Thank you for your video, this was my problem as well. It was easy to find and fix thanks to your great advice. TH-cam needs more creators like you, nicely done!👍
Just had my first "under the hood" session with my 16 year old son. Thanks to this video it was a WONDERFUL experience !🤣🤣👍👍 The hose was dangling just like the video. THANK YOU
This was the exact problem. Took me 30 seconds to fix with the help of your video! Thanks! I was really bummed out thinking it was going to cost me hundreds of dollars to tear my dash apart. You and your video really hooked me up. I'm glad I found it. Thank you!!!
Thank you for watching our auto repair video that shows you how to get the defrost out of the default windshield position on your Jeep Grand Cherokee. Have a great day!
Wow, I hope that's what mine is. Gonna check that tomorrow. I thought it was the blend doors, which was something I've heard of for the first time today, but I guess that's something else. Learning stuff today! Thanks for the vid!
I have a problem on my 4.0 where the settings are wrong. My defrost setting turns off the blower and my off setting turns it on. Also my fan only turns on in the high setting. I went to the junk yard and just swapt the resistor to see if that was the problem and that didnt work. Should i reset my codes to see if that helps.
I don't think that will do anything. Is the knob itself possibly in the wrong position ? Has someone possibly taken it off before and pressed it back onto the HVAC cluster in the wrong position?
@@HomeownerRepair i will try and remove the knob and hopefully put it in the right position. Can’t believe i didn’t think of that. Ive never messed with the bazel or the knobs . It just happened out of the blue. If that doesn’t work i guess i will replace the bazel and give you guys an update on what happened
@@HomeownerRepair update: so i finally fixed the problem. I removed the bazel and removed the knob that controls the direction of the air flow .all i did was move the knob to the off position and assembled it back together. ( be careful with the little metal ball that is attached behind the knob. ) i also blew out the back of the bazel since it was a little dusty. It also fixed my lo to high knob .so i knocked two birds with a stone on this one. Thanks for the reply.
I have this problem and I watched your video and the vacuum line was attached. I disconnected it and reconnected it and still a/c and heat blow through the defrost. Help please
The temperature control knob on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee seems like it's not connected to anything and I can't adjust the heat. Would appreciate any info you may be able to share
This is exactly what was wrong with my moms Jeep after she told me it was only blowing A/C out the defroster vent, I looked at it an sure enough that vacuum line had come off so I put it back on an added a gas line clamp to try an hold it on better.

Hi did you fix your horn I fixed my its a simple fuse under the hood it's next to the battery. You can find the fuse because it's mapped on the plastic cover for all the fuses
That was it! Woo hoo! The hose did go back on very easy. I can see why it might need a clamp later.. Thankyou. Now I can call the shop back and tell them I don't need them after all. And now my feet won't be freezing. Thanks again!

Looks like you have the V8 - I have in inline 6. Any idea if the vacuum lines run the same way between the two?
This is the 4.0 so it should be in the same spot on your Jeep Grand Cherokee. Hope this helps you out.
Same spot I have straight 6
Thanks, that was the problem!!
Glad this video helped you fix the heater issue on your Jeep Grand Cherokee.
@@HomeownerRepair well seeing as I just had all that pulled out of the dash, and didn't want to do it again,,, thanks again!!
Are 4.0 and 4.7's really that much different from each other? I can't find this location on my jeep at all.
The vacuum routing on the 4.7 may be different
I have this problem and I watched your video and the vacuum line was attached. I disconnected it and reconnected it and still a/c and heat blow through the defrost. Help please
Did you find out what the problem was? I am having that same issue now. Vacuum line is attached but heater still only blows through the defrost
@@greggwatson4799 I’m having that problem too anyone figured it out?
Sorry just saw this
So the plastic part on the other side of my line broke what is the name of this line and a place to buy so I can replace it
Not 100% sure. The dealer should be able to get one though.

There should be some kind of resistance on the knobs. Did you just buy the Jeep or have you had it for a while?
I have the same issue

@@HomeownerRepair Is ok man no problem, but l will much appreciated if you can help with my request. 🙏☺
Great video, any idea if it’s the same for the 4.7 V8?
On these 4.0 motors this is a common thing to have happen. Not sure if it's the same setup on a 4.7
I put the line back on mine still stuck on defrost
Did you get this figured out?
Thanks! Works now!
Glad this helped you out.
