This mix is definitely more chunky in the low mids, less vildhjarta mixing style and more like spirit box. All though, I will definitely say that the bass solo section does not slap quite as violently as your mix. The kicks feel softer and bass isn’t quite as loud or destructive in its overtones there. I prefer your mix for that bass section. I do like how the guitar sits in the mix in contrast to the ambient though. It’s easier to hear on my poopy iPhone speakers as well.

@@RandomRiffz207hey RandomRiff, honestly I didn’t even mean it like criticism, honestly I was just personally stating a preference. Your bass solo section sounded good (well mixed) I thought it was just a stylistic difference. I think spirit box blessed be has a bass solo section that sounds similar to your mix. Yours put more emphasis on the pretty ambience, and a calmer but groovy pause in between the hard riffs. Black holes felt like it put more emphasis on being a gritty heavy riff that was just absent of guitars for a few measures, letting the ambience shine a bit more. like flavorful experimentation. Your mix sounds super good bro.

I love this discussion. I think RandomRiffz207 made the guitars sound more devastating and you're right. The low mids are awesome in this mix. I have a tendency to make the ambience shine and the guitars are just additional flavor. I tend to have all components gel with each other, but I really like what RandomRiffz did. His post production game is also very impressive. I like both mixes equally for different reasons :)
