Hi Chris, thanks for taking care of the audio! Apart from this short snippet, I've only seen the Bill Evans episode, which is great. Is it you who conducts the interview with Bill? I'm of course curious for any other episodes that were recorded (and possibly broadcast). Do you have any further info on the dates and artists that performed? Thanks very much for the quality TV!

All except Lonnie Hillyer. I believe Eddie Preston was the trumpeter for the Paris sessions.
