    Might be expensive but look at 16 HIMARS are doing in Ukraine

      And now the same cheap rounds will have a 150km range instead of just 70km which was already far. The US needs to quadruple production of HIMARS munitions as they are in high demand.

    US's weapons are very good but also very expensive and hard to maintain.

      I mean how do you that in a simple and inexpensive way as possible, because modern warfare, are complex, and it’s going to be more complex as years goes on, also, i disagree with maintain part, because if all US weapon is hard to maintain they would be handicapped, of course, all US weapon are combat proven, reliable and easy maintain, though i atleast agree with the expensive part, some US weapon is expensive, but not all of them are expensive, look at F16, it’s cheap

    Why 6.8 though? 7.62 is still way superior.

    • @apolloaero
      @apolloaero 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      6.8 is lighter, plus its smaller cross sectional density might make it better for punching through body armor, and faster bullet makes it shoot flatter. Plus both actual bullets weigh the same, so it should carry it's energy well. Military 7.62×51mm M80A1 ammo is 130 grains and does less than 3000 fps out of a 16" barrel. Hell, it barely does over 3000 fps out of a 24" barrel

    • @cenccenc946
      @cenccenc946 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yea. this video pretty light on details.They developed a new bullet casing allowing for higher chamber pressures to punch through body armor and allow for longer distance accuracy. It is really the full systems package that is impressive. like they did not show the scope that is suppose to go with the rifle for instance.

    • @Manco65
      @Manco65 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@apolloaero Which is pathetic. As I've loaded 125gr bullets in 7.62NATO cases that easily achieved 3000fps from a 22"bbl. For the resources available to the Ordnance dept a 130gr bullet should be able to make 3000fps out of reasonable barrel lengths.

    • @apolloaero
      @apolloaero 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Manco65 if you load your own ammo, then you should know about the limitations. Which is why we also adopted not just a new cartridge, but casings as well. I believe it was 10% stainless steel, just the bottom part where the primer is. In theory, it should allow for higher pressure ammo.
      And all rifles suffer from the same dance. Too light and recoil becomes less manageable, too heavy and it becomes too cumbersome. Too fancy and it's prone to jam. I hope they continue to develop plastic ammo, it burns the propellant much more efficiently meaning less recoil.

      The M250 and M5 will push engagement envelopes further out, making it so that the average US infantry can engage before being engaged themselves. The trade-off is less volume of fire.
      And we've already seen how much trouble HIMARS has given the Ruskies. Imagine something with twice the range.
      Plus don't sleep on the jammers, they reduce effective range of SAM networks.
      And you can't say the anti-drone systems aren't game changers. Small drones have proven to be more than a nuisance.

    • @cenccenc946
      @cenccenc946 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, because the united states already crushed an entire army in days, armed with what russia is using today in Ukraine back in 1991. This is just some extra toys, worth more than the total GDP of russia, to keep voters in the congressional districts happy. 😆 🤣 😂 We dont really need them.
