"I thought you were going to say that, Thelonious" almost killed me. Great stories from when Giants roamed the earth. Thanks for this fantastic footage!
TEO DESERVES ALL THE ACCOLADES ONE IN A VERY INTERESTING RECORD MUSIC BUSINESS CAN OFFER. THIS GENTLEMAN AN INDUSTRY LEADER INVENTOR PRODUCER HELPED TO CREATE A GENRE OF AMERICAN MUSIC (JAZZ) FOR A GENERATION OF 9:38 DEVOTED LISTENERS. NONE OF THE AFORE MENTIONED MUSICIANS WHO WERE THE FINEST WORKING DID NOT BELIEVE HE COULD BE REPLACED.HE MODESTLY DOES NOT NAME ALL HIS MANY WORKS OR SPECIFIC GENIUS.HE KNEW EVERYONE HAD BEEN TO AND WORKED IN THE HIPPEST CLUBS . HE COULD DO A PODCAST OR TEACH ANY NUMBER CLASSES I HOPE TO HEAR MORE! THE MILES DAVIS / MONK STORIES COULD ENLIGHTEN AND ENTERTAIN FOR HOURS. Thanks for granting us a portion of your amazing life/ time. PEACE. M
This is why that music was so great. They were just being their real selves. There was no pretense about being a "jazz musician" they were just real human beings trying to capture and present the genius they had... profanity, insanity and all.
Absolutely fantastic commentaries by Mr. Teo Macero who I regard as a GENIUS in his own right; for capturing the essence of those timeless musical giants.
this is an incredible interview, what an amazing man, I just laughed and laughed, great stories, people who love jazz will immensely thrive from these interveiws
I'm laughing out loud, this stuff is really funny. Mingus got him righting music when their about to hit record. Monk is completely in a world of his own chasing Steve Allen around for money. I could listen to Teo talk all day.
Did you notice they went up every time teo turned them down; $2500 a pop. Went from $2500 to $7500 in three calls. "Book it muthafucka" LMAO. And miles wasn't on the call. That's how popular Mile's music was. Promoters don't do that for 90% of artist.
hi, do you have some more infos on the date of the interview and sources? (place, in which occasion, where, when, if it´s part of a documentary etc.. ) i would be really thankfull for it, i´m writing a research work and i ´d like to put this amazing interview in. Thank you in advance
I doubt he was having fun while all this was going on...he's having fun telling the stories tho'. It's a bitch learning a tune on the bandstand, I can only imagine what it's like to WRITE a tune moments before the show...LOL!!!
I was subbing for the drummer at Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. It was all sight reading, no rehearsal. In one number, on page 2 there was a note that said, "cut to" but there was no "to", just a red line snaking down the page, around to the next page and down around the next 2 pages. By the time I found the cut, it was over. All I could do was keep time.
The Miles-phone story is classic!
I LOVE Teo’s enthusiasm!
"I thought you were going to say that, Thelonious" almost killed me. Great stories from when Giants roamed the earth.
Thanks for this fantastic footage!
When the handler gets handled. So heartwarming to see Teo get all chuckly recalling how he swung things himself. 😸🤷🏻♂️
Listening to some of these stories,
I'm amazed that any music got made at all!

Miles' Teo is one of my favorite songs.
It's a tough one to transcribe!
Thanks for postung
That's some funny shit, man. Teo knew everybody...and I do I mean everybody. He could tell those kinda stories for hours.
TEO HAS DONE--IT AGAIN! GREAT. STORY!! NOW IF WE COULD ONLY GET THIS GREAT AMERICAN MUSIC ON BROADWAY!
Wonderful stories!! Thank you Teo!
Thanks for uploading this...I recently have been reading Ian Carr's biography of Miles, and of course Teo is in that... Good stuff
Ian Carr was amazing. And his Miles book is the best!
what a lucky man ...
thank you, mr. macero ...
So insightful thank you =)

Interesting perspective. Monk was cash on delivery! Good for him!
Important historical interview. Teo’s name is all over modern music.
Not being punched in the face by Mingus is a rarity all in itself.
Teo, comes over having a strong character.
Peace to all ! !
Love
Teo
Loved that lp you partnered w Bob Prince
Yes!!! Thank you!!!! 1Nation4Life
I figured out who he sounds like: Eugene Levy on SCTV impersonating Floyd the barber from Andy Griffith show.
Lol...Yes, I can hear Floyd the Barber...
Ha! Awesome.
The impression is so good lmao
Miles turning down $$$ most Jazz guys begging for a gig. Why Miles drove Ferraris and the others on the subway

Это легенда для джазменов а каково работать чистым кайф фом?
He was late for the second set and absent on the third? Wow!
Monk was a trip. I love his chicken dance.
It’s crazy how little those guys get payed for each session in those time
Teo nailed his voice 😂
I almost laughed at that Miles story🙄So this Teo Teo?
???
yes, this Teo Teo.
Go back to page 1 bar 5 after page 2.....OMG!!!! 😆😂😱

Imagine running into a room to stop Monk while he's playing a tune
its a shame that it's so hard to understand what he is saying....
lol
+Freedom Explorer not hard really
Just pause it ..open your mind and play it until you understand
Pedro Costa CC MAN!
What??? I understood him totally. He's one in a million. He lived that jazz life with all the great ones. Man I'm so jealous.
Oh he said working with MINGUS....I THOUGHT HE SAID SOMETHING ELSE 🫥
That poor man haha
Jazz quit junk for school, now it's safe and boring.
As terrible of a thing as that is to say (well, type)... I very much agree
I don't like him using God's name as a cuss word.
