Brother, your enthusiasm is contagious. I should not have watched this just before bedtime. Loved seeing the Bald Yeti 🦶🏼setting the vibes! The chorus to East Bound and Down by Jerry Reed could have been the theme song for this video. Fantastic updates of your Bonsai 1/2 Acre, good sir. I’m really diggin it.
So much to update and some really important tips about staying on top of things. I am still trying to reduce my collection but I have found that some of the neglected stuff has sparked off new bonsai ideas...I fear i am a bonsai hoarder :)
Love the information each year about overwintering. Each year for me is an experiment. Since you didn’t show the PA that you took on your road trip I can only assume it is in bonsai heaven
Nice euonymus! glad those worked out for you. I just collected a small one from Jim's NE MPLS garden this week. Weeds make such reliable starter bonsais. This fall, I also collected a whole grove of hackberry and an amur maple. That garden is now put to bed for the autumn, so I'll have time to wander around and identify other possible specimens, move boulders, move accents, attend to structure maintenance.
39F/4C and my tropicals still outside. I am forcing them into dormancy for the basement. They are still going strong. Yours should be okay that you forgot. Even my Sarcocaulon & Pelargonium.
I wish I could thicken up trees in my yard, but every time I plant a tree outside something terrible or fatal happens to it. Hence the bonsai 🙂 I remember my neighbor struggling with the lilacs in their yard. Very brittle and would die back yet would still manage to flower every year. My problem child is my extra-finicky Stewartia.
nice vid Dave! id be interested in seeing a list of trees you might be selling. also interested in seeing your setup for tropicals, i need to work on that this weekend for myself.
@@airford13 I say I want to downsize, but don’t think I have a ton people would even want. Hard to say. I have a lot of LED overhead lights for my tropicals. I let them rest through December in my basement plant room. Then add sone heat from 12-5 daily to get the room to 75+ I also water my trays a lot to keep a good amount of humidity in the air. Usually keep it around 50%
Great update. Spooky20 at bonsai supply discount code till halloween case u need soil 20% off. Im grabbing some for spring. 😂 thinking about repotting already man thats bad😂 winter didnt even start. Gonna be 80 deg this week in nyc . Insane. Also can wait for the valvanis video. I went to the nationals last year and it was great. Hope i can make it there next year. Grabbed a hilton hotel last year and man 2 nights was expensive in that area. Gonna try and book ahead if im going .maybe get it cheaper. There are other hotels but the one i stayed at was very close to the arena
However you modify your collection, it has to fit your life, so mod on. Long live Bonsai Acres and your post-retirement life (whenever that comes). No Shuffle? How’s that going to happen?
HAAA HAAA. know that feeling of iv’e got to many and just then you spot another that looks good. And I’m trying to lessen the load. But it’s like looking at one and saying it’s the gallows for you because your less important. It’s hard. 🥹😄😄❤️🦘🇦🇺
Busy, busy, busy!!!

I hit the nail on the head catching your opening video today.

@@haroldhughes9129 you totally made me pause and think if it did or is still with me. Now I have to double check.
Foist & to like!
Your goldfish & Ficus T. that you gave me, still in microclimate. My goldfish in wide open shelf & cold not bothering it. So far they are adapting.

@@bjrockensock thanks! I look forward to what it may look like in a couple more years!

Great advice! Work on the cheap stuff and make mistakes to help you learn.
AH...don't kill the plant gifted to you by the mother-in-law! That's a sure way to find yourself in the "dog house!"

I wonder if you could get some beneficial bacteria to help the 2 lilacs get better & stronger? Just a thought.

I've had good luck with my dwarf lilac "Prairie Petite". No fungus problems so far, knock on wood.
@@ericswann1417 excellent!!!!
Are the willow bushes in the willow family? Willow roots crack foundations & clog sewer lines. I am not familiar with the willow bushes.

Hello,
Since you want to lessen your quantity of trees, are you selling them?
@@tomjohnson5068 I will be selling more next year, yes.

What is the name of the outside bonsai that looks like a football?
@@maryweber4176 probably the kids football! 😁
If you are serious, what is the time stamp of where you saw this tree?
