I quit doing gig work full-time last June. I took a slight pay cut I'm at $19 an hour at the VA Medical Hospital. Have a 6am to 330 pm schedule, every other Friday off, weekends off. Awesome benefits and if I wanna gig work a couple hours each days or on my days off I do. I'm so glad I did it!

I'm definitely a gig worker. Doordash, Uber and Instacart pay for my health insurance. My W2 job is a small company in Jersey, I live in PA so health insurance is tricky, there's only 3 of us. It's easier for me to get paid well by my W2 job and buy my health insurance from Pa Marketplace. I choose to supplement with gig work to pay my $555/premium, because then I can write it off on my taxes. It a win win for me! As long as I show a profit at the end of the year, I'm golden.

I think "gig worker" is more of a life style. Just the way we do our days is completely different and stuff. I think you are gig working, but you wouldn't be considered gig workers to me personally bc this isn't what you do full time.
So true, its not a grind until you do it 60hrs a week give or take! I dont recommend to do this fulltime, part timers ussually dont really need the money in most cases and some do! Though you can have a full timer that lives with the parents or grandma etc,,, or even retired that dont really need much money! Just my opinion! I feel part timers that dont really need the money have the upper advantage and can decline as much as they like!!!! I feel that's the smarter way to go about things. There will always be low ball offers!!!! Im more amazed at the full timers that can make serious bank, there are over 1000 youtubers that head out and make a hundred bucks a shift!!! But Im sure making youtube content pays far better than dashing for 200-400 a day LOL!!!!!

I noticed a new thing on Doordash. I did a Stop & Shop order with three cases of water, and they designated it for an "extra effort" pay. A little more for heavy lifting.

Anyone doing these gigs are gig workers it’s just if you do it sporadically or full time. I hover between part time and full time doing mostly Spark. Spark has an invasion problem so it has slowed down a lot so I’ve had to change my hours recently and add in some Uber and DD and even did an Instacart today! I haven’t done one in a year!

I have a part-time job 3tx per wk 8am to 12pm. Then I try to do gig work 3tx or 4tx per wk . More wed to sat. I need especially with bill & car repairs. I live in Rhode Island but I am going to Attleboro Massachusetts to see if I can get higher paying orders.
DoorDash he become terrible in Orlando. There is like 1 order per hour. I used to do this full time but now I just work my W2.

I am retired and recently widowed. I do gig apps few hours a day Thursday-Sunday for gambling money lol otherwise I’d be stuck at home

While u were gone DD made some unfavorable changes. They've started tracking driving data which they then sell to insurance companies without our consent. U can opt out of seeing the data in app but who knows if they're still tracking it or not. They also got rid of dash along the way. I used to use it as a destination filter & also to take advantage of peak pay in other zones. Next time u roll thru NYC u should see what gig workers there have to deal with by turning on your apps. Scary.

Of course it's gig work. I work FT and do gig work on the side. I used the extra income to become debt free. Now, all my gig work earnings are used to fund my IRA and brokerage account. I typically earm between 300-500 a week

I refuse to go back to w2 lol. I hated those jobs. Hated the hours, the forced schedule, the shitty bosses, working out in the weather. Yeah no thanks. I make like 800-1000 a week in like 45 hours and can take off whenever i want. I have not really seen a slow down in gig work. Of course it’s not as good as during covid but that was to be expected. I just had to adjust strategies. I do Amazon flex at like 330 am for 90-140 bucks. Then spark most of the rest of the day. With food apps, catering, instacart, and other smaller apps sprinkled in. 15 hour days 3 days a week is what works for me.. then I’ll do like a 4 hour night shift here and there as well if i need to.
