so a trud is a shapeshifting mischief demon that induces nightmares, implying that the events of the game were all a nightmare. i think the player character is the girl whose diary we read, and her nightmare is about her school experiences that lead her to either literally murder a classmate or fantasize about murdering a classmate. the specifics are unclear but learning about the trud helped me frame the plot a little differently, and i really enjoyed it!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the dude in the beginning looked like inspector gadget! And kudos to you for being so patient with games that are like this. I would have quit in the middle of it.
i think i understand (the bit at the beginning makes no sense to me in how it relates but anyway) so essentially we are playing as the girl who was bullied, and due to this she began to fantasise about killing them. now i think she did kill her main bully, and as she said it was an accident, so i think that the black ink is like her guilt over it, and potentially the reason why the hand was removed (the hand that pushed the bully)? now whether or not she and the other guy end up killing anyone else is unclear at the beginning she has white eyes, so she either died, almost died, or its a sign of possession. the trud induces nightmares, so of course it would pick something traumatic for the victim. the school changing shape and style was a really interesting choice, and i thought it sort of showed that feeling of being new and not belonging really well. although it does confuse things for the player so i think there should have been more leading so mischief shapeshifty demon, typically are more game oriented then for a goal, so it provides what is essentially an opportunity for her to live or not, she just has to relive the worst time in her life in nightmare form
So, did inspector Gadget from the intro cutscene have anything to do with the "plot" or did the developer just want to showcase how cinematic they can make a bunch of low-quality models?
Haha, I thought that too 😅. I wonder if the Trud was somehow spawned from the violence at the start of the game and then made it's way to school. The game doesn't seem to explain it.
Funny, in the beginning you said "I have many questions" and literally none of them got answered. The game only caused more unanswered questions to be asked..I didn't understand any of what was going on. It has potential but that's about it...
I do have to admit that I love these goofy indie games! Your commentary makes every video great, but I really love the genre of not quite polished to down right bad indie games. You always give a fair to generous assessment and are so supportive with your constructive feedback. Thanks for the many many hours of entertainment!
The game with the similar gym layout was Hawthorn, a much less confusing & better game. The playthrough you did of it is one of my favorite let's plays.
I'm watching, like, super late, but TH-cam likes comments, so I'm leaving my thoughts Chris!: Cool game, could never play it myself, cause I'm a scaredy cat, but you are great :) letting me experience all these games I never would. Plus - great voice!
Is it just me or have there been a ton of "trapped" in a school type games lately? Not that I'm complaining, anytime I get to watch a Cju playthrough is a good time so you could play Tetris and I'd still watch. ;) Still my favorite channel. Thanks!
Interesting game. What did the intro have to do with the girl in the school? That's the real question. The game was pretty directionless, making it fairly lackluster, and it did nothing to really explain what the hell was going on. Very odd game, and not in an odd Vidas game way. Commentary makes the video though. Thanks for the entertainment, Chris!
lets now reflect on the opening cut scene.. and everything else really. they were like, "i have a few disconnected ideas, so lets mash them together and make a game".
The "glitches" aside from the insta-kill at the beginning, definitely add to the game, it was jarring but in a good way, going through a door you were never sure if what you saw was where you were going or if you were going to snap somewhere else. I dug it.
A confusing game from beginning to end. Maybe the title is a synthesis of "turd" and "crud." That would explain some things. 😬 😂 Thanks, CJU, for making games like this fun to watch.
Perhaps the player experiences the school through the perception of someone possessed by the Durt since she's very near to being its next victim. Judging by the diary entries there's a lot of negativity in the school (...shocker). The growing tree may be how it sees the girl. Her escaping into the light may be her breaking free of its influence on her perception.
Within the first two minutes of gameplay CJU gets shoved out of the world and killed - I tab out to check the title for "terrible". Fun to watch! The stuttered breathing of the trud was very unsettling.
That library looked so familiar in another small indie horror, then I'm thinking I'm sure the whole school and that is out of a phone game had called the janitor.
It seems like sometimes Indy games don't always have a sensible ending, except to mess with your head leaving you confused as to what happened and what it means. Sometimes there is no meaning. If anything, it seems you end up back where it all started with the assumption that you're reliving it again and again?
David Lynch called... He said this game was too weird, and made no sense. He wants this hour of his life back. 😄 But I say, thx for playing Chris. Even the ones that suck are worth watching because of your commentary. I love, "Deadly Premonition"- now that's weird! 😆 But this was all over the place. 💖
When the "No way out" sign was on the wall there was an "E" press option there to either pick something up or interact with it. Also considering that this came is called The Trud, the Trud itself is probably the least threatening aspect of the game, plus it feels like it isn't even part of the plot, just something put there to provide a moderate threat to the player.
well, they said they were putting their equipment on the roof, maybe they were fumigating the whole school's air conditioning system with a hallucinogenic gas?
The game told you at the beginning when you kicked the door down to wait (subtitle at bottom middle of screen). You ignored it and pushed forward. The second time you waited. So not a one in a million glitch.
Your eyes may be misleading you, as the game isn't called The Turd 😂
Dude I came straight to the comments to say this- I was like man they’re not very confident in their game are they? 🤔
But move a couple of letters and PRESTO! It's The Turd! 💩
are you sure about that.
The turd lol, I just love your commentary for this game. I always look so forward to your videos. Your big fan always
It should have been
It's nice to watch someone that just doesnt have to act obnoxious, have crazy camera cuts, and just simply plays a game with fun commentary. Cheers!
Ya hes one of the few lol
Exactly!
Yes!
U forgot to mention acting jumpy and screaming like a girl at the smallest thing in-game, i hate those...so fucking fake
You have spoken my mind
In the intro I was holy hell we gonna play as inspector gadget.
WOWZERS!!!
thought the same, lol
me too HAHAHAHAHA
Yeah. Haha. Looking for this
Go go gadget Ingram Mac10

I totally misread the games title for a second
Yeah I woke up from a nap to see a notification saying "The Turd." 😂
What kinda game is he pl..... Ooooh!
I didn't believe it to be anything else till Chris said it. Wonder how many takes that took to pronounce

I like your name: perfectly describes my cat.
The game despawned the room while you were leaving but placed your axis on the wrong side of the wall leading you to fall to your death.
I really wish some “developers” would at least try to have the game make sense
The demon's sounds are freaky, anything like that always freaks me out.
Same lol
[School Sounds]
@@unacceptablefailurerate6453 If schools sounded like that I'd be pretty worried about kids being in them lol
the demons face sits smack dab in the middle of everything that freaks me out. and i loathe the sound it makes LOL
Wow, the guy at the start looked like inspector gadget.
I thought exactly the same thing - Chris: "at least someone survived" me: INSPECTOR GADGET????
@@SarahStorm It made me laugh a bit when he pulled the gun, and the first thing to come to mind was Go Go Gadget Ingram mac-10.

Inspector Gadget. Man sure looks like him. Totally enjoyed. Funny and entertaining. Thanks Cju.
00:38 *Phone rang* CJU : "Is this The Trud speaking?" I chuckled. Great humour, man, love that! :)
Those locker slits were perfect for censoring the giant baby faced man's hinder.

"I don't really know what that was...." Yup. Thanks for your patience though in playing thru it!
Did anyone else get major Inspector Gadget vibes from the guy in the beginning
I have no idea what that was, but I am here for it. Your personality certainly made it better lol
lets now reflect on the opening cut scene.. and everything else really. they were like, "i have a few disconnected ideas, so lets mash them together and make a game".
Lol yep....
Is that inspector gadget? Lol
1:41 so this is why we dont have more episodes of Inspector Gadget XD
Maybe after getting the tape you had to go to the sphere that "acts like a speaker"?
Anyway, I don't think that would have made more sense 😂
I don't think the Trud is a demon. It's actually a vengeful spirit cursed to spend eternity searching for the person who stole his feet.
Its feet were pretty pointy.
cju found his feet up a Mountain in another game following the footprints.
i love ur commentary and content overall. It was hard for me to find content like this so I’m glad I was recommended your channel!

I have to admit the animation and art style are nice. But the creature itself probably needs work.

That means if you die, that's on you, since you don't plan on saving at all.
Right? After that first spontaneous death, I don't think I'd trust the game not to bug out randomly. Brave man.
I like watching these scary games plays and all, but I ready my heart by jumping to the jump-scare first and then picking up where I left off.

When the guy at the beginning showed up in a black trilby and grey trenchcoat, my brain started singing the Inspector Gadget theme
Janitor’s Key is usually a master key that opens every door making the need for other keys redundant.
Excellent video!
And truth be told there are boundaries and rules that even demons have to follow. Only difference is they just don't play fair.
Because of this channel, I will forever rate games based on level of toilet interaction
Wowzers! Inspector Gadget didn't have any more ammo in his machine pistol! Time to activate the springy legs for a fast getaway!
