I cannot remember a time when I flew out of Canada and we didn't have a delay. Air canada, westjet, Swoop... They always have an excuse. It takes longer to take a flight from Edmonton to Calgary due to the delays and check in then it does to drive the 4 hours across the province. That is embarrassing. The airlines in Canada are a joke. I wish they did better. The last time I flew out of Edmonton, 5 hour delay. The airline gave us 15 bucks for food. It basically covers the cost of one chocolate bar and a soda.... Embarrassing.
Lol I believe that. I took air Canada flight back from Korea and it was not my best decision.
A cancellation due to weather can occur where the plane is coming from as well, not just where you and and where your going. Glad y’all made it home safely!!

I flew into the USA last Sunday from Seoul, and both my flights were delayed. Looking at the Arrival/Departures board, I couldn't help but notice so many delayed and canceled flights popping up. I hope you have a wonderful time visiting. My Mom died while I was en route, and I've had to plan a funeral, bury her, and now clean out her apartment this past week. Enjoy your Mom and Dad. Life is short.

My mom got stranded in Canada for 2 days with air Canada earlier this year 😭 i felt so bad because she was so exhausted after a long trip and really just wanted to go home… im so sorry y’all’s travel was interrupted as well 😞 glad you made it back safely eventually tho ❤

Kyuho is 100% correct. One day (prolly not any time soon) you will be able to look back upon the turbulent "Trip to Canada 2023" and laugh about what you went through. Such things are not just "what happens" along the meandering journey. The memories of these great adventures ARE the very fabric of life itself. Embrace it and own it. Life is such an incredible blessing.

At least he said it gently to Sarah. My husband would’ve snapped at me like he usually does and lecture me in a condescending manner. That’s why I refuse to travel with him on flights anymore or do anything else for that matter.😅🤷♀️
I did the Seoul Vancouver Toronto Halifax flight almost every summer when I was teaching in Korea in the early to mid 2000's. I've experienced Air Canada's incompetence many times so I feel your pain. My wife's last trip home to Korea with AC was a complete nightmare; cancellations, rebooked flights with little notice, last second hotel reservations...Like you said, next time, we're using Korean Air! Enjoy the fresh air and slower pace of Nova Scotia, and thanks for the great videos of Korea!

Wow... So frustrating, but good on you guys for weathering the storm! This is bringing back nightmares of a terrible experience we had with Air Canada last summer, including crazy delays and understaffing at the Toronto airport. We were given a discount on a future flight, so we're gambling on a Philadelphia > Toronto > Incheon journey in a week... All we can do is pray 😅
Travel this summer has been a hot mess everywhere! Airlines seem understaffed and demand is so high. But that hotel breakfast buffet looked really, really good! 👍

tl;dr: We landed at Toronto Pearson from Seoul on Tuesday evening and saw that our flight from Toronto to Halifax was cancelled due to supposed 'bad weather' (skies were clear in Toronto and Halifax at the time). Air Canada automatically rebooked us for a 6:25am flight the next morning (over 9 hours later), without our consent. We wanted to a) find out if we needed to grab our luggage since the flight was cancelled and b) rebook to an afternoon flight instead so we could at least have enough time to sleep at an airport hotel after an exhausting I2+ hour flight (on OUR DIME, btw-Air Canada did not provide a hotel or meal vouchers due to the supposed ‘weather related’ cancellation). With a 6:25am flight, we wouldn't have time to go to a hotel, rush back to the airport, and go through customs...we would have to sleep on the airport floor in order to be there in time for that super early flight. There were literally NO STAFF at Pearson to help anyone. No Air Canada help desk. And the few Pearson staff that were there were rude, totally incompetent, and kept telling us to wait in different lineup after different lineup, which we did for hours. Of course when you call customer service, no one picks up. And this economy flight for two people was over $5,000 CAN…

Greeatings from NB! I hope the weather stays nice for you because in NB it’s been a rainy season. I wonder if your flight was cancelled because of the severe weather between eastern Ontario and Montreal that caused tornadoes? Regardless, glad you are home safe and saw PIpi!! I am so excited myself as my son is going to Dal in the fall and I’ll get to explore more of Halifax. If you come to Nb / Fredericton please let me know and I can show you the sights and even make you supper. (I’m a normal lady. Honest).
So sorry you had to go through this! I had a similar experience but I had a cat with me! Last month I moved home to Canada from Korea so I had to bring my cat… we had a flight from Incheon to Ottawa with a layover in Toronto. My flight to Ottawa was supposed to depart around 10pm but it was cancelled due to “crew constraints” and I was rebooked for the next morning around 8am.
It doesn’t end there… they didn’t cancel my flight until close to the departure time so I had already gone through security. Going through security with a shy cat is horrible and for some reason, they took my cat’s litter saying it exceeded the limit so once I found out about the cancellation, I was without litter after already travelling with my cat on a 13 hour flight. I was so stressed and worried for my cat… he’s an old boy and previously had urinary issues so he NEEDED that litter :(. Same as with you guys, no one showed compassion or tried to be helpful. I was SO fortunate that a friend that lives in Guelph made the trip over to the airport late at night to bring me litter and bring me to a pet friendly hotel so I could catch my morning flight.
Still doesn’t end there. I got to the airport the next morning only for THAT flight to also be cancelled due to maintenance issues. They announced there would be a new plane but there isn’t enough room for everyone since the plane is smaller… I didn’t make the cut! I had another 4 hours until the next flight I was booked on.
Luckily we made it to Ottawa (followed by a 1.5 hour drive to my hometown) and my cat is happy and healthy here.
AC probably won’t compensate you for your cancellation since it was due to weather (🙄) but you should still make an attempt and also provide your hotel receipt.
I live in Halifax and went to Montreal for the weekend a couple weeks ago (had a direct Air Canada flight booked). Our flight home got cancelled on Sunday, they ended up rebooking us on a flight that flew out of Montreal on Wednesday!! Waited forever to talk to someone, best Air Canada could do was fly us from Montreal to Ottawa, Ottawa to Toronto, Toronto to Halifax the next day. We couldn't land in Toronto due to a thunderstorm, so flew back to Ottawa, refueled, then back to Toronto, ended up missing our connecting flight to Halifax. It ended up taking us 30+ hours to get home, when the flight is normally less than 1.5 hours!!
So sad - not of the experience you guys just have had but your character as a person, in particular.

Listen, if an airlines canceled their flights it’s for a reason, like for yours and others SAFETY is foremost.
It could cancel due to first and foremost - WEATHER or AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE and/or CREW UNAVAILABILITY or CREW REST.
After the dreaded pandemic, the airline business had changed. Aviation workers were let go, most resigned. There’s a serious shortages of personnel within the industry.
If you are interested, please apply for an airline job position and render the IDEAL customer service you ENVISIONED or EXPECTED handed for yourself.
By the way, my wife and I are vacationing in Manila and Seoul this September. Being an airline employee, we have all the patience to get from point A to B.

BUT it’s the bare minimum responsibility for an airline (especially Canada’s largest airline) and airport to have a help desk or actual STAFF on the ground to assist passengers when their flights are delayed or cancelled (and MANY were). There’s absolutely no excuse for this sort of incompetence, and I stand by what I said 100 times over 🤷🏻♀️

Every traveler has had that messy cancelled flight nightmare at least once every few yrs. I like to think that it’s the Universe’s way of looking out for you from a situation more bothersome or worse, who knows. And nothing worthwhile is every easy. Glad you guys made it safe!

OMG, I'm so glad you made it! Honestly, flying these days has been so difficult. This past month on several trips, my flights back home, both domestic and international were always cancelled due to internal issues, weather, overbooking. It was so frustrating because sometimes I was rebooked, other times I was just refunded. I'd have to find my own accommodations. I really felt you guys when you said no one would help. It took me hours to get anyone on the phone! The queues at the airport were so long to even stand in. I'm resolved to ground myself till the end of the summer season. Hopefully flying conditions improve! Enjoy your days in Canada!!!! ~~

A lot can go wrong on a long trip. It's become very ordinary, but it's also kind of miraculous that we're able to travel long distances like that.
My father and sister was on a trip from HKG to New York. They don't have entertainment service. No monitors to watch film. And they are not used to loading music or movies to their phone, prior to the trip. He said that was the longest trip ever. Felt like forever.

@@drawde2000that happened to me from Melbourne to Singapore. Their entertainment system failed before the flight so we didn’t have anything. The man sitting next to me lended me a book, which was nice.

I was on a cruise from NYC last September to St. John (which I LOVED!!!!! ❤❤) but at our second stop Halifax, it was all foggy, rainy and cold so I stayed on board……. But I loved St. John and the New England style architecture!!

As a fellow Canadian who flies between Pearson and Incheon several times per year, I stopped using Air Canada in 2021 and exclusively fly Korean Air now. Air Canada’s staffing issues are getting worse and worse and with KA I’ve never had them cancel a flight on me. I’m so sorry this happened to you guys 😔 but welcome home! 🇨🇦 and enjoy your family time!

I'm so sorry yall had such a terrible time getting to Canada, but glad you finally made it! Kyuho did look like a dino there! lol A Kyuasaurus Rex! NS looks so pretty! We are actually thinking about maybe checking out the Pacific Northwest as somewhere to move. We hate it where we are and the summers have just gotten too brutal. Bummed I had to give up my day 1 badge, but that's ok. I'll just be glad to be able to help support your content again! :) Edited to add: The layover in Vancouver is a great idea! We normally just drive straight thru when we would go to Florida to visit my inlaws, it's like 16 hours bc we had kids and dogs (kids are grown now tho so might be easier lol). We ended up stopping this last time about half way and getting a room and it made the drive SO much easier, and less recovery time when we got home.

Man, that's stressful, I'm sorry you had to deal with that! Something similar happened to us one year over Christmas trying to fly from San Francisco to Baltimore - the plane was down checked and there was no replacement so..... Suddenly that whole plane full of people just had to scramble to get a flight. We ended up getting in at like 5:30 the next morning, it was exhausting. I feel your pain.
Also, as crap as it sounds, low cloud ceilings are actually quite dangerous for visibility and the ability to reach proper flying altitude. They can also make landing dangerous, so it's wise not to fly in it - in fact, I believe that if you're not an instrument rated pilot, you actually *can't* fly in it. My day job is in aviation? So I have learned some random stuff over the years, lol. Ironically, part of my job deals with predictive maintenance on commercial aircraft to prevent things such as delays and cancellations (but due to mechanical issues, not weather, lol).

Edit: I wonder actually if the wildfires up there are also affecting visibility and weather patterns, that could affect the ability to fly too. We've been getting a whole bunch of y'all's smoke down here for the last month or so 🙃 Still, doesn't make it less frustrating or exhausting.

Apparently the ‘low ceilings’ was related to heavy fog in Halifax, which thankfully dissipated pretty quickly. We didn’t notice any smoke while we were flying, but I’m sure it’s quite bad around some areas of Quebec still :/
@@2hearts1seoul Ah, yeah, fog will do it - our flight INTO San Francisco that same trip was actually delayed a few hours because of of heavy fog in SF. It affects visibility and the ability to see the runway & other traffic, in addition to some other random stuff related to humidity, dew point, and how it affects the plane's engines/ability to gain/keep altitude, etc. Flying is wild. It's good that it dissipated!
It's good that you didn't see any smoke! I hope that things calm down up there for everyone, it has really impacted the air quality this summer, and I feel terribly for the people who have had to evacuate. ☹️ I dunno if you guys saw the pics of the orange haze in NYC from mid-June or so, but if you didn't, check them out. They're crazy!

Sorry you had a rough start to your trip. There's been some issues here in Toronto with both Air Canada and West Jet and flights heading out. Holiday Inn does great breakfast. Love staying at that Hotel. Enjoy your time in Halifax.

Fantasy smut is the best if you have time to waste! I am sorry for your bad experience! I was a victim of overbooking once (British Airways) and had to spend hours at Newark and then at Heathrow. Just a couple weeks ago, similar experience. Incheon to Toronto on air Canada. They canceled our Toronto to Washington DC with no real reason, and then shuffled from line to line almost to just get rid of us. Rebooked for 24 hours later. We just rented a car and drove 7.5 hours home. Their customer service takes 1.5 hours on phone. We have multiple requests in for compensation. Going to Korea they also left a bag in Korea. Overall a mess. Air Canada is cheap for a reason, I don’t understand how they can sustain this
YUP. No customer service on the ground at the airport. No customer service via phone (you’re on hold forever, then they just disconnect the call). Such a mess and an embarrassment being Canada’s largest airline…

Too bad about the rough trip but I was sure happy to see Pipi the White. That darn cat is the best. So sweet.
Oh yeah... we once missed our connecting flight in Toronto as well because of a delay, huge lines at security and bad signage. Several airport people sent us to wrong directions... 🤪 we did wait 5 hours until late in the evening for waiting lists which did not get confirmed 😭 and had to stay overnight at a Travelodge😩, with no luggage😵💫, got vouchers for dinner but everything was closed already 🥳, got up the next day at 4 a.m. 🙄 to catch the new flight to SFO. We were pissed too😡. But... because of all of that jetlag wasn't as bad as usual 👍.

The airport shuttle buses finally resumed their regular schedules again! The last few years they only ran like twice a day~
Oh goodness... What an exhausting and stressful experience 😵 For what it's worth, I also had a hellish time trying to get to Newark airport in the US from Malaysia; instead of 2 flights, I ended up taking 3 flights and there was a whole bunch of delays (at the time, United Airlines was going through a whole fiasco due to poor weather and lack of staff) -- by the time I arrived, I'd been running on 2 hours of sleep for over 30 hours. To say I was exhausted, would be an understatement. But I'm so glad that you guys eventually got to Nova Scotia safely, along with your all your luggage, and that you saw Penelope/Pipi!! Looking forward to the rest of your Canadian summertime vlogs 😊

Bruh United Airlines is the actual worst airline I've ever flown on, I will legitimately never fly on one of their aircraft again unless I absolutely have to, lol.
Omg...sorry you had to go through that all. We had a similar issue last year with my 2 years old son, first time traveling (alone) with him.... Stayed 5 hours sitting in the plane without moving when finally they told us to go out because we can't take off now.. Had to stay in a hotel, no stroller (had to hold him the whole time), no diapers, no clothes, no food it was a nightmare!
Now just take a good rest and keep the best! ❣️
