Testing Runcam NightEagle 2pro as handheld spotter.

Camera re-mounted in 3d printed case and fitted with 50mm f 1.4 c mount lens. The dvr recording does not do justice to the clarity so I filmed screen with iPhone. There is no IR Illuminator.

Is this comparable with a gen 3 Night Vision tube ?

I had the same question. Resolution is 800tvl, approx 800x600 or 600p, or 0.48 million pixel for the rectangle. But senor is very sensitive, 0.00001 lux @1.2F (Gen 3 on overcast 0.0001 lux can see 220 yds) and good WDR. I think at least gen2 due to sensitive CCD and good WDR with lower noise. but low resolution is the drawback. PVS14 resolution is 64lp/mm and tube is 18mm in diameter, so it has1152 lp/pixel on diameter, approxi lp/pixel is 1152/2^2*pi = 1 million pixel for the circle). Runcam resolution is about half of PVS-14. But for the price, it is very good.
