    Tom, thank you for your comments and questions. For your first question I do not recommend drilling when there is already a bullseye under the impact point because you already have a clear passage into the entire break and drilling could block-off a section. This would be all round shaped breaks such as bullseyes and combination-breaks. On your second question you cannot drill into the impact point because the resin has cured and blocked the passage into the legs. You should completely cure and then go back and drill and tap a bullseye for each tip of each leg that did not fill. If you have two legs next to each other you can drill between them and tap a bullseyes which will connect to both legs. We have a tool called a Star-leg Flexor that can fill stubborn legs in order to avoid the drilling. Also on the bottom of the pages of our website are links of information, one is a free manual for repairing stone-breaks. Email me if you would like a crack manual.

    What a great tutorial. You are the only one I recall mentioning the fact that the windshield is a safety device. Thanks Richard.

    What about people that go around with a glass cutter and cut a small cut approximately 4-6 in. up from the front so the glass will crack all the way across the windshield so as to get business for glass companies.??? You say; nobody would do that; let me ask you do you think a man would push a shopping cart clear half way across a parking lot "at Sams Club" hit a car door making a 3-4in dent just to get business for body shops.??? either he is just crazy and hates other people and is angry. Possibly this depravid man can't get his kicks at home and has to do mischief on others because he can't think logically.

    The company I work for does not use the bullseye tapping method when we drill is that something I need to be concerned with

    The bullseye tapper can be purchased on our website ultrabond . com
    The drill bits are also available on our website; roundhead and 171 tapered.

    Gene. . .Yes small star-breaks that do not have a black round or half round void under the impact point need to drilled and a mini-bullseye tapped. I recommend you use a needle, not a punch and make sure the needle is smaller than the drilled hole or you will chip the glass and end up with a large pit. If you have a half round (half moon shaped) void you can lean the needle when you tap to make it a full round void. See the free manual link on the bottom of the homepage of our website for diagrams of breaks that require drilling.

    Richard, do even very small rock chip pitted area with very small spider cracks require drilling the center of the chip and then tapping with a punch to cause a void on bottom surface of crack so resin can penetrate to the bottom and bond with the mat between the glass?

    If you are talking about an edge crack, we use 1600 in the edge area and 400 in the rest of the crack.

    Richard, I have a accord with 2 BB cracks in the upper tinted area out of view. From inside the car the breaks themselves are not immediately noticeable if it weren't for the bright 1" rings around the breaks where the tint has discolored. Surprisingly the stock dark grey tint takes on a low yellow orange brightness. Any ideas how to alleviate the attention getting nature of the discoloration? Your videos are GREAT and thank you! Dave

    Dave. . .unfortunately it is the PVB (lamination) that is tinted no the glass and when you have a break in this area the air hits the PVB and clears the tint. There is no way to resolve the discoloration.

    Best explanation on Internet of how cracks occur on inside surface of outer layer of glass and why curing is best done under pressure.

    It takes about 20 repairs to be proficient. Most new technicians have enough friends and family to do their first 20 repairs on.

    Estimado Richard, existe forma de limpiar una grieta contaminada?
    Por ejemplo una grieta de 6 meses?
    Para poder reparar ese daño?

    • @UltraBondWindshieldRepair
      @UltraBondWindshieldRepair  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it is dust or dirt that you can see and is packed in the crack - there is no way to get it out. Chemical contamination can be neutralized by our Xtra-Bond and X-Phobic primers.

    Great system. I used a competing system years ago, while I was in college. I was doing it way back when glass repair was still a novelty & the tools were crude but It made good money & it got me through school. I would go for this system If I was going to do it again. I watched a different vid of you doing a long crack. I must say that is very impressive.
