This video was very helpful! I'm looking into getting my first ukulele. I'm putting one on my Christmas list. Would you recommend this as my 1st ukulele?
That was super helpful how you played your other uke, then the flight, then another uke, then the flight again. Most people don’t do that and it was really helpful thank you!
I'm so happy that you found that helpful! I was surprised as well when I was editing the footage and listening to the different sounds side by side. Thank you for watching and thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate it!
I wish I had a cabin too. It was my friend's cabin, but I want to go there more often :). I will say this. I do feel some pressure to be able to give you the best review as possible, and I do see this a huge responsibility. I hope that they help you :). Thank you for your support. I really appreciate it when another musician comes along side me.
I actually bought two of these yesterday: I originally intended to buy only one as a gift for the son of a friend who will shortly be nine years old althoughI've no idea if he'll like it enough to want to learn how to play. I wanted to get him something affordable that wouldn't hold him back if he was interested in playing. I did notice how sharp the frets felt on some of the other budget instruments that I tried and I didn't realise until I saw your video that this was a common issue with ukes (presumably they are made in hot countries and the wood shrinks). There's definitely nothing protruding on the flight instrument. My main reason for buying the Flight Travel uke was the plastic construction. I thought that it might turn out to be more child resistant than the average uke, so it's more likely to still be around on a year or two. The top has a matt finish, which I think probably helps with the sound. One thing that I didn't notice you mention in the video was the mock grain texture on the neck which might not be to the liking of some people. I also thought that it was strange that, given that it is plastic, the manufacturers should have gone for a fake maple colour on the neck. The fingerboard doesn't feel like plastic at all. Having got one for my young friend, I realised that I'd probably end up getting saddled with teaching him the basics and, as I've never even held a uke before yesterday, I thought I'd better try and learn something about them myself so, about thirty minutes later I went back to the shop and got the same model for myself. In my case, the child resistance of the instrument was less of an issue so my choice was based purely on the feel (no "razor neck" was a big plus) and the tone of the instrument - although I didn't realise how good the sound was until I saw the comparisons in the video. I've had a fun day playing with my new uke (thanks also to the video, I now know that uke arm is something that is not unique to me!). I've already picked up a few chords and have enjoyed strumming away to classics such as "Tonight you belong to me" as well as a few modern 3 chord wonders and I'm getting my head around the standard high g tuning, which really messed with my head when I was trying out the instruments in the store, so hopefully, I should be able to set my young friend in the right direction when I give him his instrument tomorrow. Although I put quite a bit of thought into getting this as a gift, in the case of the instrument that I got for myself it was more of an impulse purchase. I have quite large hands and although I find I'm OK at the nut end, I think things would start to feel cramped once I go beyond the 3rd fret. So, if I end up getting interested in the uke, I'd probably end up going for a concert, or even larger scale, instrument but i would probably have to pay a lot more for a larger scale instrument with an equivalent sound. So, I'd recommend this for anyone who wants an instrument for traveling, or, an instrument that would stand up to a lot of abuse (ideal for a child taking the instrument to and from school). Because of the surprisingly good sound I'd also recommend this as an instrument for anyone who wants to dip their toes into the water and find out what ukuleles are all about.
@@OneMusicSchool : - I’m glad that my comments were appreciated. Both I and my friend’s son are still having a lot of fun with our ukuleles although I’ve moved on from the TUS35 and I’ve now got a whole family of ukuleles - hopefully, over the next few days I’ll be posting some comments on some of your other videos as some of the experiences, both good and not so good, that I’ve had in acquiring my new family relate to some of the of the other instruments that you’ve reviewed. Over the last few months I’ve spent a lot of time exploring my inner virtuosity (although, at this stage, I’m still keeping my virtuosity very much on the inside :-) ): I’ve been working on some of the early pieces in James Hill’s “Duets For One” and I’ve got one or two other tunes in an almost recognisable form as well :-). Now I’ve spent a lot more time playing other ukuleles (will I ever feel my fingers again?). I find that I can manage to do most of what I can on a larger instrument on the TUS35. I am able to play further up the neck than I originally thought I’d be able to although, although, more often than not, barred chords higher up the neck come across slightly muffled because I my finger is fatter than the space between the frets. (the result sounds OK but doesn’t stand up to scrutiny). If I get the same result on a larger instrument, at least I know it’s because I’m rubbish. :-) One thing I’ve noticed is that the silver paint on the frets on the TUS35 wears off quite quickly - My one looks almost fretless up as far as the 5th fret and the paint on the frets on the E and A strings has pretty much gone up to the 8th or 10th fret. This is only a cosmetic thing as it's only the paint that's worn away and, to my mind, a bit of honest wear and tear adds character to any instrument (whereas, if you take a chunk out of the gloss on your new… whatever on day one, that is just sad :-( ). Also for any parents thinking of getting one of these for a child who’s learning, the disappearing paint “feature” is a good way to tell whether your child has been practising :-). Although he’s always keen to play when I visit, and he is picking things up quite quickly, I’ve noticed that my young friend’s TUS35 remains in pristine condition - my only regret is that I gave him the best looking one :-).
So helpful! And I agree with you I love how you compared the sound to other ukes. Really it sounded better than a few of them! “Tiny yet mighty”! Love it! And the color!
I love the side-by-side comparison, that was REALLY helpful!!! I always wished I'd have stuck with the ukulele (any stringed instrument, really) when we learned in gradeschool back in the seventies. Pianos are great, but not portable ;) So, at 55, I just began to learn ukulele again, and am watching you and Bernadette. I just received the Flight TUS35 I bought for my (now 20 months old) grandson. I'll be keeping it a few years yet, breaking it in and all. I'm a beginner player myself, but by the time he's ready to learn I'll be okay. Question: Of course I'm having to tune it every five minutes because it's brand-new (they ship them with the strings basically just ON there, apparently, no stretching done at all) and as I tighten the strings, I'm finding the E string is not going to have enough room to tighten much more (it's beginning to overlap the previous wrap, making a second 'layer' if you will). Please tell me I don't have to try to remove that string and trim it a bit shorter so it won't do that any more... What do you think? (and thank you for your help, here if you have time to answer, and for your videos that are so in-depth!)
I have had a Flight TU35 for 6 months (in black). It really is the perfect travel uke. Mine spent a month travelling in my campervan around Europe in 90+ degree heat . The action and intonation is great and it sounds fab. I even performed a little gig with it. Mine did come with a sturdier bag which was a massive bonus as I wasn't expecting it. My only, slightly less positive, observations are that strings did seem to take a little while to settle and the silver paint(?) on the plastic frets has worn off but neither of those are a problem. I've been practicing All You Need Is Love on it this week :-)
Hey! Would you recommend it for long-term travel? I'm going backpacking for 9-11 months next year and am looking into a traveling ukulele. I currently have a concert size one that I don't want to risk getting scratched up, its too pretty hehe.
I am a new player so I need LOTS of practice. I have a nice Kala Solid Flame Maple one I use at home but I wanted one I could take with me in the car or by the pool or when I travel for work ( a lot) so that I did not have an excuse to skip practice. I did a ton of research and by far this is the best sounding rugged/durable Ukulele out there. Thank you for the review.
Hello Mrs. DeNure, First off I am an older man set in his ways. While this instrument does have a decent sound, and does have a place in todays world,I doubt that I would spend $50 for it,even with the web site being sold of it at this time.As I said I am set in my ways, and I guess you might call me a traditionalist . I realley enjoyed your review of it,as I do all of your videos, and I have learned a great deal from you.I have 6 stringed instruments with #6 being a solid mahogany electric baritone ukulele, and I just love it,and it is my favorite.and I have you to thank for it.Thank the good Lord for putting you on this earth.Keep up the good work, and God bless.
What fun review! And so much information! Thank you for discussing the action-that was really helpful. 😊 The side-by-side comparison was great, too! I’m also glad you talked about the rounded body because I’ve been curious about that, too. It was really cool seeing you play it outside on the boat! 😃
I'm so happy that this helped you and that touching on the different design aspects helped you! It really helps me out as well to know what my subscribers find important! It was fun to bring something along with me to play without having to worry about ruining it :). Thanks and have a great day!
My mom has the waterman, and she doesn't really play it anymore. I can understand why tone wise. The waterman is completely water-resistant, and that is perfect for wet climates. If water isn't an issue, I love the tone the TUS35 produces.
Thanks for the sound comparison with other ukes. It helped a lot. I've been seriously considering getting one of these just because I'd like a soprano size and it's a great price. I don't see myself playing a soprano as much as I do the concert and tenor but it's that "classic" Hawaiian sound that I just can't stop thinking about!
I'm so happy that this helped :). I know that I was really surprised by the fullness of the one for such a small, affordable instrument. Let me know if you do end up picking one up, and let me know what you think :).
Yeah! I'm so glad that the side by side comparison helped! I think I should do that more often. Sometimes it's hard to tell what something sounds like until you compare it with other brands made out of different materials. Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it!
The sound on it is just as nice as the Grace VanderWall uke (I'm listening with headphones!) and nicer than some of the others, in my opinion. I just wish they'd make one like this in the concert size, as that is the size I most want to play.
Creating Beauty I found this soprano model with concert neck on Amazon and at East Coast Music in VA. It is a Flight TUSL-25. I think the L in the model means long neck soprano.
I have 3 ukuleles right now, my first is a soprano Mitchell MU40 this was my baby and has done it's job as far as being able to learn the basics! My second is a concert Luna tattoo she is my daughter 😂 she has lasted me a little over a year, she holds her tune , has a nice aesthetic to her etching, and overall is a beautiful ukulele, and I had just ordered a kaka blue ukulele in tenor size, he will be the dad haha so I will unbox him and see how he is but I'm excited because I've seen your review and Bernadette's , as well as ukulele cheats 💜
Awesome comparison video, Katie! I ordered the red Flight just now as a result of this review. I've seen Bernadette's good reviews & this sealed the deal. Thanks again! PS: i'm only 5 months into this new musical journey with the ukulele, and i got bit by the bug bad! I'll be back for more vids...
It has a nice and full tone, I didn't expect that! I already heard of Flight ukuleles, seems to be a great brand! And they're all very pretty. Thanks for the review!
Hey girl! How are you? I was surprised how full the tone was as well. I was really surprised with I compared it to other ukes as well how it competed with some other ones that were three times as expensive.
Thankyou I have been looking at these ukulele,s recently and pondering on weather or not to buy one you have convinced me after listening to the demonstration going for it.
AWWWWW You made my day!!! Thank you for watching and I'm so happy that this helped you! Thank you for taking the time to comment. I hope to see you in the comments section again.
Happy Trails from Canby Oregon 🙋♀️ A month ago I left a comment that I had just seen this review & I had ordered this Flight. Well, I've had my Lil'Red a month now & i LOVE her!!! This is the absolutely BEST beginner uke for the price point with incredible quality. And for intermediate & expert, a great little TRAVEL uke to go to the cabin with... My pup & i walk with Lil Red around our Christian camp playing for Papa... You will NOT be disappointed!😁🙌
That uke is really beautiful. I wish they could change the gigbag cause that gig bag is very thin and it looks i does not look it can protect the uke well. I discovered that brand from another youtuber called Elise Ecklund. You are one of the best when you are reviewing a ukulele. I really love that ukulele and you of course! Sorry for being late i have been busy due to exams school and time differences
Hi, and thanks for watching! I completely understand what you're saying about the gig bag. It's really thin and won't protect the instrument, but it does keep the cost more affordable. I'm so happy that you would spend your prescious time with me. 😁
Thanks for the update. I was considering getting a flight in the concert size. They are quite affordable and they have them in stock at my local uke store.
Thank you for watching :). Let me know what you decide to buy and what model. I've haven't tried any other model before, so it would be great to see what you think about the concert sized ukulele.
I love it! I was so surprised by the tone of this ukulele, I think it actually has more 'depth' than a lot of ukes, that are much more expensive. Mostly though, it looks like fun, for beginners (with that zero nut), through to experienced players. Great video, thank you. 👏👏
Soooo....I was already totally becoming one of your biggest fans (after watching a few other vids this morning--thank you also for the re-stringing video, and "save your uke" video!) and THEN, I started seeing some popular Christian music tutorials pop-up, and THEN, I saw this one(!) about a uke I just ordered to try out for purposes of travel and variable conditions (like for use in a parade, or on my PONTOON), so, I hit play so that I could hear yet another confirmation of all the things I am looking forward to about this uke...and there you were, sharing the great, detailed info(!), AND singing some of my fave Christian and other songs, AND on a pontoon! What??? It was just a joyous moment, which I know is funny, because I am just one more fan of yours, but there you have it. (Fyi, closer and closer to pulling the trigger on ordering an Enya Nova U for the waterproof element...I also teach paddleboard and need one that is even safer on the water for this waterbaby...but trying to hold myself back until the other arrives...because adulting & self-control? ;-)) Anyway, you are wonderful, thank you!
As a lefty compensated bridges are usually a no no for me but this seems to have compensation on the 2 outer strings and 2 inner strings, meaning that swapping over and restringing for lefty it will still stay in tune.
I have a Ovation guitar, it has a plastic round shape back, top spruce wood, the neck is plastic with a metal fret board, frets and fret board from one single item, purchased it years ago because I didn’t want weather changes to it. So this has been used before. The interesting things about Ovations is they can mathematically predict the sound by slightly changing the round shape back. My model is more bass sounding. Glen Campbell used to play one, well a $$$ model over my circa 1980 $350 one, they lost a little favor because they are a little harder to play sitting down, the round back, given the size of it.
Another great review Katie thank you. I have a couple plastic ukes. One being a Outdoor uke and the other being a Kala Waterman. I take one or the other on kayaking trips. I leave one in my truck to play when Im setting in stand still traffic. I think I'm going to add one of these little Flights to my ever growing collection. Brrrrrrrrrrr 45 degrees I'm glad I live in the south😎 anyway thanks again for your indepth review.
So Happy to see you in the comments section today! This really is a gem. It's not waterproof, hit it plays well and sounds beautiful. This would be a great camping uke! Right now it's 75 degrees and really humid! On Thursday, it will drop to 45 degrees.. .gotta love Wisconsin!
I have a Sakura Flight Uke. It's nice; VERY bright-sounding. I did have to change the strings though ( I would like to note that). The original factory strings made this sound when your fingers would roll off of them; it was akin to running your fingers on glass or nails on a chalkboard (only not as egregious). The squeaking sound was too much to ignore during softer songs that I would fingerpick so I replaced them with some Martin Fluorocarbon Stings. I hope you'll get to review one of the electric ukuleles they just released. Also, also: I wish the Soprano sized ones came with strap buttons (amiright?!)
I got my ukuleles just before covid. I just have been waiting for some help to get going. Now that things are a tiny bit normal, maybe I can get some real lessons.
I don't currently own a flight ukulele, but I watch another youtuber who uses flight quite often in her videos. Her name is Elise Ecklund, check her videos outs! Right now I have a soprano Diamond Head, but I'm looking into getting a concert Flight for my next ukulele because I've really enjoyed the sound and quality that I've seen through her videos.
Yes, she is very popular, and she does play a Flight. I believe that she is one of their ambassadors. I would be really interested to try more from this brand because the most affordable ukulele has a great tone. Thanks for watching and have a great day!
Thank you for such a descriptive review 💜 if I ever travel I think it's worth to acquire something like this! 😻 I just boughy the blue kaka ukulele in tenor size 💜
Hello Kate, thanks for your reviews I'm very very new to ukelele (or any other musical instrument) and liked your videos a lot. One thing that is killing me since yesterday and I can't remember: what is the name of the second song you played in the boat? Also do you have a video on how to play it? Thanks so much again!!!!!
Found you a while ago, love your vids. Really like the flight with the on board reverb and delay. Don't have the buckage for that though...So what did I do... I bought the travel model in black with factory installed passive pick up. I just plug into my cube. Now I've got reverb too!! So thank you for showing me this (-:
I absolutely love the design. The color and finish is just beautiful, the gold hardware is so unique, I have never seen another ukulele with those features, and I love the pickup and built in tuner. I think the sound is great, very smooth and sweet. I love Grace’s signature on the back. It was a cute personal touch. I know some people do not the like the telecaster head stock on the acoustic instruments, but I think it makes it look unique and iconic. I also noticed the ease of tuning the strings because of the design. I was also lucky enough to get to play it in store before purchasing and that made the experience even better. I think it is a great ukulele for the intermediate to expert player or a beginner who already plays a similar instrument (guitar). I think price is very reasonable considering the quality of the instrument, the quality of the gig bag, and the 3 month free subscription to Fender play.
This was super helpful !! Thank you :) I was wondering if you can do a comparison between flight soprano and the concert sopran they have ? That would help me a lot as i searched the internet but there is actually no such video ! Thanks a lot in advance :)
Received and returned mine today - the G string tuner gear failed as I ramped up the pressure attempting to reach proper pitch. The replacement will be arriving in three days (hope it's not defective) along with a Kala KA-STGE-C. They'll bring my UAS up to 7, including two Kanile'as. There's always room for another uke, right?
Great review thank you. I watched it because I thought it was a ukulele that could somehow fit in hand luggage for flights!! Taking on a musical instrument is expensive here in Europe, might be different over there ... I travel back and to from France to the UK occasionally .. like next week .. Nevertheless your review was great and if I was looking at this ukulele I would certainly go for it! Okay I’m off to review what I can fit in my 30cm x 20cm x 20cm luggage allowance 🤔
Got my eye on one of these, I wasn't hugely happy with my Flight Concert, it takes a lot of effort to play, I love my soprano! Does this allow for easy/ effortless playing? I have a cheapie Maholo Soprano and it's so easy on the joints and hands 💙 I never thought to check here for a review! Thanks 😊
I am very surprised! I was considering one of these so I wouldn't be afraid of temperature, humidity or drops... Besdes i've always wanted to paint an uke like to look as Steven's (from Steven Universe😅) since it's cheap!
I really like this ukulele - the bright sound and the look. But is it worth buying even if I don't need durable ukulele and if I wouldn't mind investing let's say up to 150$ - I'll be playing just for fun and as I know myself not very often 😇?
Thanks for the review. I found the sound comparisons particularly useful as, apart from the first one (which looked toy-like), I think the others were all concerts, yet the Flight sounded good compared to them- not better but good enough.
☝🎶🏡 Thanks Katie this is helpful. I'm thinking of one for the versatility you mentioned. Your subscribers had amazing questions. The sound comparison, yes! Simple and focused. The one chord, with letting the sustain ring was great. I closed my eyes and let the sound influence me not the name brand or tone woods. It's bright and loud. It has a crispness that is close to my Kala EM tenor. Excellent details in your review of this Flight uku. Playing on a boat, enjoying a sunny lake, and smiley days. Thanks for covering everything, and more than I thought to look for while researching this Flight.
Thank you so much or your encouragement. Sometimes I wonder if I put too much information into a video, but I think it's important. If I were wanting purchase something, I would want to know as much as I possibly could, so thanks for sticking with me :).
@@OneMusicSchool As I'm inquisitive, you can never put to much information in your reviews. You answered everything I could think of, and more! You have a natural talent and the God given skills of an amazing teacher Katie. Your excellent sound comparison is why I bought 2 of these Flight TUS 35's. One lovely blue just like yours and am elegant Black one. Looking around the internet one store had $55us shipping. Kremonausa had $20us shipping, so I could afford to buy two:) I'm experimenting by tuning one 432Hz and the other 440Hz. This video is the best of all the ones reviewing the Flight TUS35. My ears thank you Katie. Happy musical days🙌
I was confused about what you were talking about for the saddle on the flight. Were you saying the flight is good at staying in tune. Or that it needs something more to not be toyish.
Hello, I hope this message finds you well. I am left handed and looking for my first ukulele. I am wondering if this Flight Travel Ukulele would be nice if I restring it for a lefty? Thank you, your videos are really helpful. Hanna
I am thinking of changing the strings on mine which I have had for 3 years. Is like for like replacement best or are there any strings that work better on this uke?
@@OneMusicSchool I am also auditioning for Americas got talent in December! Thanks for being such a great Inspiration because music is so important and I love when people share their talents to show others how fun and amazing music is.❤️
How cool is your video?....COOL!.....Very surprising sound from this Uke (sound comparison was a great idea to do)....Price is so affordable.....bag is not so good but, what can you expect for the price?......better to have a cheap bag and better Uke then visa versa (is that the name of a Nissan car?)........I also like the color.......Nice review, Katie.....Bieber for Sheriff?...Ugh!...Thats almost as bad as Trump for.......Hmmm...never mind...:)...Have a great day, Katie!.
@@OneMusicSchool no mam, I don't have one for travel as of the moment. 😊 I'll have one, in time. My concert size is not that of a travel buddy, I assume.
Thanks. Super helpful. You just saved me 50€ euros. IAM not a trained ear but for me the sound from the flight was way clearer. You would know better. But the others are difficult to justify as a beginner for value.
Hey Katie! I was wondering if I leave my solid wood UKE at home for a month (my family and I are going to Philippines next year) would it be ok? Or will it crack?
If a basketball 🏀 were to hit this ukulele on a scale from 1-10 how damaged would it be? What ukulele would you take to school : this ukulele or the Bondi concert ukulele (the one from the starter kit)?
That's a new question :). I think it would be a 3. I guess it depends upon how hard the basketball hit the uke. Man, both are great. I would take the TUS-35. It's meant to take more of a beating but it still has a big voice.
One Music School thank you so much for replying Katie. Also thank you so much for the circle of life tutorial. I learned the song in one day. Thank you so much Katie❤️ God Bless You ❤️
So I bought this ukulele and although it's new, it gets way out of tune way more quickly than any of my other ukuleles, in the middle of songs, etc. Can I assume, this will still get better over time?
Good question. Have you gently tugged on the strings to stretch them out? The more you play it, the better is should be. I'll link my string changing video where I show you how to gently stretch out your strings.
@@OneMusicSchool Thank you! It's a gift for a friend who is interested in starting, so I'm hoping to get it "broken in" before she starts. I have gently tugged on the strings, but I will continue to do this until it gets better!
It's hard to judge the sound from the travel clips or from an individual chord. We'd get a better sense of the sound if you had played a short song in studio where you have control of the audio.
Good suggestion. I think my studio is pretty comparable to others. I"m using a RODES shotgun mic that is only inches away from my face and the instrument and it's running through my soundboard (Zoom). I'm not using the camera audio at all. To keep it simple, consistent, and concise, I played just one open chord.
Hi Katie :-) (I hope I got your name right) First, I would like to praise your channel, lot of great content, I espetially enjoy unboxing videos among tutorials :-) So, I actually got this ukulele this monday! :-) Well, not exactly this one, but the Flight TUS50. I am not really entirely sure what is different on it, except of the top which is not painted to one colour and has this cool lyzard ornaments around the soundhole, other than that, the same size, 15 frts, zero fret, the same materials and so on, maybe you're gonna be able to tell more of the difference but I doubt there is anything else different other than the top: instagram.com/p/BoroEJFnyAg/?taken-by=peter_tho8 So, I started learning ukulele about two months ago, I mean I got my first way back but kind of id not get to it until recently, and I can tell you, I am totally in love with it, with it's voice and how much revarding it is. I love to travel a lot and I would like to be taking my instrument with me. And I wouldn't dare to take my concert uke to the plane or to the cabin or camping trip.. so I got the Flight TUS50. After two days playing it a lot I can say that it is amazing how well the tuning holds after such short time for a new instrument. I love how low the action is and I find it's voice very warm. I can let you know after I'll take it with me to a trip for the first time :-)
I Got a flight ukulele from a store. It is not in tune down the neck. I wrote them and no response. Don't spend your money on something that looks nice but is a polished turd!
Im sorry for you loss 😥 I always look through comments when I watch videos, I'm praying for you and your family I lost a friend a couple days ago, he killed himself because he came out gay and his family didn't take it well , praying for our angels and for healing
CORRECTION! The graphic for the Grace VanderWaal Signature ukulele was cut off. It has a glossy finish to look like walnut, but it is laminate sapele.
This video was very helpful! I'm looking into getting my first ukulele. I'm putting one on my Christmas list. Would you recommend this as my 1st ukulele?
@@erinevans1032 Yeah! You could do much worse for your first one. And, you can take it everywnhere and play for friends!
That was super helpful how you played your other uke, then the flight, then another uke, then the flight again. Most people don’t do that and it was really helpful thank you!
It's really amazing how such a small instrument such as the ukulele can make such a stunning sound,
Great video Katie!
I know right? I'm surprised how if compared to everything else! Thanks for being here. I love hearing from you.
This review is so helpful! I really liked how you did a sound comparison ❤️ I was surprised to hear such a big voice from it 😊 have a wonderful day!

Thank you for leaving such thoughtful feedback! I’m so appreciate of your time and for sharing your experience. 😀😀😀😀
One thing I’ve noticed is that the silver paint on the frets on the TUS35 wears off quite quickly - My one looks almost fretless up as far as the 5th fret and the paint on the frets on the E and A strings has pretty much gone up to the 8th or 10th fret.
I really do like it. I actually have it with me right now on a weekend trip.
OMGeee this was a great review! I learned a lot and especially liked the side by side comparison. Thank you!
I'm so happy that it helped you, and I hope it helps you look at Ukuleles differently as you're shopping 😁.
Totally sold on the flight uke... seems like a perfect fit for our sailing life.
Lets sail and uke together
Just order one now. After days of thorough research and hours of watching reviews. Thank u so much! ❤️❤️❤️
I have one of these and I've started using it more than my Kala. The sound is bright, but soft and warm.
Thanks for this review. Thanks especially for the side-by-side sound comparison. Keep up the great work!
I love how you described your ukulele family!!! So cute! Tell me what you think of the KaKa tenor. I only have the concert, but I Love it!
@@OneMusicSchool it's a dream 😍 it came today and OMG the GLOSS 💗💗💗💗 I'm in love with its sweet mellow tone , I just wish it came with a ukulele strap
One of the best instrument reviews I have seen.
Aww! Thank you :).
@@OneMusicSchool You certainly will I really like your style of teaching I find you easy to follow and you explain the difficult bits well.
Wow! This is a great Uke review. I love the side by side sound checks; awesome! Thanks for sharing this information!
I love it! I was so surprised by the tone of this ukulele, I think it actually has more 'depth' than a lot of ukes, that are much more expensive. Mostly though, it looks like fun, for beginners (with that zero nut), through to experienced players. Great video, thank you. 👏👏
Thanks for watching and thanks for taking the time to comment. I’m glad you liked the video.
This is the next ukulele I'm going to get. You just convinced me. This was a great review! I can't wait.
Hi Katie ! Thanks for the review !
Also, will you make a Fender Grace Vanderwaal Concert Ukulele review ? That would be awesome !
Love from France !
YES! The Review is coming soon, and I can't wait! It is a beautiful ukulele :).
Oh greaaaaaaat, another ukulele that I'll have to lust over. LOL!
Oh great ! Cant' wait !
Great review, especially the side by side playing. The Flight is surprisingly a good sounding uke. Thanks for posting this.
(Fyi, closer and closer to pulling the trigger on ordering an Enya Nova U for the waterproof element...I also teach paddleboard and need one that is even safer on the water for this waterbaby...but trying to hold myself back until the other arrives...because adulting & self-control? ;-))
Anyway, you are wonderful, thank you!
As a lefty compensated bridges are usually a no no for me but this seems to have compensation on the 2 outer strings and 2 inner strings, meaning that swapping over and restringing for lefty it will still stay in tune.
Great insights! I never would have thought of the saddle Messi g with the idea of converting a uke to a left handed design.
@@OneMusicSchool a lot of ukes are straight saddles so conversion is no problem.
True. It’s a good thing to point out.
WOO FLIGHT UKES! We just got a variety of Flight ukes in at Heid Music and I'm pumped to play on them!
@@OneMusicSchoollol to cold for my blood. I'm planning a Appalachian trail hike how do you think this would hold up to that?
I think it would be fine...but it's not waterproof..that's my only hesitation.
Really nice review
I loved the fact that you really compared it to a lot of other models
Thank you for helping in make a choice!!. I hope you can do a review of "FLIGHT TUS40 GRANADA SOPRANO UKULELE". XOXO!
I got my ukuleles just before covid. I just have been waiting for some help to get going. Now that things are a tiny bit normal, maybe I can get some real lessons.
You can do it!
That uke has an impressive sound!
Another great review. I have learned so much from your reviews. I think this Flight sounds better than any of the ukes you sampled. Just my opinion.
Hey Katie, could you do a review on the new flight ultra travel Ike pretty please? I’d love to know what you think 😊
I love in depth reviews like these. Thanks for your effort 💪
Thank you for the fabulous review! This ukulele has a really great sound!
Thank you for such a descriptive review 💜 if I ever travel I think it's worth to acquire something like this! 😻 I just boughy the blue kaka ukulele in tenor size 💜
I really do like it, and I love how affordable it is. If you do end up purchasing it, tell me what color 😀.
hey - that 1:1 comparisons were very helpful! thanks for your work!
Love playing reckless love on the ukulele too 🥺❤️✨
Hello Kate, thanks for your reviews I'm very very new to ukelele (or any other musical instrument) and liked your videos a lot.
I got the Grace Vanderwaal Signature Ukulele too. I absolutely love it. 😍😊
AWESOME!!! What do you like about it? Let me know. I love hearing what other people thing.
Sorry.. think not thing
Thanks 😊
Great review! I have one and love it!
That so great to hear!!!! Thank you so much for leaving your opinion. I really appreciate it.
One Music School 😉 you’re welcome.
I reach for this flight more then my expensive uke. Because it's more easy to play. I have fibromyalgie and my hands are not always cooperative. 😎
Hey loved the aound of it. I was incli ed towards this model vs the enya nova ukulele. Can you please compare the two?
My Ukulele is an silver one with brown strings, its made with plastic too but it sounds perfect.
That's great! It goes to show that you can't judge a book by its cover :).
@@OneMusicSchool oh, thanks!
Hanna

Can you do a review on the makala waterman
I am thinking of changing the strings on mine which I have had for 3 years. Is like for like replacement best or are there any strings that work better on this uke?
Would you still recommend this as a beginner ukulele, or is there anything else you would recommend for the same or maximum double price?
That blue is blowing my mind!! Or blu-ing my mind?!?!?!?
Would the compensated saddle make swapping the strings to play left handed difficult?

My concert size is not that of a travel buddy, I assume.
do you have issue with slipping( the back part) i do and its really annoying.. keep on thinking way that i can d so it doesnt slides too much.
is the flight 35 the same as the 40
Thanks. Super helpful. You just saved me 50€ euros. IAM not a trained ear but for me the sound from the flight was way clearer. You would know better. But the others are difficult to justify as a beginner for value.
Ciao do you think is enough solid to be carry with you in a luggage or backpack during a trip?
Yes I can finally watch one of your videos.
I'm busy :')
I'm so happy that you would spend your time with me! Thank you so much for watching!
how many cm is this ? I have one similiar than this and it is 56 cm , but the normal soprano ukulele is about 55 cm , isn't it?
Thank you so much Katie❤️ God Bless You ❤️
Also a shout-out would be terrific!😀
Would anyone consider this ukelele as a good option for a beginner about 8 yo, or what other alternative should I be looking for?
Also is flight international?
Flight is based out of Europe, so I’m sure you could find a dealer. Where are you from?
So I bought this ukulele and although it's new, it gets way out of tune way more quickly than any of my other ukuleles, in the middle of songs, etc. Can I assume, this will still get better over time?
Good question. Have you gently tugged on the strings to stretch them out? The more you play it, the better is should be. I'll link my string changing video where I show you how to gently stretch out your strings.
How to change your strings - th-cam.com/video/FmrISmF6O3I/w-d-xo.html
@@OneMusicSchool Thank you! It's a gift for a friend who is interested in starting, so I'm hoping to get it "broken in" before she starts. I have gently tugged on the strings, but I will continue to do this until it gets better!
What are the best strings to put on this ukulele??? Also what about a good gig bag with better padding?
Suggestions are welcome! Thanks.
❤️❤️
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
It's hard to judge the sound from the travel clips or from an individual chord. We'd get a better sense of the sound if you had played a short song in studio where you have control of the audio.
Good suggestion. I think my studio is pretty comparable to others. I"m using a RODES shotgun mic that is only inches away from my face and the instrument and it's running through my soundboard (Zoom). I'm not using the camera audio at all. To keep it simple, consistent, and concise, I played just one open chord.
1:13 i sing that in church!
YEAH! I made a tutorial of that song months ago, and I thought I'd bust it out on the boat :).
Heck yes!!
Ps...just followed you on IG, too. I'm @robynhurst. 😊
Ookalaylay?
Yup, that’s how you pronounce it, but either way is fine with me.
@@OneMusicSchool huh, I didn't know you could pronounce it that way. Thanks

First, I would like to praise your channel, lot of great content, I espetially enjoy unboxing videos among tutorials :-)
So, I actually got this ukulele this monday! :-) Well, not exactly this one, but the Flight TUS50. I am not really entirely sure what is different on it, except of the top which is not painted to one colour and has this cool lyzard ornaments around the soundhole, other than that, the same size, 15 frts, zero fret, the same materials and so on, maybe you're gonna be able to tell more of the difference but I doubt there is anything else different other than the top:

So, I started learning ukulele about two months ago, I mean I got my first way back but kind of id not get to it until recently, and I can tell you, I am totally in love with it, with it's voice and how much revarding it is.

YEAHHH!!!!!!! You won first comment!!!
I Got a flight ukulele from a store. It is not in tune down the neck. I wrote them and no response. Don't spend your money on something that looks nice but is a polished turd!
