- One of the best evenings plane spotting ever. There was a surreal feel in the air and it was an evening I won't forget.
I've uploaded a couple of videos from this trip last year but I purposely left you waiting for the best videos, and now they're here. East Midlands Airport (EMA/EGNX) is a big cargo airport in the UK, with numerous cargo flights arriving every evening, and then departing in the morning. So when my Dad and I went up to East Mids on the 20th/21st July 2013, we got the evening arrivals, spotting from about 16:00 until 21:30, then got the early morning departures from about 05:00 to 06:30.

All the cargo flights arrive within a couple of hours, making filming there really exciting! During the evening hours East Midlands gets hectic, with tens of flights arriving and many wanting to depart too. We absolutely loved it, and seeing as this was filmed back in Summer 2013, we are looking to go back soon!
This video begins as I typically like to start them, with a nice intro including a view of the spotting location in which all the clips were filmed.

DHL A300-600 (Retro Livery); the last arrival we caught before heading back because the lighting was deteriorating, 21:30pm. There wasn't much special that we hadn't already filmed after this arrival anyway:)
The brilliant variety of airlines and aircraft we saw on this trip, plus the all around epic spotting location meant East Midlands is a must re-visit in our eyes.

Nice one Archie one of your best yet 😃 Cargo stuff in my opinion are always the best stuff to video. For example Prestwick has had some brilliant cargo movements this year such as the Gumball 3000 & the Av Cargo MD11. It's always nice to see old classics like the B762. East Midlands is a defo to be done next year hopefully 😃. Looking forward to part 2.

Hi, great video, I send parcels very frequent via UPS, from Manchester to Bucharest next day delivery, I've used the tracking site, and parcels go from Manchester-East Midlands Cologne-and arrives Bucharest in leas than 20hours or even less, but does anyone know does UPS Manchester parcels go on flights to East Midlands, because it generally takes around 40 minutes once it leaves UPS depot in Manchester to reach East Midlands,

Channel express the owners of The Jet2 brand has been operating cargo flights for more than twenty years far longer than they have operated summer sun flights for self loading organic freight.
They have had a contract with Royal Mail for flights radiating around East Midlands , Edinburgh and Belfast however that have now lost this and are ending regular cargo flights
They haven’t got that much cargo aircraft tho I was at Belfast airport and I saw a Jet2 cargo for the first time I swas shocked

Great video.... love EMA... Why, if the wind was 010/ 10 were they using runway 27??
+George Walker Thanks George. Hmm, not sure to be honest. If I was to guess it would be that the winds were varying and unreliable, it is possible that they were varying between 350 and 010 all evening so they might have just decided to keep in 27. But not exactly sure:) Thanks for watching.

No, well we cycled, not sure exactly where you would park a car. I am not local to EMA so I am not sure what night is best at this time of ear. All I know is that weekdays are best. Ah nice!
