If anyone's knows of a business with a lower cost of entry than books please let me know. Book Bandit I think you are spot on about being a lover of books to keep your interest. The hardest thing sometimes is to want to read the books you source. When I first started a one year ago I was selling merchant fulfilled and was reading a book about the history of cod fishing when it sold and I had to send it to the buyer. I now only do FBA.
+Ken Hebert I constantly find interesting books. I have two shelves with around 25 books that I have purchased over the past year or so that I intend on reading. I am reading one now that I bought recently. I find books I have wanted to read for some time but never bought them, but at these prices... Selling books via FBA is definitely inexpensive considering how much just about any business cost.
I sell a ton of books and I hate reading books. I read for hours online. Books are easy to find, cheap to buy, easy to pack and ship, also they dont break and if you grade them properly they dont really get returned. Most people are lazy and quit most everything in their life. I agree with you. You need to list so many books for the sales to come rolling in.
+Eric_Jab Books are abundant, take up little space for storage at Amazon and they are straightforward, as in fairly easy to grade and describe. Thanks for watching and commenting.
+BookBandit oh and another good thing when mixing in some retail arbitrage, I can add books to my shipment and put books into my different boxes to get my weight up to as close to 50Lbs as possible to save money on inbound shipping costs for some lighter items that I have quantity on and I want them out the door to fba as fast as possible.
Thanks again! Another video that I enjoyed. I really like the short piece that you put at the end of your videos. When you are finished the topic I make sure to keep watching until the very end so I dont miss anything.
Hello, I am not a big lover of books, BUT I have sold various items (mostly video games) online for the past 15 years. Books were a nice change for me and I enjoy getting out and speaking with other book sellers. I have become better and better at spotting profitable books by eye. I'd say if you are highly self-motivated, you can still do well with books.
+dragoonboy1 You don't have to be a big book reader to have success at this business I just imagine it would be more enjoyable if you were. I don't meet too many other book sellers to chat with except for here on TH-cam. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. I have been fairly successful selling on eBay but have never attempted FBA. This is my first watched video on the subject and I have already learned something, that being camelcamelcamel. Had never heard of it.
+Scott Hightower Welcome to the channel and the world of FBA. Yes, CCC is a very helpful tool. I use it every time I am listing products. What kinds of items do you sell on eBay? I have bought off of eBay but never sold. Thanks for watching.
Nice video. I am about to get started with FBA and books are my choice of product. My wife is a grade school teacher and we have a TON of children's books around the house and garage. Once I get my FBA account and scanner I will be scanning these to see if they are sell-able. I subscribed and will be watching many more of your vids. Thanks!
Thanks. Congratulations on starting FBA. I find the best children's books to sell are oversized hardcovers with dust jackets. There are a few chapter books for older kids that sell well too. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
I love watching your videos and have a learned alot. I was lucky to come into obtaining no less than 1000 very high value books for free , There is still about 1000 more that are likely going to be abandoned but I am so overwhelmed with what I retrieved I don't know what in the world to do now or where to start ugh!! I was lucky to get some free storage space but honestly I cannot even imagine how much it would cost to ship all this to amazon. I also saw alot of Amazon stickers on the books that I retrieved.
+SoNatural Tasha Awesome score! Have you looked them up on Amazon to see if they would be good to sell FBA? If they are FBA worthy then I recommend stringing out the shipments. Maybe do 100 books a week or even every two weeks. The inbound shipping costs will depend on how many books you are sending in at once and how far they have to travel. Of course the more you send in at once the less expensive shipping is per pound. Regardless since you got the books for free you should definitely set up a schedule for sending them in. Thanks for watching.
+BookBandit Thank you! Yes I scanned some of them with the Amazon app and many of the books have great rankings. 505, 1200, 5000 and some are 25,000 and 50,000 rank. Maybe about 30 of the 200 books or so I have scanned are in this range. Some books are also selling between $80 and $140 but the ranking is in the 200,000 or higher rank. I think it is still going to cost alot to ship in Canada though. I will aim for 100 books per week for shipping if i can afford to. I guess i should start off with a professional seller account to save some money there. I am so happy that most of the books are brand new. This is so exciting! I hope I can make good money : )
SoNatural Tasha Check Camelcamelcamel.com for the sales rank history, which tells you how often the book is selling. Each spike in the graph is a sale. Those ranks are awesome. Maybe do a smaller first shipment (50 books) to see how much the shipping is. If you are brand new to FBA then you shouldn't get the Pro Sellers Account. Make at least 40+ sales a month before you pay the $40 a month fee. The pro account gets rid of the $.99 per item fee you are charged per sale which only makes sense if you are selling 40+ a month. I didn't get the pro account until September of 2015, a year after I sent in my first shipment.
+BookBandit Yes thank you I have been using camelcamelcamel, it is very helpful. I saw a video of you mentioning it : ) Thank you for your advice and quick responses. I will post a video when I see some results.
I wish i had known to start saving my receipts and inventory software. Im just starting out and im so confused, im especially afraid to start shipping.
Thanks for a great video. Is it important to scan the books to see ranking and price before sending in a shipment? I would like to use the FBA channel but I do not want the books returned. It seems like a fun way to make income and it certainly beats sitting In a cubicle all day I will definitely subscribe to your channel!!
+Artismypassion easel Yes, you need to source or buy books first before shipping them to Amazon. When buying the books you should use your scanning app to determine if the books make sense to resell via FBA. Sales rank, number of offers, number of FBA offers, sale price and sales history are all important components of deciding whether a book is worth the money and effort. Amazon will not return books to you unless you request them to do it. You can have Amazon purge a book from your inventory or return it to you, for a small fee. Selling books through FBA is a thrill but it takes a lot of work. Sourcing, preparing/listing and shipping all take time and dedication, not to mention managing your inventory once it's at an Amazon warehouse. Thanks for watching!
if the 50 books that were all under 200k rank at that time and day and were 50 cents each selling for 5 dollars on fba prime hard cover meduim size..wouldnit be stood or waste to send them in amd how do i know what exactly profit i would make.
What kind of labels do we need (type, size, etc) and what kind of label printer? (I don't have a laser printer only an ink jet and I know that doesn't work for barcodes, I read that on Amazon) and do we apply labels to every single book when we ship them in?
+Kevin Fikes Thanks! Totally depends on the types of books you have in your inventory, as in quick sellers versus mid to long tail books. I have a mixture so I currently sell around 5% of my inventory a month. However, I sourced several hundred books in the beginning of my FBA career that I would not source today and have sat for over a year. Therefore, my turnover rate should go up once I get rid of those books. Thanks for watching!
+ emma emma Very part-time as I have my kids with my most days. I started in late 2014 with a small 26 book shipment and in 2015 got more serious and consistent with sourcing and shipments. Now I ship at least one box every week, sometimes two. I am selling between 5-10 books, CDs and some VHS tapes a day.
emma emma It's up to you. Become better at sourcing and you will make more sales. Learn which books sell the best, i.e. fast and/or for good profits. I have from quick selling to longer tail books in my inventory. Consistent sourcing and shipping will lead to steady sales, it did for me.

Eric_Jab Good tip. Books are typically heavier than retail stuff.

+mobernmd Thanks for watching! I am glad that my videos are well received.
I love scanning books. Some people though get bored with scanning books so they will run off to the next fad to make quick money. Great video
+clyde corbin I enjoy sourcing, especially when I find those gems. I also love finding all kinds of interesting books.
