I own nothing, Everything used here is fair use. I do not make money from this, I have only edited the video and nothing else
Another person who was (kinda) involved in this story is Franz's mentor Gustav Rodel. During this even Franz said he remembered his mentors words to his men when he served in Africa: "If I hear of one of you shooting a man in a parachute, I'll shoot you myself!" Franz saw how badly damaged the B17 was and he conisdered downing it to be the same as shooting a man in a parachute
Notably, that happened after Gustav found out one of his men had shot at a parachutist, and was downright _Enraged_ at the Pilot.
He had let that man off with the harsh warning afterwards, basically telling both him and the rest of his fellow pilots that he never wants to hear that come his way again.
A epic book Higher Call I loved it
Чрежжоежо Чрежжоежо п😊😂😊
Oh he is as big a part in history as franz and lt brown 😊
I love how in this animation you can see the shock and fear in the eyes of the American pilots when they saw the Stigler.
And rightly so, Franz Stigler was one of the Luftwaffe's most elite aces, and he was one of the first pilots of the ME-262 which makes him one of the world's first jet fighter pilots. This man was not a nobody.
It isn't his animation, it's somebody else's
2:40 You get goosebumps when the guitar starts out of nowhere without a sound around you
Franz pretty much said “We should just simply refuse to pull the trigger.” Not his words, but the might as well be.
"We were just following orders"
...Technically speaking, Franz _was_ following orders... From his Mentor, Gustav Rodel in the africa campaign.
Shortly before the events of "Ye Olde Pub", Gustav had found out one of the pilots had killed a parachutist, so after giving that Man a harsh dressing down and a demotion, he then told both that Pilot and the rest of the assembled pilots, Franz included, that "If I hear one of you shooting a man in a parachute, I'll shoot you myself!"
Franz, upon seeing the Ye Olde Pub in such a state, compared it to a man in a parachute, and decided "Well, that is not a target then", and after attempts to escort the Ye Olde Pub to Axis-Occupied Amsterdam were rejected by Charlie (who was admitted to be completely delarious and woozy from his prior near-death experience), Franz decided to escort the Pub back to the channel.
It is funny how such things were set into motion from completely seperate events.
@@waIdemar44 Funnily enough, that was exactly what Franz was doing... He was following the _orders_ given by his mentor, Gustav Rodel, after he found out one of the pilots in the Squadron had killed a defenseless parachutist.
Gustav gave that Pilot a _very_ harsh dressing down (Some accounts said he actually gave that Pilot an outright _beating),_ and then told both that pilot and the rest of the other pilots, Franz Stigler included, that "If I hear one of you shooting a man in a parachute, I'll shoot you myself!"
Franz that day took one look at Ye Olde Pub's state, and felt that it was too much like a defenseless man in a parachute... So yeah, technically "He _was_ following Orders"... Orders given by his Mentor.
A shame all these heros are almost gone please show respect and love this generation did it for the love of country 😊 bless Stigler and Charlie brown
this new generation would feel "offended" by your comment and would blame thoose heros just for being a part of wars, rommans was right, strong men create good times and good time create weak men that create bad times...
Franz Stigler is the true legend
If Stigler had taken off before the pub flew over the base he was stationed at, been stationed somewhere else, or not heard the b-17 those men most likely wouldn't have made it home. So if anything, the events of that day was blessing from god to that bomber crew because all it takes is a single moment or choice to decide one's fate in war.
@@reapergamingcentral4238 It was truly an act of fate, perhaps naturally, or by some other force. Doesn’t truly matter.
@@TeenWithACarrotIDK Adding to that, not long before the events of the Pub, Franz was basically told by his Mentor, Gustav Rodel, that "If I hear one of you shooting a man in a parachute, I'll shoot you myself!"
Franz also lost his brother to a night fighter shortly before his encounter with Ye Olde Pub.
It really does seem like an act of Fate.

I made it my mission to
Every December 20th I sing this at karaoke
On dec 23rd right at midnight for the 24th Christmas Day I karaoke the Christmas truce
But every dec 20th I sing this and usually after there are people that ask about it
Then I get to retell the amazing story of Charlie Brown and his crew bein saved by franz a true German ace rip franz, Charlie, and company your story will never be forgotten or go untold as long as I and people like me live on
Amazing how they made an actual historic event happen based off a sabaton song.
I love Sabaton I love how they take historical events and make them into songs that tells the story. Truly amazing band
Second
Places of great note & feats of not just groups but particularly individual actions have been given new life in story & song throughout history. Sabaton are themselves another in a long line of bards & retellers of those people & places that should be remembered.
Best CGI Version of this Song.👍
Stigler said that if he had shot them down in the state that both the aircraft and the crew were in, there would be no honor and for him it would be considered more an act of cowardice
He was a good man.
It’s odd to think how another fighter pilot might have reacted. True, he perhaps would have pity, but when they wouldn’t land, someone else might have thought they won’t let the bomber crew return to base to be part of a future raid.
@@illerac84 Stigler got a lot of hate for exactly that reason from SOME Germans, when the truth came out. He was the squadron mate of ace Adolf Galland late in the war; when Stigler confessed about this incident years later; Galland simply said, "It would have been you." He considered it a derelection of duty, and yet the right thing to do.
Franz Stigler was a true man of the world RIP sir
@@alexwyman7048 many Germans in both the Kriegsmarine and the Luftwaffe still had the same honor and humanity as Stigler intact, given that Admiral Heye recommended the Victoria Cross to LT Roope of the HMS Glowworm, who rammed his ship and saved any British survivors from the battle. He sent a letter via the Red Cross to the British to avoid any backlash from Hitler's regime honoring the death of a worthy opponent.
I don't speak English, so i Will Say this in spanish: Que puta locura de video! Que cosa tan hermosa, tan brutal, tan real. Goosebumps! Muchas gracias por esta bella obra de arte. Me haces llorar! Que emoción!
a mis 36 años, Stigler me enseño el real significado de honor
Ta buena la música
Google Translated: What a fucking crazy video! What a beautiful thing, so brutal, so real. Goosebumps! Thank you very much for this beautiful work of art. You make me cry! What a thrill!

I wish this was the official video so more people would see your amazing skills and animations, hands down best animation of this historic event I’ve ever seen
It’s Yarnhubs animation not his
@@Goldfishbox77 yarnhub is more fortnite gtaphic, this one is more realistic, and the scene angles are different
its not yarnhub its another creator it has 52 mil views on the actual thing @@Goldfishbox77
Great animation, it's one of the few things that truly shows the size difference of a B-17 and a ME BF-109
saw this on shorts, damn very inspiring and huge salute to these men, fly high.
Such a beautiful story of honor
Even in the chaos of war, and in the evil of man there is always a shining light of peace. What Franz Stigler did was not just the ultimate act of peace, but and act of dignity that deserves the full honor he has received, and more. Because in the shadow that would have been the crew of Ye olde’ pub’s death he was the shining light that guided those men home, and gave them the chance to se their families.
Basically revamping the yarn hub version
Wow great animation of this story.
I agree it makes the pilots show a lot more emotion than yarn hub's animation.
Even in times of war, we can still be... human no matter the nation.
Love u Legend ❤❤❤ loyalty n ur friendship being a enemy toward Two country❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for leaving the swastika. Lots of animated WWII content quietly takes it away....
happy 80th anniversary of no bullets fly day
U ain't a man if this story don't bring a tear to ur eye😊
Long live Sabaton and long live Franz Stigler somewhere in the sky
It looks real!
The only thing that I find wrong with the animation is that three of the four engines are at full power in reality only one engine was at full power two were sputtering and one was completely dead.
The YarnHub//Sabaton co-op is great at telling the story as it unfolded. For those familiar with the prior or even perhaps with just the historical source material...here you accomplish with no words outside the lyrics of Sabaton's song an all but silent retelling. Well done. VERY well done.
Brave men, heros and that includes Franz Stigler hands down, never forget the bravery of these men , great and emotional video, please do more, subbed
Never forget? I would say 99% of the people in the world never even heard of them.

Impresionante video e historia, honor y gloria a los CAÍDOS en combate
my only complaint is the wrong airplane markings on Stiglers plane, he wasnt in JG 53 he was II/JG 27
Wasn’t Franz Stigler shocked and n aww how this shot up Bomber was still being able to be flown?
That's pretty much exactly what he said to himself as he got closer: "My God, how are you still flying?"
@@alexwyman7048It's why he spared them. It was so fucked up they were helpless in his eyes and you do not kill a helpless enemy.
He didn’t think they’d make it back that’s why I think he tried pointing them in a different direction than they were going to a closer safe zone
@@TheMan-je5xq I think when Ye old pub was getting back from a bombing run, back then wasn’t Sweden neutral territory? Franz Stigler even tried to get them to land as well cause I think the way he saw the plane, Charles “Charlie “ brown and his crew, he knew they wouldn’t make it back due to how shot up the B-17 was:/
@@calebnwaobia6285 I believe the way it happened was initially he tried signaling them to land and when they wouldn’t, he then tried signaling them to go to Sweden because he figured they’d have a better chance of reaching there than all the way back to England
Opponents but not enemies.
Geeze, Franz I appreciate the effort but make the gun sign with your hand and point ahead. They will understand that. Afterwards gesture a heading in degrees. You made more work for you and confused them :)
buen remasterizado

Why would he point a gun at him after he tried to help him ...?
Did really know his motives
Charlie didn't know what Franz was trying to indicate. I read "A Higher Call" which is the story of Franz and Charlie's careers during the war. When one of Charlie's crew suggested Franz was telling them to land in Germany (though in fact, Franz was suggesting they either bail out or fly across the North Sea to neutral Sweden, which was closer than Britain and would intern them safely) Charlie got annoyed; he'd already made the decision to try to get them all home just before Franz showed up. So he ordered his gunner to aim at Franz (but not necessarily fire) to warn him off. Franz got the message- and when he saw Franz salute him before he flew off, so did Charlie. It wasn't personal. The Americans were all scared and high-strung, and Franz understood that, even though he thought they had better odds of survival flying to Sweden.
I always thought it was to make him fly off as they were nearing friendly airspace and striger may of been shot at , so it was to spare him from being killed by friendly fighters
@@SamuraiGirl2020 Not an unreasonable assumption, given the confusing chivalry Franz had already shown them.
