If things that are “hidden” don’t exist in your memory and cause you to repeat buy then using only open storage is key! Clear containers, maybe no cupboard or closet doors, which is just fine. They can be reattached if you move so no worries 😊 another option is to work with someone and take pictures of how a storage area “should” look and then you can know if you need to buy…maybe tea because that space is empty but immediately fill that spot when you get home from the store. The pictures are also helpful to friends who visit so they can put things where they belong or find things easily. Maybe these ideas can help 🤷‍♀️ just know that you will find your way to live in the way YOU want to live. Don’t be overwhelmed by others expectations- be safe, be kind to yourself and may you find peace 🌺 Thank you, Coline - your hard work is so appreciated 🥰

Exactly what I came to say! Open storage. No doors. Clear bins with clear lids are ok. Labels. Have 3 of these kiddos , two who also have autism. I did a lot of body doubling

My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD as a child. I would sit in her bedroom while she cleaned to help her stay on task. Also, it’s important to have a designated place for everything. Then rather than sitting something down, you need to immediately put it where it belongs.

Looks like that resident needs clear storage and items left out to be seen. The open shelving is a clear indication of this. If the items aren’t taken out of bags then it’s still going to be a problem. So establishing better routines is also crucial in this circumstance.

Yes. I put shelves that are too deep in my pantry and I end up buying things I already have way too often because I don't see them behind other things! AuDHD. 🙄 We are selling our house and moving and I'll make sure not to make that mistake again!

Perhaps suggesting that keeping a roll of garbage bags next to the front door and filling just one a day, putting it by the door and taking it out as you go out the door would keep your clients from being overwhelmed with the idea of cleaning up a huge space. Just a suggestion.😊

Ik heb ook AD(H)D, maar omdat mijn moeder vroeger altijd alles kwijt was en ik me daaraan ergerde, heb ik mezelf structuur aangeleerd

I had a friend that had a bathroom like that. Her home was three stories with four bathrooms. The bathroom in her master bedroom was tiny though. Just a sink, vanity, and toilet. I don't know how she got in and out of it. I tried so hard to help, but it was a losing battle. She was actually trying to sell the home with it looking like that. She wasn't depressed, etc., just messy.

ADHD without hyperactivity is ADD, which can be acquired, like in an accident with head trauma. That's how my son got ADD. ADHD often has a genetic component. Keep up the good work!😊

Great job Coline. I appreciate that the resident wants privacy, but she must know that you make videos of these cleanings. It seems a little unfair to ask you to do this for free and then asking you not to use the footage. You were very kind and respectful of her wishes.
