I know your comment is very old but I wanted to reply for anyone else looking for this answer. Mine is very slow. Upload to Hard drive is 5MB a second. Down load is about 10MB a second. Have been trying to figure out if this is out of normal with little luck. I’ve seen others in forums post about the slow speed and no one posting any fixes or improvements which leads me to believe the speed is slow.

I have TP-Link Archer ax55 router, connected 10 TB Seagate One Touch Hub into usb 3.0 port, created network disc to have access from Windows, but can`t change, create and load folders and files. Windows says I don`t have enough rights. Trying to change access rights to this disk in Security menu but anyway Windows says I can`t do this. Enabled Insecure guest logons option and SMB 1.0/CIFS Client but still can`t do any changes in my usb device as a network device. Removed it from router and connected it ti my PC directly, all rights and full access appeared without any problem. feel some dissappointment

PROBLEM : the usb drive/hdd connected to the router can be removed by anybody and access it. Is there any way we can protect it ? Like, can we connect a encrypted/ password protected hdd to a router ?
This video is very nice. BUT It really doesn't work! There is a firmware problem in TP-LINK that disappears with the files. So TAKE CARE THE FILES ARE GOING AWOL with no response so far from TP-LINK (on all TP-LINK models) with more than 10,000 files.
for all noobs such as myself, if you cannot get it to work because the fking computer refuses to SEE the damn network despite if you have issues logging in but allows you to run diagnosis to see whats wrong, it admits it sees the router but cannot find the folder (duh maybe you misspelled the password), you apparently need to enable SMB1 that allows file sharing funny, because i've downloaded apps free on android/ios on mobile/tablet devices and it maps drives easy, why the F does microsoft/computers need to make it so hard and compllicated
p.s you can use powershell and do all that old school commands OR use the clean GUI feature by going to "search bar" on your windows type "windows feature" tick the smb1 protocol function, restart, bam your computer now sees the usb drive.........seriously microsoft take your head out off your @ss
