Moving to Philippines 🇵🇭 is not quality of life . Because of the heavy pollution cause by people burning grass every 5 minutes of the day. High temperature 🤒 like 45 celcius up and old vehicles on the road and two stroke motorcycles 🏍 pollution. Dilapidated houses run down or never completely done and never have a paint since construction done. Philippines 🇵🇭 is a place to visit but not to stay. Health should be number 1 but in Philippines 🇵🇭 is not. It is not all negative the people are super nice the beaches are great 👍 to find a partner no problem and summer 12 months a year but extreme weather like tsunami 🌊 earthquakes power failure and poor internet connection at some areas like smaller islands 🌴. If you like to see poor people and misery come plenty of needy people here but some sections are rich part of Manila. If you come here make sure you have a stream of income coming monthly because you would need to get an A.C. Aircon 24/7 running. 😅

I really think that it's because everybody lives on the Internet now. In America, many families hardly talk with their relatives anymore, rarely get together, just text and video. Neighborhoods are so quiet. People just listen to whatever social podcast supports their views. There is no physical interaction and no comarodity anymore at work we're all just faceless teleworkers. I married a Philipna lady a couple of years a go. I've been to Manilla 3 times. I must say I am impressed how well Filipinos get along. They visit their friends, they have family parties for every little event. heck, even their funerals are days long family events. I have never met a filipino that was rude. Even here in America the Filipinos get along well.
The old fashioned social life is what attracts many expats here. Granted, TikTok and what not is used a lot here but I’ve also found people still genuinely enjoy deep connection, especially in the bounds of family.
Retiring in 65 days at the age of 55 and permanently moving to the Philippines the end of May. Life is more than working till you die.

Been living in northern Luzon now for about 6 months. I agree with the fact that American lifestyles can often be depressing nowadays. Part of the reason I wanted to move over here is because of the social isolation. The neighborhood I lived in, in America, was silent. Now, I live in a village here and it's extremely lively. I love it.

I've been raised to set my goals to acquire the "American Dream". This was about 10 years before the internet. I pretty much groomed myself in High School to go into business related fie;d, such ad administration, accounting or marketing. I soon realized that the dream was not attainable by everyone and I would have to work hard doing something that I didn't really enjoy to achieve it. I tried to focus on making my career goals related to something I did enjoy: music, art and media. After a Bachelor in Communication and 15 years of trying to keep my head above water to pay bills, never selling out to the business world, I realized that I was chewed up ans spit out by the system. I found my happiness, not by following the American dream, but following my own dream abroad. Don't get bogged down trying to keep up with other people. Follow your own path and you will be happier..

I am a Filipino living in Las Vegas and I can say that what he said was true especially the schools poisoning the minds of kids teaching them LGBTQ things. I dont hate the LGBTQ community but that should be something that kids should decide on once they are in the right age when their brains are already fully developed and when they can finally make decisions for themselves. But to shove it down their throats while they are still clueless little kids who cannot think for themselves let alone decide for themselves is just downright disgusting. Its too much hate, politics, and division in the US. Marriage rates are at all time low and divorce rate is through the roof. Traditional values are thrown out the window. The American society has lost its way. I am not gonna find a wife and build a family here because I already know what will happen. My wife will likely cheat on me and file for divorce to take half of my things, get alimony money from me, and get child support money from me. The court will side with the woman, makes sure that the woman receives alimony and child support, and get custody. The kid will grow up rude, disrespectful, and fcked up because of all the LGBTQ things that schools will shove down his brain at a young age, because of the prevailing culture in America, and because he is gonna grow up without a strong and traditional father. We all know that most people in prison grew up from fatherless homes. That is not the kind of family life I want. So you know what? I am just here to work as hard as I can, save and invest money as much as I can, once I have enough, i will go back home in the PH, find me a young, beautiful, sexy traditional wife, create a family, and teach my kids traditional values. Besides, my dollars will go further and my quality of life will get better in the PH. I know because i have been going back home to PH every year for the past few years.

I have lived in Japan, Korea, Kuwait 🇰🇼, Saudi 🇸🇦 Arabia, Marshall Islands 🇲🇭 and in the Philippines 🇵🇭 at Clark Air Base back in 1991. Age (61) now. I am a widower, wife passed in 2016. Evan, as always I appreciate your work. A lot of good information for us. I'm here in the Los Angeles area and I'm looking to retire in the Philippines in the next few years. There's lots of things like that going around these days which talks about if this is the fall of the Roman Empire for the United States. I hope not because if the US collapses, I think it'll cause lots of problems for the world.
USA has its share of problems but we also have many great things going for us. US has its inflation problems, income inequality and crime. But I think just about every country has those problems. I plan on retiring in the Philippines but I also plan on having a base in the US as well.

I am in a Sanctuary state in the west coast, and my community is overwhelmed by Illegal immigrants and the safety is getting worst and I am deciding to sell my townhouse next year and get my dual citizen. I am retiring early because of bad immigration policy of this government and I cannot even get out at night. I hope more expat or Fil-Am watch your vlog. Thanks

My biggest issue is the border, and the Trillions sent overseas while Americans suffer. You can walk right across our boarder, then we feed, house, and give them medical care, while taxpayers get higher EVERYTHING!!!!
Honestly i would consider splitting my time between BGC and Canada during my retirement years because Philippines is still a third world country at the end of the day and Canada still has a lot to offer for quality of life. I could never leave my first world life for a so called extravagant expat life under the Canadian dollar because those that don’t live under western currency have living conditions worse than we do, not everyone can just live within the American dollar in BGC
It is not so much that “the exchange rate is good”. The reason the Philippines is affordable is because of the difference in labor costs in American vs. Philippines. Which is what makes it the perfect place for an American that made money from being an American laborer for years.
The only drawback to moving to the Philippines for most Americans is the fact that they cannot own property. the other drawbacks are bad road conditions, tons of litter and garbage, high crime, the stench of rotting animal flesh, bad and overpriced internet, and corruption. Last year a lot of Americans bought homes in Thailand and Malaysia. nine of my American and two British friends bought and own their homes already. They say the infrastructure is 200X better than the Philippines. The visa is better and the country is very clean. Some of the retirees living there now with low incomes ($1k to $3K per month) are starting to leave a come to the Philippines. They say the Thai government changed their visa status because they bring nothing to the country. The best visas come with incomes in the range of $6k a month and up. This shift has started last year and will continue into the future. I personally can not leave because I have thirty years invested in the Philippines. but I am planning to buy property in one of those areas for rental units like i did in Japan.
I am not disagreeing with you about the US having many serious problems, it does. But for fairness could you do a video on positive aspects here. I have been to the Philippines many times and found it a wonderful and beautiful country but like the US, it has many serious problems too. Maybe you could do a video about them. Please show some balance in your videos.

Companies are slowly discovering that their remote employees no longer need to be Americans. The company can save lots of money by hiring a Filipino instead of paying American-level salary to a digital nomad living in the Philippines. And make no mistake, there are educated and capable Filipinos that can do your job. For less.

The US is a great place to build wealth, but you don't have to live here. This country is whacked and makes no sense. But people get the country they deserve... I give it 25 more years before SHTF. Who knows, something may change and the pendulum may swing back the other way?

Is our economy bad? No but it is out of balance, like many other things in the US. As a real estate investor, I have to laugh when I hear anyone say that home ownership in the US is no longer attainable. Here's the deal; even with higher interest rates being used as a slow down tactic and inflation, we can't hold on to houses. Literally everything is being sold so fast and so high above value, that we can't keep up. Do you understand what that means? It means there are more people in the market ready and able to buy than there are homes to to sell. The biggest challenge is that building after the pandemic can't keep up with demand. Once that is caught up (and it may take years), supply will once again balance out with demand and prices will stabilize. Why do I say this? Because we have already been through this. Economically, this is the exact same scenario we went through in the 1980"s, where the FED raised interest rates in order to stabilize an out of control real estate market while dealing with rising fuel costs and inflation. It worked then and it's working even better this time. What happened in the 80's led to a skyrocketing economy in the 90's that we enjoyed until around 2019. In fact, if the FED and our government would'nt have been drunk on prosperity, they would/should have set better controlls in place around 2005 and we could have completely avoided the 2008 debacle. The bottom line is that we are in a position of garanteed future growth which very few other countries can match right now. If you want to see what real trouble looks like, go spend a few years in Canada right now.
As for the rest, like crime, immigration, homelessness and mental illness, we are facing some pretty big challenges that may spiral out of control but I believe if we can admit and address our country's failures, the rest will fix themselves. Thos are drugs and education. We may not solve everything by fixing those two issues but for sure, nothing will work until we do.
All that being said, I still can't wait to see the Philippines and your videos are extremely helpful. Keep it coming!
