My grandma used to live there 30 years ago, then she returns to Mexico and we ask why? She got angry and told us that never gonna talk about the things that she live in that neighborhood. One year later my grandma died.
Hi I live in Polk County Lakeland Florida. I have heard of this abandoned neighborhood. I am originally from Petersburg, Virginia. What I heard about this abandoned neighborhood was the ground water was contaminated, which caused people to get really sick. It was said that the government was responsible, and government officials came and ordered the people to leave within twenty four hours. Don't know how true the story is, but it is one that seems to make the most sense.
Cyndi Merrifield that is a different kind, regular coal that you burn and find in mines definitely is a contaminant. The coal that you filter with is made a different way.
Lincoln way was really nice in its heyday. Everyone that lived up there either passed away or went to nursing homes. It's really sad because it was one of the nicer areas with it being secluded but close to everything. There used to be about 40 homes there, all but about 10 have burned.
It's not hard to understand why some places are abandoned. Industry moves out, the population ages because young people go where there's opportunity. An elderly person takes a last trip to the hospital, leaves junk that the survivors just can't deal with and then the derelicts come in and trash what's left. Vegetation encroaches. I'm irritated when there's this claim of "evil spirits" or other supernatural hogwash. This is a sort of "circle of life" issue.
sure bax but what about the families of the old people that died surely all of them had no family ? and would be in line to inherited the house and then sell it on?
a lot of old people don't have families, ones that do are lucky if their families even care, i think this is more plausible than a beast in the night...
Go to Street View 2007 and you'll see about 40 percent of homes were still lived-in. This was never a high-rent neighborhood, so it's likely the 30 percent of homes literally crumbling would devalue those that remain. Right across the railroad tracks is a huge open-air processing facility for coal and/or coke -- that may have contributed to the demise. I can't really guess why folks left their belongings, unless there was a sheriff eviction following foreclosure. Still if I were a renter, I would have gone back after dark to get my clothing and bed etc.
invest in a respirator, you're in a pretty wet area. black mold is dangerous when the spores are inhaled, also since those houses are old you have to be worried about lead based paints and asbestos in the houses!
Being that this was in a steel, coal, gas and other industry related town, it is believed that the area was plagued with gas leaks and sink holes. My guess is they were told to leave immediately. Probably compensated by the companies who caused the environmental harm. Most were elderly and couldn't take their things even if allowed. :(
Thank you Dylan for the good explore! I like your style and the fact that you don't use any foul language. I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to more from you young man.
Maryland has quite a few places, Glendale hospital is my favorite. We went a few times, but haven't been since 2008. There's also an abandoned story themed amusement park, fort Howard VA hospital, and the infamous fort Carroll island that can't be visited.
Went here a couple years ago, it's all completely gone now it burned down. The craziest place I've ever seen though, all the people's stuff was just still in the house. Cards, checks, furniture, toys, everything. That guy was crazy for going down the basement steps hahaha I was way too scared of finding squatters
Found it on Google Eart.. The "street view" pics on there say the pics were taken in 2007.. Almost all of the houses were still occupied at that time, up to where the road is blocked..(The concrete you stepped over) This is where I found it....====> Pittsburgh, Lincoln Way, Clairton, PA
This has to be the most creepiest town yet unbelievable to see how many things were left behind. I can imagine there was some sort of disaster where the people had to leave. great video thank you for sharing
This was awesome dude, really liked it and it is really crazy how its just been left, weird for sure.. Thanks for being careful and I love how you always said hello and to see if anyone was around.. :)
Hey I found a possible answer to this, Billowing Smoke and Toxic Fumes Might Be the Answer to the Abandoned NeighborhoodUSS Steel, Clairton WorksCoke piles emitting toxic fumes are situated directly across from the neighborhood awaiting workers to load the black solid carbonaceous material into railcars for delivery to the local steel mills, and located catty-corner from the Clairton steel mill on 837, the USS sign can be seen just across the Monongahela River from the entrance of the abandoned neighborhood. Many people speculate that the poor air quality back in the 60s and 70s could have led to declining health in the people and pets who lived so close to the valley's main source of income, making it a no-brainer to put this toxic neighborhood in their rear-view mirror.Running along 837, just across the street from Lincoln Way, USS Steel's brightly painted green pipe is a constant reminder that the largest coke manufacturing facility in the United States is located just up the road. The steel mill has come under fire with the Environmental Protection Agency for violations concerning deadly pollution that posed health risks to local residents. The billowing white smoke coming from the stacks is always a source of concern for the town's people who live nearby even though clean air standards have been met and satisfied the strict requirements of the EPA. guides.wikinut.com/Pennsylvania-Ghost-Towns%3B-The-Mystery-of-Clairton-s-Abandoned-Lincoln-Way/2444sq6_/
This was super creepy- it would make sense that a fast moving fire could make everyone bolt like that, that's one possibility. This place looks like about 20 minutes south of McKees Rocks where I had a house but sold it. Pittsburgh is a fascinating place, 2012 is the first year where people leaving equaled people staying, which is a good sign. There are jobs there, crime is not as bad as you'd expect, and the cost of living is low, when people find out it will really boom. Maybe 10 years out or so? I'm from New York City, keep on adventuring Dylan. Thanks for sharing this one.
"Hi!" from over in south-central Indiana. One of the most interesting abandoned exploration videos I've ever seen---and I've seen a lot. Fascinating to see how nature is reclaiming a residential area so that it's like being out in a forest instead of in a city. The area is going back to what it was. Not just one but many abandoned houses makes me think of the end of Stephen King's novel "Salem's Lot". Speaking of books...I rarely see books in abandoned houses or maybe just a few books. I don't know if that's good or sad: maybe someone who reads books took the books out of the house and saved them or maybe the residents just didn't read books.
Just some info from a landlords perspective: It could be the previous tenants that left all that trash there if they were alcoholics/meth heads but more likely is that the hobos have used it. They will load up carts with stuff, books, papers, mattresses anything they can find and then camp out in an abandoned house. Also people, mostly teens, will sneak into abandoned houses and throw parties. They don't care it's not theirs, they will even burn it down for fun.
My Uncle Used to go looking for abandoned farm houses on the eastern Colorado plains. He would bring back light fixtures, medicine cabinets and what not to Denver. Then he brought a spirit back with him, unknowingly, and it was hanging out in the basement, where he had put the stuff, from the house, he brought back. It made noise and you could feel the presence. Didn't cause any trouble. Might have been happy to have company. Be aware of the possibility of someone being attached to any souvenir you might carry home. The house might not be as abandoned as it looks. When you get that chill feeling like someone is there, say hi and how are you doing, then apologize for the intrusion. You can usually get a feeling of whether you pissed them off or if they are kind of lonely and lost. Encourage them to step outside, into the light, with you. Some don't know that they should go into the light and may not realize they are dead, even after 100 years. It is still yesterday, or even a few minutes ago to them. Be courteous and polite and they won't have cause to start a fight. (Unless they are pissed as a rule, but you can generally feel that right off. If that feeling doesn't lighten, it's best to stay out of their ectohair.
If you are willing to write out that story I am willing to publish on my paranormal website with or without names or links and promos of your choice...
Ok. This video was without doubt one of the creepiest explores I have watched! It doesn't help that it is midnight, and dark. Lol I called my dog to come lay on my bed! Please be careful. You seem like a nice young man!
you had me on the edge of my seat the whole time with all those writings on the wall I was waiting for some cult to come after you. Now my heart can rest phew. New subscriber here :-)
Sorry that I have multiple comments, but as I'm watching the video I think of things lol The saying "Don't open, dead inside" must've been done as recently as 2010 because that was in one of the first episodes of The Walking Dead.
Your TH-cam channel is really blowing up! Congratulations! I don't quite remember how and when I first came upon you but I guess it was below 1000, & your content has really flourished! Always looking forward to your videos. ^_^
There's got to be some residents who are willing to share why they left. It's one thing to leave for an area but to leave entire households behind and some things are neatly where they were left is just amazing and intriguing. Nice video, my only suggestion is to get a respirator and be careful of squatters.
Apparently, some of the houses had elderly tenants that died with little to no family, and no one bothered cleaning out the furniture. Some moved, other were evicted as it was deemed unsafe. People were living in some of the houses around 2007.
You should consider taking someone with you. That way, if something happens, you have someone who can help you or get help. That van is exactly like one I used to drive. Same color inside & out. Love it
They all went to McDonald's for Free Burgers. They will be back. How about going to the next few neighborhoods in the area and ask questions. Every question has an answer , you just have to play magnum PI.
Amazing! Thank you. I was born and raised in Pa. and have family in Pittsburg. Never heard of this neighborhood. Someone has to know why the people left.
Living in the southwestern U.S. desert, I'm always amazed at how fast buildings rot and fall to ruin in the southern and northeastern U.S. They last quite a bit longer in the dry climate unless the wind takes them down.
I'm from BC! Near Vancouver! I had a question for you because I have been interested in the dangers of toxic mold.. have you ever thought about the amount of toxic mold that may be in those places being harmful for you? Because there likely is such a huge amount of it in the air inside those places. These videos are cool, but personally I care more about your health!
Don't worry so much Dylan. Everyone sensationalizes toxic mold. Just because it's black doesn't mean it produces mycotoxins. Toxic is actually inaccurate. It's toxigenic meaning they can produce toxins but the mold itself is not toxic. The conditions have to be very specific to produce the mycotoxins and you would need to breath in a lot to get neurological symptoms. Mold is only a real issue if you have mold allergies .Molds can be especially risky for immunocompromised people leading to opportunistic infections. Moldy organs. :) It's mostly the asbestos that's the issue especially if you do this a lot. I wouldn't worry as much in such an open environment but it is always good to have one with you just in case.
Maia Wade I have made comments just like yours on other explorers videos! It's the mom in me I guess. An up to date tetanus shot and gloves wouldn't hurt either. Take care!
Very interesting. I would love to know why everyone left. I really wish people didn't go in an damage them more. Would have love to have seen them in their original state just after everyone had left. If there are any updates please post. Great job!
I enjoyed it. Good location. I will suggest slowing down. You are there and getting all details of the surroundings. By slowing down it will let the viewer absorb more of what you are seeing.
OMG!!! Thank you for sharing, I love to see this kind of stuff. I wish I had someone that would go with me to abandon houses. My friends are just scared to go with me .😞
Whats up Dylan, im a new subscriber and you're videos are totally inspiring and awesome. Can wait to start travelling and having adventures like you are.
I started getting scared for there a few times ! This one was really freaky, I thought someone was going to jump out, but then I started seeing how bad they were and thought no one would live in those houses there to bad off !!
Great video! I watch a lot of abandoned videos. I am always curious as to when the houses were abandoned and the residents who lived in them: their ages, where they worked, etc. Perhaps in the future you can stop to look at various papers, calendars, books, photographs left behind to find clues about the people.
I loved going through the abandoned neighborhood with you but I guess I'm a little weird cause I kept hoping you would come upon some person. Would love to see more of this kind.
lots of mold and paint dust in these places. Usually lead paint. Get a face mask and a pair of tough gloves so you stay healthy and In one piece. Good call on not going in bad spots.
paula null yes there is a whole neighborhood in Atlanta. Please upscale. They had to leave immediately without taking any belongings due to some construction material that was found to be hazardous. Checked it out, and it was creepy.
Sounds like asbestos contamination. Very serious and hard to remove. It infiltrates everything and peoples lungs. Combined with other lung diseases caused by mold, mildew, lead paint decomposing releasing the lead into the air...well it all kills eventually if not sooner. The cost to remove all the contamination is prohibitive. Another risk is methane or other gases from prior drilling in the area or when homes are built over tanks of gas or chemicals. I am surprised that there were no signs posted with the health risks and no trespassing due to contamination. Sad. Dylan check on health risks and get a good face mask to protect yourself.
Looks like a neighborhood fire, the mold and everything falling in is probably from fire trucks spraying water in them, which is probably why they left their things, they were probably all water damaged, just a thought
That was really interesting :) Could do with a bit tighter editing & exposistion, and also some wide shots so we get more of an idea of the scene - look forward to watching more
Loved the creepy background music. LOL I live in PA, a few counties down from Pittsburgh and never heard of this place! "Don't Open. Dead Inside." LOL A Walking Dead fan was through there at one point.
The state bought the properties from the owners to build an expressway but they never built it. The owners were paid out & moved. Most owners were elderly and moved to assisted living and or nursing homes. Google is a wonderful tool.
That was awesome, I love looking inside of old abandon houses too, trying to find out what happened. This did creep me out because it had the silent hill vibe to it with all the houses, all it needed was fog to role in. keep it up can't wait to see your next video. =^-^=
I thought Lincoln Way was the last road in the way for the Mid-Mon Express Way Project (43) and they offered all the residents on that road a crap ton of money to leave by a certain date and even used eminent domain on some. Some just up and left and some took the time to pack their belongings. Unfortunately funding for 43 stalled and Lincoln Way just sat as it was.
Wow! I been wanting to go there. Afraid to get jumped, beat, or whatever or if I get lucky enough to leave unscathed....with my luck I'd get arrested. I got pics driving real slow past after work. I'm so glad for u and others who got through safely and share your videos. 👍🏼
I think you did fairly well with the video, little less shake and slower when you pan across a room, might make it more easy to watch. Thanks for the time you took to make and post it.
I was there and why they left because there was a gas that blew up the houses and they also say that there was a beast that ate there pets and me and my brother we explored all the houses even the basement
by the looks of it, these houses have at some point been flooded as basements still wet, mold and I also noticed every house had lead paint, so I would say with black mold, they had to leave everything due to contamination, and could also be too much of a clean up with lead paint as well, that stuff is toxic, I was hospitalised for lead poisoning living in a house that had a Sun room which had lead paint!
There must have been some kind of threat to make so many people leave so quickly. I was thinking about a government imminent domain seizure or something like that pertaining to a health matter, but the people would have probably been allowed in to remove their personal property. Basically I have no idea why everything was left behind.
I wish people wouldn't smash abandoned places up so bad because they look way better when they are freshly abandoned
Totally agree Joseph!
What's the point of smashing it all up & setting alight to it. What point does it serve? PATHETIC!
Decay and nature also take over these places without the help of smashing.
People smash it to get the copper wire out of the walls. That sells for a lot of money.
My grandma used to live there 30 years ago, then she returns to Mexico and we ask why?
She got angry and told us that never gonna talk about the things that she live in that neighborhood.
One year later my grandma died.

DOOWHOO WHOODOO uh oh Polk county here interesting
my grandmother lived on the street until 1970 she told me it was because of coal contaminanted the under ground water
frank robinson coal filters water. It's not a contaminant.
coke piles contaminated the air quality. Thank the steel mill for chemical pollution (ground)
Cyndi Merrifield that is a different kind, regular coal that you burn and find in mines definitely is a contaminant. The coal that you filter with is made a different way.
mirzamay ...the steele mine pollution
Charcoal is what is used to filter water, not coal.
I wonder if people are using the abandoned gardens to grow weed
Lol
Yet they know how to spell.
There not my family used to live here
I would lol
YOU SHOULD BUY A METAL DETECTOR SO U CAN FIND HIDEN TRESURES
He would wade through shit for two months before he found anything worth keeping.
UR RIGHT, BUT ITS A MATTER OF LUCK AND THE ADVENTURE COULD BE GREAT
Turn off caps lock it's triggering me

I saw something on TV, don't remember where it was, but a coal vein caught fire and they can't put it out.I'm pretty sure it was in Penn.
That's Centralia, not near Pittsburgh.
No it is not Centralia you can clearly hear a train passing by and I have been to Centralia and there is no train traffic there.
nancy miller I was not talking about the video! I was answering the comment from mrt83goin
Where is this neighborhood at? I know it's in Pittsburgh, but where within Pittsburgh? It's kin od a big place....
You shouldn't be doing this stuff by yourself. Its your life, I'm just making an observation...
True plus it's more fun with a friend
Wow what a creepy place! Really makes you wonder why they all left without their stuff.
I loved your video. I really wish there were an answer as to why everyone left. Its creepy yet sad at the same time
Makes you wonder if the neighborhood was contaminated and that's why they not only left but left their possessions behind? Definitely very creepy!!

+deserthorizons Cool! Thanks for the location. I looked at it on Google Earth. That was interesting.
But why was the road blocked? Still doesn't explain why they all left...
I really enjoyed this video...glad you narrated, it helps us to understand what's going on and what happened....keep up the good videos and TC.

Who knows? maybe lightning starts the fire.

not true.
Dude you have balls of steel. I get creeped out and get a funny feeling walking in abandoned, empty structures. Be safe out there.

did a good job with the music. almost sounds like it's coming from the house itself.

I wouldn't worry as much in such an open environment but it is always good to have one with you just in case.
I've worked with mold at servicemaster I assure you it's a lot more threatening than you think. It will fuck you up. Forreal we wore full hazmat suits
Maia Wade I have made comments just like yours on other explorers videos! It's the mom in me I guess. An up to date tetanus shot and gloves wouldn't hurt either. Take care!
You are much braver than I. I could never go in those abandoned houses. Not sure why, i just know I couldn't. lol
LOL...yeah, that's it.
I couldn't go into those places either. lol
Very interesting. I would love to know why everyone left. I really wish people didn't go in an damage them more. Would have love to have seen them in their original state just after everyone had left. If there are any updates please post. Great job!
The entire street was demolished
I enjoyed it. Good location. I will suggest slowing down. You are there and getting all details of the surroundings. By slowing down it will let the viewer absorb more of what you are seeing.
such a beautiful place, amazing video!
How long has it been abandon, and did you happen to ask anyone in the surrounding neighborhoods why it might be abandon?
Really cool. Thanks for the tour!!
I started getting scared for there a few times ! This one was really freaky, I thought someone was going to jump out, but then I started seeing how bad they were and thought no one would live in those houses there to bad off !!
Great job. This was spooky!
Love how he says hello like somebody just gone be chilling down there and say "oh whats up bro" lmao
You never know...homeless people do exist🤷♂️
Great video! I watch a lot of abandoned videos. I am always curious as to when the houses were abandoned and the residents who lived in them: their ages, where they worked, etc. Perhaps in the future you can stop to look at various papers, calendars, books, photographs left behind to find clues about the people.
You earned a sub bro! :D
good vid....place looked like a jungle, but it looked like it was a cozy little neighborhood once too
In an abandoned house,I would never expect to see papers everywhere
Oh yeah,.....LOVED IT,.....and the spooky music. Very fitting!
Thank you.
That was awesome. Thanks for the voyage
Looks like a neighborhood fire, the mold and everything falling in is probably from fire trucks spraying water in them, which is probably why they left their things, they were probably all water damaged, just a thought
That was really interesting :) Could do with a bit tighter editing & exposistion, and also some wide shots so we get more of an idea of the scene - look forward to watching more
Also, would be interesting to hear some more creepy stories people have told about the place!
Loved the creepy background music. LOL I live in PA, a few counties down from Pittsburgh and never heard of this place! "Don't Open. Dead Inside." LOL A Walking Dead fan was through there at one point.
Wow that is creepy ! You're a very brave soul ! Be careful !
pretty cool,. strange place. how did you find it?
Some neighbourhoods are abandoned due to disaster...flood, oil spill, toxin spill, nuclear waste, etc.
The state bought the properties from the owners to build an expressway but they never built it. The owners were paid out & moved. Most owners were elderly and moved to assisted living and or nursing homes. Google is a wonderful tool.
Isn't 43 on the other side of the hill?
I really liked you’re video, it was cool & erieeeee like. Which was really cool, never knew what was coming next.
I liked the part where u get back to da van lmao best part. great video
my home town dude. awesome!
43 doesn't even go near there, does it?
abandoned places like this are full of stories
Wow it's crazy how they were just abandoned! They left their stuff like they left in a hurry I wonder why
Things you should have.
Leather boots with thick soles.
Thick gloves.
A heavy duty rebreather.
45 CALIBER REVOLVER
Wow! I been wanting to go there. Afraid to get jumped, beat, or whatever or if I get lucky enough to leave unscathed....with my luck I'd get arrested. I got pics driving real slow past after work. I'm so glad for u and others who got through safely and share your videos. 👍🏼
My family used to live here
How the fuck do you abandon and entire neighborhood?
a huntsman in a nonaustralia neighborhood
Robomarston There is this thing called jeepers creepers! Ever heard of it?!
Robomarston Toxic spills, bank foreclosure, government seizure, you name it.
Agenda 21
Catblob Videos smart ass
I think you did fairly well with the video, little less shake and slower when you pan across a room, might make it more easy to watch. Thanks for the time you took to make and post it.
It is so weird, people would just walk like that. Maybe a factory nearby went broke? They sure don't make big homes like this anymore!
That was well done. wonderful video
I was there and why they left because there was a gas that blew up the houses and they also say that there was a beast that ate there pets and me and my brother we explored all the houses even the basement
Before the vandalism and what is seen today, it looks like this would have been a nice neighborhood in its prime
From Ca.Thanks for sharing the video very interesting! To Scott you leave his bun alone!!
by the looks of it, these houses have at some point been flooded as basements still wet, mold and I also noticed every house had lead paint, so I would say with black mold, they had to leave everything due to contamination, and could also be too much of a clean up with lead paint as well, that stuff is toxic, I was hospitalised for lead poisoning living in a house that had a Sun room which had lead paint!
what year did people start moving out, looks long ago.
There must have been some kind of threat to make so many people leave so quickly. I was thinking about a government imminent domain seizure or something like that pertaining to a health matter, but the people would have probably been allowed in to remove their personal property. Basically I have no idea why everything was left behind.
where u from ??
