The issue is that outsourcing pays waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less than freelancers, causing high numbers of interpreters outside of the us quiting their jobs, or at least, just taking interpretation as something temporary, as it was pre-covid 19
Hello Mason! Calls have been a bit low in some LSPs since Monday, but at the same time, I've seen 20 new LSP's that I didn't even know existed. For example, why is a company from Egypt trying to hire me to work for hospitals in the USA? Weird times we're living in.
Hey there! I feel like the call volume for any LSP could fluctuate time to time, so I wouldn't be too concerned about it but working for multiple LSPs would be definitely a good idea . I also noticed many new LSPs advertising on LinkedIn recently! Not entirely sure why, but it's probably good to be cautious with some of them!I'm sure not all, but I previously had a really bad experience with a company from Egypt.
Worried about the many Deaf employees in government and their interpreters. Trump has made it clear he is not a fan of people with disabilities, so they could all lose their jobs 😢
My LSP has not stopped hiring - actually, I've seen many new colleagues joining in, though not in my language pair. My immediate TL said that there even may be more work available, but the company I work for also does legal and immigration, maybe that's the reason. Let's wait and see.
Thank you for your insight! I do also feel like I have been seeing more and more of recruiting ads on LinkedIn! We will see how things unfold, but certainly many uncertainties ahead. Thanks for the comment, always greatly appreciated!
I was reading about interpretation services during the first Trump administration, he established at the time that healthcare providers were not compelled to use medical interpreters when treating "illegal immigrants". That led to cases of healthcare mismanagement due to the lack of medical interpretation. My guess is that this time he'll double down on his discrimination policies.

Fair trade and free relationship.
