with it's body type it's most likely closer to a maned wolf than any cat species. note the large ears, long legs, small head, tail shape. although technically all eeveelutions are foxes as eevee is a fox though some will have different body types in relation to what they're based on like espeon which is based on the bakeneko or two tailed cat which is why it's extremely feline looking and has a double tipped tail.

This is not the only contradiction the Pokedex makes, there are at least a hundred more from other Pokemon.

Don't care. Still my favorite Eeveelution along with Glaceon. That's just proving you can't underestimate anything cute, plus to show the reference that the Eevees are based on cats, dogs, and foxes, all predatory carnivores (which explains its front canines). It has to hunt. Regardless, ALL Eeveelutions are harmless and affectionate to people.
