Stephen King Rec: “The Long Walk”. It’s one of my all time favorite books. It’s essentially a competition where 100 kids need to walk non-stop until only one is left
I'm actually about 180+ pages in that book but stopped reading it like 6 months ago and now I have a hard time getting back into it. It was good tho. I should just push myself to continue
@@Wings0fFreedom That makes sense, the book definitely starts strong and it slows down a bit in the middle. But if you push through I think the last pages are going to be worth it
I’ve read only like three King books and IT is my favorite (just because of the characters and sentimentality) but The Long Walk is a very close second and one of my biggest recommendations. I was surprised with how much I liked it, it’s so good honestly.
North and South is truly such a beautiful story. One of my favourites! And I read it bc you were always talking about wanting to read it haha 💕😭 I’m so glad you finally read it and enjoyed it too!!
Babe I’m so proud of you for finally finishing north& south!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Now you gotta watch the mini series of north and south please!!!
I'm reading "The Name of the Rose" by Umberto Eco at the moment and I'm so in love with this book. It has everything: the story, the atmosphere, the humour. Just incredible. A perfect book for winter days when it is snowing outside (for other seasons as well😂) I can recommend it highly❤
Can't wait for Evocation to come out. Check out the BBC North & South mini-series with Richard Armitage. Non-fiction recs to level you up: level 1: Moonwalking with Einstein, by Joshua Foer, will literally give you a super power. level 2: Buddhism Without Beliefs, by Stephen Batchelor, will change your way of life-no faith required. level 3: The Body Keeps the Score, by Bessel A. van der Kolk, not a light read but is the definitive text on trauma.

One of my favorite books of all time is a nonfiction called a house in the sky. It reads almost like fiction (which is sort of heavy because of the content matter) but wow I highly recommend
even though you feel a reading slump coming you still had such a good reading month and I'm hoping that december will be a good month for you as well (not just for reading but in general 💖) I know you generally don't like scifi but since you liked All You Need Is Kill maybe you'd like The Light Brigade by Kameron Hurley, it's about a war between Earth and Mars where the maincharacter ends up time travelling through different parts of the war. It's really gorey and good, I really enjoyed so maybe you will too! The best books I read this month were The Book of Dragons, a short story collection about dragons and almost all of the stories were so good! I also read The Confessions of Frannie Langton which is about a freed-slave-forced-into-maid writing down her life history from within jail while she is standing trial for the murder of her mistress/lover. It was really really dark but also very very good! (also not me leaving a comment with paragraphs :omg:)

I love how fast you got this up! I feel the same way as you if I can’t connect to the characters then I end up not caring as much about what happens, especially if the author just doesn’t give enough depth to the characters. My favorite read of November was The Bookwanderers by Anna James 😊
November was the best month for me! About 21 books which I don’t even know how I managed to do that. Needless to say, I am going to go WAY easier in the month of December 😂
I love how much you love North and South!! I highly recommend the 2004 mini series, it's a masterpiece! I also recommend Middlemarch (the book and the adaptation) because I think you might really like that one too. Ps: you look amazing in blue!! 👏

I will say I really enjoyed remarkably bright creatures, I gave it 4 stars because the emotional connection was really there for me (even if I did find Cameron to be really annoying at times) and I cried a few times but yeah I probably wouldn't pick it up again but would definitely recommend to people. I also finished my love mix-up last month and it was EVERYTHING (and pls that scare you talked about, it got me too, I genuinely nearly threw the book across the room until I kept reading 🤣). Fun fact about North and South: the reason why the ending was rushed was because it was serialised in a magazine by Charles Dickens and he got fed up with how long it was taking to finish so he forced Elizabeth Gaskell to rush the ending🙄

“The Happiest Man on Earth” by Eddie Jaku! I would highly recommend this nonfiction:memoir (: it displays one man’s view on World War 2 from the perspective of being a half Jew and German! His outlook on life is so beautiful and heartbreaking! I would highly recommend this book❤
If you were to try Stephen King's books again I would recommend Pet Sematary 🙂 and even though it's not horror I would also recommend The Green Mile. I read that one last year and it was so sad but so good lol
So glad you enjoyed evocation!! I'm hoping I get approved for an arc. I read Gibson's other book that comes out in February - An education in malice. It's an incredible carmilla retelling. You should totally check it out!!

Some nonfiction I enjoyed this year that I would recommend are: The Mirror of My Heart: A Thousand Years of Persian Poetry by Women, Humankind: A Hopeful History by Rutger Bregman and China in Ten Words by Yu Hua.

The first and only time that I read Stephen King I was really disappointed as well. I read “Later” and ended up giving it two stars. So if will are going to try another one, I suggest to skip this one.
In November, I read a lot of books, but never finish theme. Did not like them. The only book that I finished and LOVED is (We will not serve coffee to Spinoza) by Alice Cappagli⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Arabic translation.

Stephan King meanders a lot, and is very slow paced sometimes. You might enjoy Delores Claibourne or the Shinning better
I'll check them out thank you!!

Non fiction you may like. Furiously happy by jenny Lawson.
Stephen King: PET CEMETERY OR MR MERCEDES (pls)
Catherine the Great. It's better than the fictional show😂❤
The first and only time that I read Stephen King I was really disappointed as well.
I’ll be checking it out 👀✍️
