I recognize John Sturino on drums there and Chris (forgive me I am in the UK, can't remember his second name) on trombone from the UNT One O'Clock Lab Band, and Drew of course, but I would love to know what has happened to some of the other UNT players from their time - Connor Eisenmenger - I think a truly great trombonist, last I heard Josh Kaufmann's trumpet was heard in an Army band, Brandon Moore and Garrett Winfield in the sax section, and Garrett's brother Luke in the trumpet section, I love the small group work of Austin Ford. Knowing Texas was badly affected by the Coronavirus I hope they are all safe, happy and well.
I should have read before typing:I didn't recognise Brandon, and it's Chris Sharpe, but the remarks about the others apply. I always felt with Connor Eisenmenger that you got the humour of Vic Dickenson and Bob Brookmeyer with the facility and fleetness of JJ or Kai, a really happy player - all of that mid 2010s intake deserve to be well known and appreciated, I am glad Drew, Chris and Brandon are getting heard
Holy s***...Drew take a bow! This is stellar stuff! As a huge fan of Bob I was curious to see how this “classic” would translate to big band. Looking forward to whatever comes next 💯🎷🔥
Thank YOU, Drew for this great chart. The Sinclair College Jazz Ensemble in Dayton, Ohio, is playing this chart on Friday, November 5, 7:00 PM EDT. I'm looking forward to it! Thanks again.
Real virtuosity here, goes down so smooth it’s clear you’re all at the top of your form. Especially like the arrangement, plenty variety yet cohesive to the last note. Bravo!
This is so awesome...love the arrangement! Quick question, what app did you use to allow Bob, and others, to remotely record their parts? It sounds great... would never have guessed they were in different locations if not for the accompanying video.
Thanks so much! We used ProTools, but you can do it with any DAW. Technology is pretty amazing! We used a click track for this one, and we spent a lot of time mixing to make sure everything blended together well.
Tight as a Swiss clockwork!

What a fantastic arrangement and it’s a pleasure to hear Bob wail since his playing is often so laid back. World class from start to finish.
